[Suggestion] All characters to pass Exp to alts
What about giving a Level 80 scroll in exchange for a gift of exploration?
It’d give players that don’t want a legendary something to do with that item.
Like lucky egg in pokemon? :P

The bulk of your post rests on two points: your anecdotal alt run with guild members, which is not what I would be getting if looking for someone in LFG; and also your false dichotomy that if I’m not doing a record run it must be super casual.
To answer your first question, no, it is not the removal of traits alone. It was the already-weak status of non-80s, coupled with trait locks, backwards stats, and all of the other elements of NPE.
As far as important traits, Forceful Greatsword (master) stands out as a key non-GM trait, and then any 10% modifier, a lot of -20% recharge modifiers, etc. Master of Consecrations and Absolute Resolution (a master) also stand out. So does Renewed Justice (a master minor trait now also locked at 60)
But let’s not get stuck on traits alone. This is far from the only way new low levels are crippled in dungeons.
- Choosing between unlocking traits or unlocking skills. Skill points are given in bulk at certain levels (let’s pretend 45 is one level). A character at 44 is now missing about 5-7 skill points that he would have had before, and has also had to spend a few unlocking traits. If he’s a new player, he’s probably burned through even more, not knowing which skills/traits are actually useful. #snowball
- Not only are skill points given in bulk at certain levels, so are stat points. How many stat points is that lvl 44 player now missing that he would naturally have had before? Characters are now weaker than they were before, except at those landmark levels for stat boosts. #datsnowball
- Trait points are back-loaded, with a huge chunk given in the 70’s. In addition to not starting with the traits, players now have fewer than before (a lvl 30 pre-NPE would have 4 trait points. Now they have 1. This shifts to 5/1 at lvl 35 and 5/2 at 36). By the way, trait points are also stat points (50, up to 100 stat points per trait). #verysnowball
- Why should I or anyone else bother trying to figure out what key landmark levels there are (for next tiers of gear/skill points/stat points/trait points) when I can simply ask for an 80 (or maybe high 70s) and be rid of most of these worries? #wtfavalanche
tl;dr—I think I could bear with a few of these changes, but not all of them. I’m also well aware that I’ll be considered a kitten here for publicly stating my thoughts. But consider throwing that frustration, not at me, but at ANet. Things don’t change unless people complain and take action. I’m honestly mostly a messenger for a larger group.
PS: I’m also not interested in hearing about how the NPE has added immersion for new players (it may be a valid discussion point but irrelevant in the context of dungeons). If it has, it’s doing so by creating artificial progression via crippling the characters at the start.
to be faceroll at the high levels, because it
needs to be accessible to the casuals and bads.

The new NPE is ok .. i don’t mind the level restriction for the Adept , Master , Grandmaster trait. what really bug me is the trait unlock system.. kill this or do this to unlock a specific trait .. i dont like it.
If your level is high enough to unlock the Master line then all Master traits should be available right away or if we unlock them via skill points+ gold or by completing something then make account wide for this class. I have 14 lvl 80 including 4 Guardians , why i need to to do 100% Lornar’s Pass completion 4 times to get the same trait on each character ?
this system is annoying , i play this game since its debut , i know every bit and every corner of the map ..why i have to do the same boring things over and over to unlock the traits just because i want to play the same class but with a different race ?
perhaps you can just move your xp around. you don’t gain more, you just take it off character 1 and put it on character 2. Kind of like trait points.
So, there might be some thought to this after all?
Maybe not a direct “alts gain XP from level 80 characters”, but what about:
Pay 5 skill points
Pay 5 gold
Get leveling book.
Numbers could vary, of course, but the notion is to siphon excess points off a level 80 and pay a premium exchange rate for giving an alt that experience. And it’s a gold sink.
If I’m thinking more generously, 2 or 3 skill points and 1 gold. That’s still 158+ skill points and 79 gold to get an alt to max from level 1. (And yet, still less than buying all the traits from a trainer…)

I would rather have skill points movable from character to character because a character that could insta-level to 80 would be badly kitten. (<——oh come on now, I used a word that is also the name of a huge image creating program)
An NPC where we could exchange a certain number of skill points for a Scroll of Knowledge would take care of some of the current trait problem and provide a use for all of those unused skill points.

YES! +1!
Just giving scrolls to turn 80 sounds like a really good solution. I also did dungeons more than once and crafted more than one of the same ascended item. I dont enjoy doing the same content more than once. So give us infinite dungeon tokens and acces to an infinite supply of ascended items once you crafted it for the first time. Btw i’ve been using certain waypoints pretty often. I think I’m now entitled to WP there for free.

I just want a way where I can make a Charr Warrior and level it without feeling like I’m wasting time when I could be making gold/doing dungeons/running the living story on my level 80 Norn Warrior.
To me that sounds really reasonable. Aslong as its for the same class.
Why not instead we just totally rip from WoW and add heirloom gear (that we’d call something else) into the game? It would be a level 1 rare that scales with your character 70, and one of each piece can be acquired for so many dungeon tokens from each dungeon vendor (one slot per x6 Armor/Weapon/Offhand, e.g. Arah would only have the Chest, Legs or Weapon – not all 3).
Also can be rewarded from a PvP track and I wouldn’t know how to make it accessible in WvW without making it a joke to EotM players.
From what has been mentioned, the basic sentiment is that players want a way to level alternate characters without having to replay the same content over and over. That is understandable considering that by playing the game you reach level 80 by the time you reach Orr. Which means the only activities you have left are high level dungeons, exploration, fractals, Season content and world events/bosses. So roughly 70% to 80% of the game is completed by the time you have access to absolutely everything.
For reference in Guild Wars: Prophecies you reached the maximum level, 20, about 60% through the game, in Factions about 30% through the expansion and Nightfall about 25% through. Of course, Guild Wars was not an MMO but I found the information interesting.
As for the suggestion, would it not be easier to have an account-bound service, such as more character slots or bank/inventory expansions, which stores 10% to 20% of experience gained by post-level 80 characters to be used on other characters on the account? Roughly, this would mean that you would need to gain 200 to 100 levels over all of your level 80’s, which is why it is account-bound, to gain enough experience for a level 1 character to reach level 80. Basically, you need 254,000 experience to gain a level at level 80, I believe, and roughly 5,000,000 experience to go from level 1 to 80.
This way when you reach level 80 you benefit from gaining experience, other than a continued source of skill points, with 10% to 20% of the experience saved to an individuals account. Simply, continue playing and you will earn experience for other sub-level 80 characters. The experience accumulator suggestion, from my understanding, simply redistributes levels from a post-level 80 to a sub-level 80. Sorry everyone for the long post..
What about a bar that fills up as sort of an “experience container” on your character sheet, and you can click the bar on an alt to “dump the container” on the alt, giving the alt all the accumulated xp and resetting the bar.
Or what about each lvl 80 char giving a certain percentage xp gain to the account bonuses?
2 ways to do it and both options would be welcome…
lvl 80 played character passes off portions of xp to designated offline character under 80.
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
This isnt going to happen .
I agree but only for same classes
The way from lvl 1 to lvl 80 is where you learn to play your class, if you cant play your class (level it to 80) Then why you want it at lvl 80?
It will fill the game with useless players that leveled their characters just to try something that is Op.

The solution to this problem is actually to not have a rigid class system – I think at some point in the near future MMOs will move away from this paradigm. Rigid “pick you class before playing” systems just lead to altitis and a lack of investment in any particular toon.
As it stands, at the very least you should be given additive xp bonuses for each 80 you have.

You need 5 more tomes for when they add 3 new classes!

Horrible idea. Honestly if you think leveling in this game is hard or grindy, then you’ve never played another MMO in your life. This game probably has the easiest leveling system of any MMO on the market, and yes that includes after the feature patch. If you want multiple characters, then be willing to invest time into them actually playing them. Quit being lazy.
Only way I’d get behind this idea if it deleted the character you’re transferring from.
if added, i see this system implemented like this:
Experience points gained from exploration, gathering, completed events, heart quests, Vistas, PoI’s will go automatically to the character who is doing these things
while the experience earned by killing foes – within or outside of events, hearts – will go to an account " experience jar" from which the player can choose which character will take it all or a fraction of it
A new player will most likely use the “account jar” on his first character and while he/she is leveling a new character may explore the new zones, living story with the max level and don’t feel like his other characters are being neglected because he/she has no time to play them. They will know that they can use a bit of experience for them too.
If an account has all characters max level, then it will not be of such importance who is taking the experience from the “account jar”.

I have 600 skill points and a stack of Scrolls of Knowledge, I refuse to use an item as powerful as a Tome of Knowledge for skill points.
I know I am the minority on this, after all, there is probably not a lot of people who has 0 use for Tomes of Knowledge but I’d love to be able to sell these.

I have been playing MMOs since the late 90’s….so I have played plenty of MMOs….(Starwars Galaxies, Jedi grind…perma death.#2003..nuff said) Thing is I’m old, cranky and too busy in real life and only have time for grinding up one character in this game. So it would be nice to switch up which class I play in 80 zones and not have to do the grind to get there. I mean the whole hard grind thing is being taken out of games since the old days and replaced with instant gratification, lets just go all out and remove the grind altogether. Can’t beat em, join em xD
Nice Suggestion.
Not sure if this was already mentioned:
It should work like a pool where you can direct XP into and draw it back on another character from the account. When you gain XP on this alt and have the pool activated you will gain a (example) 100% bonus on every XP gained (including heart events, events, etc. etc. – maybe not lvl scrolls tho) untill the pool is empty.
Anarchy Online had something like that if i remember correctly
I’d like it if you could spend your Essence of Luck to boost your other yields (XP/Gold/Karma).

There are so many things that I wonder why you haven’t used them. Like the liquid karma and bags of coins. Also, why not sell those spoons? Once you get it, you have the collection progress permanently. You can sell them to a merchant.

YES.
Let people sell Tomes of Knowledge. I don’t understand why they were account bound to begin with.
Are you suggesting that once you have a level 80, of any profession and race, you get some sort of advantage for every other character, including those of different professions, races, or personal stories?
Do you mean, for instance, that you play your Level 80 Mesmer, but the benefits (XP) go to your Level 10 Engineer and your Level 31 Thief? All of them? One designated one? Does that apply to karma and other attainments?
I’m curious about what you have in mind with this suggestion, so thanks for the details.
Perhaps an account “mentor” system where you can select one max level character as the “mentor” and another sub-max level character as the “student.” The mentor’s experience is then passed to the student until then student reaches max level (or some other limitation of the devs’ choice).

Honestly, if you’re too busy to play a game, then you’re just too busy. That’s just life. It’s not the game developer’s job to make it so you don’t have to play the game to get the game’s rewards just because you’re too busy to play.
Sometimes I’m too busy too. Sometimes I fail to do my dailies because I’m too busy doing something else that day. Does that mean I should get the laurel and chest for free? No, I don’t think so.
It’s one thing to make it so that leveling isn’t super grindy, it’s another entirely to just get rid of it completely and let people get 80 characters for free without playing them.
