Hello everyone! During my fairly short time in this game (3 months) I’ve came across different things that I’d like to see change. Don’t get me wrong, this is truly an amazing game and I simply want it to be even more awesome!

It’s mostly quality of life stuff but I think many people reading this will relate to these issues.

I found a nice template in the CDI forums so I’ll be using that.
-

Item Links and Guilds [FIXED]

What?
Change how linked items is handled if the player is in multiple guilds.

Current State
Currently when an item is linked it goes into which ever guild is being represented at the time.
For example; if guild 1 is represented and we type /g2 followed by a linked item, it will go to guild 1 even if it looks like it will go into guild 2 as we wanted. This is usually followed by a “sorry, wrong guild” but now this one goes into Guild 2 (it was supposed to go to guild 1 as they got the link by mistake).

Preferred State
The optimal solution for this would simply be to have links ignore guild representation all together so that in the example above, the item would be linked into Guild 2 even though guild 1 is being represented at the time of linking.

-

Salvaging & Quality Warnings

What?
Add an option regarding the Salvaging Warnings that appear.

Current State
Currently, when trying to salvage an item that’s of Rare or higher quality the player is being prompted with a “confirm” window (This is a very valuable piece of equipment. Are you sure you want to salvage ITEMNAME?

Preferred State
The idea itself is very good, don’t get me wrong. It’s just, being decked in full Ascended (or even exotic gear), rare gear isn’t that valuable anymore making it more an annoying thing having to confirm this all the time. I can’t remember where I saw it but I remember seeing an option for this in another game. It was like a drop-down menu so if it’s set to “Exotic” (which would be my choice), items of Exotics and higher will prompt this warning but not the ones below. In its current (and default) state this drop-down would say “Rare”.

-

Clickable Achievements

What?
Instead of having the earned achievement disappear, take me to the achievement please!

Current State
When I earn an achievement today, it pops up in the the bottom right corner, just above the minimap. If I click it, it vanishes! =(

Preferred State
While I do know it vanishes, I still catch myself clicking it expecting to be taken to that specific achievement in the Achievement UI. So instead of disappearing, clicking an achievement would open the achievement UI on that specific achievement.

-

Let the Achievement UI remember where I was

What?
Instead of being taken back to the “main menu” of the achievement frame, have the game remember where I was when I close the window.

Current State
Currently, if you’re looking at an achievement or a achievement category and then close the UI window, the game “forgets” where you were and you’re back at the Summary when the UI is opened again.

Preferred State
Preferably the page would take me where I left off so I don’t have to navigate down the topics back to where I were.

-

Change the header “Return to previous menu”

What?
Separate the Arrow and the Header on achievements

Current State
Currently when “zoomed” into an achievement the top header thing says “Return to previous menu”

Preferred State
It would be nice to be able to go to the category directly from the achievement. For example if we’re looking at “Fractal Frequenter”, clicking the header would take me to Fractals of the Mists and not to the Summary (let’s assume I clicked this achievement in recently completed).

I can understand that some want to be able to return to where they came from, I suppose it’s just logical to me / an old habit from another game. In order to keep both, the arrow that’s next to the header could be separated from the header itself, keeping this feature within that arrow. (see picture below)

-

Add individual achievements per legendary weapon

What?
Give each of the Legendary Weapons their own achievement.

Current State
-

Preferred State
As an achievement enthusiast I was actually disappointed to see there’s no achievement per legendary ( “only” for having up to 5). Planning to get them all, it would be nice to get an achievement for every unique legendary I soulbind. =]

I think that’s it for now, I’ll be replying to this post if I come up with something else. Thanks for your time (those who read this).

Agree with those. Excellent suggestions and after only three months of playing! I can’t remember offering anything that constructive after three months. I think I complained about some stupid thing.

Weapons slots, like the GW1 Equip Pack; it would be nice when I swap from Staff to DD, back to Staff my daggers returned to where they belong vs having that space now occupied by a claw, or some other spam drop. Being able to designate one bag as weapons only; or no loot so cons might be stored as well, would be very nice, no?

Thanks for the reply, I happen to be very picky with details and while I only played this game for 3 months I’ve been playing this kind of games for about 10 years. I figured it’s better to share my thoughts (than not to). I hope I ended up in the right part of the forums though, I was a bit unsure but I couldn’t find a specific suggestions forum but don’t hesitate to move this if it’s all wrong!

As for a template I couldn’t find one either but I took one in the CDI forums and remade it a bit, it should get the point across!

I normally don’t make posts like this due to certain toxic communities but I figured I’d make an exception this time since this specific community is everything but toxic, it’s really nice to see.

I have actually been thinking about this one, now that you mention it. I don’t know how to make this the best way though, maybe rightclicking a slot containing an item “binding” the slot to the item. If another item is manually put in that slot the bind is gone. Altho other items don’t appear in this slot automatically unless there is no other available slot? The problem is when swapping from sword/sword (for example) with a 2-hander. The offhand appear in the first available slot while the main hand just replace the 2-hander.

So bags that only armor and weapons can be in are not enought?

You know… if I were making a wintersday wish…. I’d love to be able to choose the purpose of a bag, like you choose the stats on some armour/weapons. You get a bag with a drop-down box with options like: “weapons, armour, rares, exotics, ascended, tonics, foods, trash, play-charr magazines, …” and you pick which you want it to be.

I mostly miss a side bar oder additional bars for: food, tonics, birthday gun, gizmos etc. Like there is in most other MMOs.

BTW: there are achievements for every single legendary since they introduced legendary crafting – well it’s for the precursor, but it’s a whole track.

‘would of been’ —> wrong

The step from crafting the precursor to having the legendary is quite big though, it would be cool to have an achievement per legendary as well. Thinking about effort from the devs I think it’s very easy to implement (could be wrong tho!).

Yes, but then again I’m not good with coding so I wouldn’t know. I do get this feeling that once you start changing one thing, another one might break.

I did come up with some more stuff that I initially forgot to list though so I’ll just go ahead and do it here.

-

Add Seconds to Chat Timestamps

What?
Make chat timestamps appear as : ‘hh:mm:ss’

Current State
Right now the chat timestamps only shows hours and minutes, but not seconds.

Preferred State
[19:54:53] rather than [19:54], it’s probably just an old habit from a different game but it’s confusing to think people wrote the same second. The only downside is less chatspace… so the best idea is probably to add an option with different formats.

-

Tab between players in the chat

What?
When the chat “editbox” is open, pressing tab will “tab” between the last whispered player. (much like target previous enemy)

Current State
At the moment pressing tab while having the editbox open switches between the chat tabs (for me it’s Main & Combat)

Preferred State
Instead of switching between chat Tabs pressing tab would switch between last whispered players. Maybe I’m doing it wrong but in it’s current state I see no way of utilizing this, altho I keep switching into the combat tab wanting to type to someone I spoke to earlier. Another good reason is if the chat is scrolled down too far so you can’t scroll up enough (saving scroll time alone) to select who ever you spoke to.

-

Individual keybinds for UI windows

What?
Add some extra keybinds for subcategories inside the Hero Dialog.

Current State
As we know, pressing H (Default bind) opens the Hero Dialog.

Preferred State
I don’t know if it is possible but it would be nice to be able to bind keys for the specific tabs. For example, Equipment on ‘H’ (like it is now), Build on ‘N’, Story Journal on ‘L’, Achievements on ‘Y’ and so on.

-

Track Dailies & Achievements at the same time

What?
Let us track both the daily quests(?) & achievements at the same time. (in the top right corner)

Current State
Currently the daily tracker is replaced by the achievements tracker or watcher.

Preferred State
As said above, it would be nice to track both at the same time. Additionally adding Fractal dailies to this would be cool as well, showing all three. If things gets too cluttered one can simply click the header to minimize the category.

That’s it for now!

Now this is one solid post. :o

If I am to add to this I’d say – make Runes / Sigils salvable. Doesn’t have to turn into valuable stuff, just anything that you can deposit into the back or just vendor trash. All those useless Runes & Sigils that just take up space is quite annoying.

You’re reading my mind, it would save a lot of time if this was the case. Maybe it’s intended to have it like it is though, not sure.

Can we actually think in this optimizations? It would make the game much more user friendly and also “reward-able”, I think you are fulfilling the gaps pretty well but this ones are in my point of view really important and would make allot the difference!
I would personally admit more suggestion like – could we “name” our bank tabs?
I know that we have a search tab already, but could it be like we have in the Guild Banks we can write on it, it’s really handy!

I really congratulate for Lulleh for this great ideas, with just 3 month of playing this game in my case, I was completely lost with so much information that I had that time.

Thanks for the reply Vicki! The naming of Bank tabs would be awesome, if possible (coding wise). While we’re at it, a search bar for the Meterial Storage would be amazing… =]

Just an idea that popped! =]

Add individual achievements per legendary weapon (Continuation)

Continuation
So, I just thought to add this to my idea regarding adding these achievements. There could be an additional achievement, as a meta requiring both the Soulbind x Legendary & it’s precursor collection.
Reward for the Meta
Apart from the achievement points (duh), perhaps a title tied to each meta for every individual legendary would be cool. I’m sure there’s some cool titles tied to this to be added. Also, taking this further there could be a big meta obtained for crafting(precursors)+soulbinding all legendaries. Maybe too hardcore, I don’t know but it just hit me as I’m writing this. =] Also, titles might be a bit too much but figured I’ll just add it and the devs could do what they see fit. This whole thing might seem kinda “endgame” or “hard” but comparing it to some other achievements I suppose it’s not too bad after all. (Kill 250k players in WvW, 1k Giants etc.)

So for example. If I buy Twilight off the TP but never crafted Dusk, I don’t get the meta achievement but Soulbind Twilight.

How ever, if I craft Dusk, I get the meta requiring both the collection to be completed for the precursor and Soulbinding the Legendary.

I mean, legendaries are kind of (part of) the endgame in Guild Wars 2 so this would be similar to the GWAMM / HoM stuff in GW1. In the end of the day, I suppose all players are some kind of hoarders / collectiors to a degree and this would put some more flavor on it! =]
