Good morning ArenaNet

a lot of players have complained that they can’t change the character’s breed once created, we,players may understand that there be problems to realize it, such as problems derived from achievement, but you can’t hide that, however, the players want it, if you run a poll on all players, will surely give the same answer, that is: Yes !;
thinking about it carefully, having items that allow you to change the character’s sex, hair or even the entire esthetics,we don’t see a huge problem in adding an item that allows you to changing breed.
I would like to propose my own idea of how to implement a similar item with hypothetical cost gems (or add an option to the total makeover kit at an additional cost)

Now I will describe my idea:

- The cost that I prefer is 800 gems (I think is the most appropriate cost, however, because a change of breed has its weight, even for the t3 which will be explained later).

- This item will can be used only when the stories between the various breeds will coincide for problems related to personal story becouse it can created problems into the flow of the stories (in the case that isn’t possible change the personal story).

- Suppose the case where you want to change from human to charr and your human has the t3. When you change into Charr, the human’s t3 will be convert into the charr’s t3. In the wardarobe you will have the esthetics of each cultural armor that you have already unlocked and also the relative achievement,becouse,the item costs 800 gems. it will cost 10€ or 104 gold – / +, however, the value of the gems from gold are interchangeable, as it can change.

- As for the esthetics of the character itself, will be how to create a character from 0 (only from the esthetics point of view, so don’t change the name, anyway) but you will not have the access to the additional styles that total makeover kit that offers you; for additional styles, you will need to buy a total makeover kit.

- However the Identity Repair Kit, can also add the option of changing breed by increasing the cost of this item to 1600 gems

This is my idea, if you like, comment it becouse the insertion of this item in this game definitely will benefit all and I am sure also that he had also thought about the gains of ArenaNet, all balanced.

Maybe because race directly affects Personal Story, unlike all of the things you can change? There’s a reason it’s been suggested so many times and never considered by the devs, and that is because it’s just not feasible.

The devs have said it is a huge development issue, one which isn’t on their list with so many more pressing things to attend to. It requires a great deal of coding to sort since it affects so many things beyond just the ps, that said it wasn’t worth them investing time into, especially at a high risk of major bugs creeping in.

I highly doubt they will ever put resources into something which in the grand scheme of things, will be considered a very low priority.

I Want modify a step of my Project:

This Item, The Race Changer, will be used only in a extreme condition, when you really don’t like your breed because this item will reset your Personal Story and when you use this item, you will be advised of this reset through some panels (classic pop-up). This Item won’t erase all your progress like the achievements of the personal story related to the breed.But the Personal Story must be replayed if you want, however. This allow you to re-play a different story of a different breed without create a new character… you have access to re-take all the rewards from the personal story but not forget that you had also changed your breed! isn’t a simply item this!.

I Think that the cost of this Item can be increase to 900 gems. Is a package that include unfortunately the erase of your Personal Story with the previous breed but you can play a new Personal Story with new aspects, other rewards, other story. You must realize the fact that one time that you use this item, this be happen.

They’ve already said they don’t have a way to reset your personal story if you make a wrong choice at one of the branches. If they can’t do that then I doubt they can reset it to the start as that’s just a reset to an earlier point.

- Your McM rank and mastery points

- Your exotic and lower should bound items

Getting exotic gear and getting to lvl 80 is SO FAST in this game that you really have nothing to lose. The only problem you might have is if you have an exotic celestial armor set you really like, but you can replace it in 30 days, so no big deal. Don’t you think it’s easier than changing your entire background and personal story?

I have map completion and 450 tailor/weaponsmith on my ele. I’m not going to just throw those away. That said, I want to change my Charr to a Sylvari since Anet doesn’t know how to make armor look good on Charr.

I’m afraid this won’t happen due to your characters race being tied to the personal story. I couldn’t even get my personal story ‘reseted’ or ‘rearanged’ when I got the bug that scrambles the chronology of your story in Orr. It got patched but could not be fixed on my already existing character.
Right now with all those new living story stuff added to your personal story there’s even more code to manage. Remember that your race affects your whole story not just the few quests at the beginning.

He don’t say that you lost all, he say that you lost only your personal story but all that you have, isn’t.

I prefer a item where you can change your race, he not say that is easy.
If you delete a character, you lost the 100% exploration with this, items soulbound
People want this, i think, complicated, yes, but other games have this item (are ridiculous games but is an addition).

maybe can be realized a similar thing with “story journal” without erase completely your personal story but i not know how

In the final, if i want change my race i must delete my character? this is crazy, i must repeat all!

1. So you have intimate knowledge of the game code and can state that emphatically (after Devs have stated it’s NOT a simple thing to do).
2. What about the rewards you got for finishing the story already? Should Anet just deduct a set amount of gold from your bank? (not that it would be huge amount).

I’m sure there a plenty of other items neither you nor I have considered that make, “it’s not that hard to do.” untrue.

I’ll just keep this short.

- Only allow race change for level 80 characters that have completed the personal story (ie killed Zhaitan).

- Replace the personal story missions with a single story panel saying “Your past is clouded in mystery”. You do not get to replay anything.

- Remove and mail all race specific equipment to the player, set as accountbound/soulbound on equip (still race specific).

Boom all done no kittening problems period. Anet are just being lazy.

There is NO differencetween a character that was sent to the Vigil because of the bug, and one that chose the Vigil, so there is no way to do any automatic fix. CS does NOT have the ability to change a character’s active story steps, so this is not something that can be dealt with on a case by case basis if you petition them. I wish I had better news, but I’m just being brutally honest.”

They are saying they cant Change a person sotry mid point, b.c they never developed a method to do this.

Im talking about completely resetting the story not changing a mid point. Again show me where they cant just reset a story not b.c they didnt make a easy to click button but b.c of Coding limitations that makes it completely unable to make a new button to reset it.

Why? B.c Birthdays, soulbound items, map completion etc…

I have looked repeatedly for a specific reason why they can’t or won’t have race changes. Unfortunately while they imply reasons, the ones I’ve seen haven’t specifically said why they won’t. They’ve only said no, they won’t (with reasons that have loopholes).

It would be wonderful if ANet would say they can’t because personal story and no way to get around it even if the story is finished or if it’s philosophical, or simply too likely to have major bugs because of various conflicts.

- Your skill points and unlocked skills
- Your unlocked traits.
- Your dungeon unlocks. (story mode)
- Your extra bag slots. (from the gem store)
- Your map completion.

I’d like a race change option myself. I’ve been playing my little Asura since launch. It’s done EVERYTHING. I suffer from ADD, so typically my choices don’t stick. I’m amazed I went so far with it, but now I hate being Asura. I want nothing more than to keep all my progress and make a female Sylvari. Could I start a new character? Yes, but that means doing everything all over again.

I don’t see why it’s so difficult. As far as I’ve seen, the ONLY Personal Story missions effect are the first couple of chapters. If your character has already done those, why reset the story at all? You don’t have to, just leave it finished. The only thing I could see as an issue would be race restricted items such as cultural armors and the like that have been transmuted. These could be gotten around with a disclaimer warning players to remove all racial bound items prior to changing race.

And to people saying it is a low priority: This is a big money generator. Do you have any idea how many people probably spend cash to change their appearance every week? How many people spend cash on just cosmetics? Heck, a pair of (admittedly divisive) wings went on the gem store for a 24 hour period, and now half of the players in the game own it. That’s a lot of money, even if only half of them spent actual cash on it.

There’s no reason a paying customer can’t show interest in this. I expect we will see even more requests like mounts, dueling, and race change as new players join during HoT release.

Never going to happen as Anet has said themselves many times. Leveling in this game is fun and can be fast if you play that way. I would just make a new toon with the race you want.

They also said no Expansion but look what is coming out soon

Michael Jackson did it before it was cool.

Anyway, there are achievements and personal story quests connected to the races so this will pretty much never happen. It requires too much work for nothing really.
