[Suggestion] New privacy and examine features
Do not want.
I also do not want. If you have a question about a build or a skin, ask the player.
Do not want.
just because someone doesn’t want the option for themselves, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be available for other people.
Personally, I’m on the opposite side of the wall here, I’d love to do more HoT stuff but I don’t want friends to feel bad or left behind if I get a higher mastery level than them. +1 for hide mastery levels.
Some people probably can’t even fathom why others would want these things, but just because someone doesn’t want the option for themselves, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be available for other people.
I feel like a lot of people missed this part. Maybe you guys didn’t read the whole thing.
It’s okay though, I’m mostly hoping for dev input.
Want! Want! Want!
A good example of this is in Second Life. Not only can you right click someone to see their profile but you can do it with objects as well. For example, here we would right click on a buff item to see the profile of the group that put it out for everyone. The ability to do it with our characters would solve 99% of the use cases though.
The only thing I’d want is to be able to see what skins are in use by a right-click on a toon, or somesuch. Sure, I could whisper them, but I’m more the sort who would just browse while waiting for an event or whatever.

While i don’t care about others showing their mastery levels or not, the ingame inspect option is a completely different matter. My dislike of it was never based on whether i need it or not – it’s because i’d rather not see it in the hands of others. And privacy options wouldn’t help here at all.

That doesn’t make any sense at all. Are you sure if what you’re trying to say here?

I don’t think anyone ‘yelled’ at you. Dissenting opinions should not be taken personally.
I’d rather Dev time and resources be spent on something else, like content. In case you think I say this because of a high Mastery level, my GL has 66 or 67, and I have just hit 100 or so; one-third of cap, and about one-half of cap, respectively.
You might consider adding your suggestion to the QoL Sticky above.
Good luck.

Yes. To restate it more simply:
There are options you judge based on usefulness to you. There are also options you judge based on what they could do in the hands of others. Inspect is in that second category.
And ability to block inspect wouldn’t change anything.
