[Suggestion] Temples Need a Change
I’m pretty sure you get credit for Defend events also. At least as far as skill unlocks go.
Just go for the world boss champ train, i gain dragonite 10x faster than empyreal now…
Please Put the Temples on a 2 or 3 Hour Timer that is unblockable and similar to the other Meta events. While leaving the Loot the same once per day per character per temple

Please, no. That will not help. I understand where you’re coming from, but putting more time gating will not solve it well.
I’ve got more dragonite than I know what to do with just from doing world bosses. I haven’t hardly touched a temple except to occasionally help with Balthazar.

They already change temples a few times since launch just because they pail in comparison to other events doesn’t mean they haven’t been worked on. Most stuff you mention they are already doing.

Anyway temples have been constantly been becoming difficult over time since launch. I think a major issue is the defend events arn’t as rewardable or as challenging as capture events is a bigger issue as far as mechanics go.
Although anet has never rewarded defending more then capturing for events.
My only problem is getting the Grandmaster XIII-Traits since the temples are always uncontested. It is great luck to be in the area exactly the moment they go to defend mode.

Eventually they are going to have uncontested all temples event or merchant like in south sun. So that there would be a reward for defending. i wonder if that is where they where going to put precursor before that got thrown under the buss.
They need some sort of timer to let people know when the temple events start and what stage.

IMHO these events need a few changes. Not big ones, but a few; chiefly, giving defense events and assault events identical rewards which share a cooldown. You shouldn’t want to leave the temple undefended for the sake of better rewards.
I would prefer the defend events to get harder over time, rather then have them put these on yet another timer to track.
Simply have the number of foes increase and/or get stronger for the next round, each time a defend is successful. This essentially simulates the gathering of reinforcements between battles, and eventually the defenders will simply have too many to kill and fail. Have the events lead by the champs that we have to take down to claim it, and make the more powerful each time they fail (ie, they are going away to level up in a sense).
Edit: Then we can have some fun seeing how long we can actually hold out.
I do think that each temple should have 3-4 defend events after which the event chain is automatically reset (via a reset event, not a “everything just disappeared and started over” function).
This would allow a mix of offense and defense with the events and should appeal to everyone if implemented correctly.
Alternately… a tower defense style event that gets harder each wave (as suggested above).
These events must forcefully reset at certain FIXED times.
Work like now meanwhile, but when certain times are reached, they must go back to the start.
Not everyone has time to sit around for 2 hours until they reset, just to lose all progress because someone called at the door or the landline rang and the whole event happened before they could come back.
Any other solution other than fixed times will simply do nothing to help. Nothing.
If a temple is controlled by the risen, call a force to retake it? If a temple is cleared, go get your gear, if your looking for the trait skill you get from both defense and claiming. If you want to take the temple but its clear, then jump to another shard. Or wait till its attacked. I would like to see a Clock on each temple when your in that specific map telling you when it was going to come under attack. I would love it, if it took twice the amount of players to HOLD a temple then it took to take the temple.
But asking Anet to “Speed up the process” is the age old term of being Spoon Fed. I’m a old style gamer, that grew up on the ideal that you should earn your rewards. If it took you over a year to get a set of armor and gear, it made it that much sweeter when you got it.
And to the Casuals which I always hated that term, because it creates a stereotype of lazy players, which about 80% of them simply have busier lives then others. I still think you should have to work for it, sorry. I say this because I use to be a casual gamer, if it took me TWO years to get a set of gear, it made it all the sweeter. But I guess that’s just me.
