Suggestion: Dynamic gathering nodes
for immersion purposes it would make sense, seeing a random metal node in a forest, or a wood node in the middle of nowhere is kind of wierd yea lol
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.

You would get in trouble with the local miner’s union if you used any of the nodes in the quarry.
I do like this idea. I’d like to see some higher level nodes in areas like this though. Why not add an Orichalcum node to the Ebonhawke quarry? Even making it account bound like rich nodes would be another way to draw players back to low level areas. Come for the node, stay for an event or two.
I don’t think the nodes are entirely random. There are specific areas where they are set to appear in, and I’ve noticed in the past that there are places with lots of trees where you would expect them, and places with lots of ore nodes, again where you might expect to find an abundance of ore.
It’s not perfect, but I think they did take location into consideration in a lot of cases.

Yeah .. metal is mostly near to mountains, and you normally also don’t find any trees inside of caves.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I really like this idea. +1
generally specific areas do have concentrations of resources (mining nodes underground/in mountains, herb/veggie patches on farms, wood nodes in heavily wooded areas).
Nodes have specific placements, and are not randomly generated
Only in an MMO – walk into a forest and can’t find a tree to harvest.
My favorite was always FFXI and having a bone chip being an uncommon drop off of a skeleton. Obviously, I obliterated the first 20 of them into a fine powder until I was able to restrain myself enough to recover one.

Zhevra hooves. Nuff said. >_<
