There is more serious ideas like “Is warhorn a good elite spec weapon?”, “Is this build OP?”, “Is stronghold fun?”. ect. I think A-net posting polls would be the best idea for gauging how much QQ there is for things.

We have seen them do some polls before (preceding Lion’s Arch re-decoration) but as to whether they can bring that functionality to the forums, well, we won’t know until Anet say something.

Otherwise, I think it would work nicely, although some forum posters might use it as another means of ‘rebelling’ against Anet’s decisions by putting hyperbolic polls against every new feature Anet reveal.

But as a tool for gathering a quick pool of answers from the players, it might work (albeit a little biased as only those who use the forums would voice their vote) so perhaps an in-game poll functionality as well? Some food for thought.
