Super box...fun?
it’s a fun section, you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.
Tbh i find it fun to mess about in when i want a break from being stunned every sec in orr.
I hope anet keeps it in tbh.
Super Box… fun.
While I appreciate the cutesy clouds and terrible graphics are supposed to trigger a nostalgic response from me and make this new content fun, I can really only say 1 thing..
If I wanted to play a mario, I’d be playing mario.
I want to play Guild wars 2. Please spend your resources on content for that game.
I want to play Mario, and clearly my needs are greater than those of any minority or majority group, so therefore ANet will be contributing MORE resources into making the game more like Mario. Expect to be grabbing coins and munching mushrooms from now on.

It’s not entitlement nor is it ego. Shall I link you to the GW2 manifesto and remind you of the fact of 1 patch of class balancing after 7 months which still hasn’t changed much to the fact that certain classes outperform others in many ways.

The hater community (if a self-devouring organism could be termed such) links to the manifesto as much as a Marxist and is as ideologically fractured as one as well. Spare me your proselytizing.

I’m fine with them releasing fun temporary content.. But I still want to be able to PLAY my Mesmer…
What I don’t want is to hack away with a stupid little sword / key while all my abilities are taken away from me. It’s BORING.
There’s a reason I chose Mesmer, let me play it.

That’s funny, because I PLAY my Mesmer every day almost and I’ve yet to experience my abilities being taken away.

At least it distracts baddies from complaining about Thieves so we can avoid more unnecessary nerfs.

Oh snap, we got a fanboy here then. We don’t hate, we are losing trust in ANet regarding GW2, where important aspects of it are left in the dark for so long.
(edited by Flamenco.3894)
So quick to label. I’m not a fanboy but rather someone who enjoys the game as a game as opposed to a lifestyle, which is the implication I’m receiving due to so many people, yourself included, taking it much too seriously.

You don’t have to do it, you know?
I don’t know what concept you have of “fun”, but by all means go back to do whatever it stands as fun for you in gw2.
Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
how is it like mario?

You might want to look in the mirror and see a hypocrite.
You don’t even know what that means, there’s nothing in my post that could even be construed in the meanest sense of me being a hypocrite.
Regardless, if I’m looking in a mirror and I see a hypocrite, in all likelihood it would be on the observing side of the one-way mirror used to observe that tortured and withering mass of people who for some reason feel bad and have made it their mission to make everyone else feel bad too. Persons such as yourself.
You’re the one calling any opposition ‘haters’ and assume they enjoy the game as a lifestyle. If anyone is quick to label anybody it is you. If anyone is taking it too seriously then it is you, because if you wouldn’t you would not have responded in such emotional and irrational manner.
I called you a fanboy because of this, which is a feature that all fanboys have.
If you don’t like it, don’t play it. kittening hell this is why we can’t have nice things.
People, do I need to throw you all in the Continue screen in Super Adventure Box? I’m sure Moto would be happy to have you die horrible deaths ingame~
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
We had events in GW1 where frogs talked to us, rabbits sold us booze, we gambled with Canthans, we stood in rings for hours on end to win tokens and chat, we ran around in circles as beetles, and so much more. ANet has 99% of its fans because it makes crazy, off-the-wall, amazing, and totally irrelevant content like this. The super adventure box might not be for you, but ANet is giving enjoyable content for all walks of life; you will still get your exciting real-tyrian patches, but thankfully ANet also gives crazies like myself patches that include things like the super adventure box.
If there were a “Donate Gems to expanding the Super Adventure Box” option in the gem store with absolutely nothing else attached to it, you best believe I’d send them swaths of money.
I pray ANet never stops doing this sort of thing (and expanding on it).

Well you expressed your hatred for the update quite clearly so you have yourself to blame for providing the necessary evidence to say that. You, on the other hand, have done nothing so far but spout your ideologically-driven drivel, while making assumptions instantly regarding your opposition. Who here is illogical and irrational?
Taking it too seriously and emotionally? Now you really do show your ego. If you think I’m feeling anything but amusement as I interact with someone who holds such negative feelings towards the developer of a video game, you are deluding yourself.

Yawn.
You do realize that they split off different teams to work on different content, right?
The super box team is said to be very small, and is probably not taking any precious time from whatever it is you perceive to be broken.
Super Box is fun, and awesome. Go complain somewhere else.
I thought it was hilarious, until I started playing it. What a waste of 10 minutes.
I suppose they can’t please everybody.
Too bad you don’t like it. I find it quite amusing.
Astrid Strongheart, Norn Ranger.
“I wish juvenile wolves were bigger”
I admit that at first I thought “Really? this is what they’re wasting time on?”
Then I tried it and it really is quite fun
I really don’t see the problem with it as I have a feeling the team responsible for this aren’t the ones responsible for world balance and whatnot anyway…..
While I can kind of agree that the resources spent on this couldve been better served elsewhere… considering how well it was done and how huge it’s gone over with the playerbase, I hardly think it was a waste of resources.
I’m not sure why some people seem to believe that because one piece of content is being made, nothing else is being done or improved upon. It appears, based on posts I’ve seen from the Anet team, that a very small team worked on this update (Hence why they couldn’t get in skins for certain weapons). The rest of the game is still being worked on, even during this development. Not making this update would not magically make more content appear at a faster rate elsewhere in the game. The same people could have chosen to do something different, instead they apparently wanted to make something unique, fun, and still challenging.
I play an engineer with a rifle, obviously I can’t get a skin from this, yet the update has been so much fun, I just don’t care about the rewards quite as much as just playing the content.
You know, i wanna play Guild Wars 2 also.
The great thing is, it’s still there when I’m not in the Box. Though granted, it’s mostly WvW eating my time right now. I’ve got a lot yet to learn and unlearn playing that.
I played the Box for breaths of fresh air between bouts of getting my teeth kicked in by Maguuma Invader #334.
So, did Anet come to your house, put a gun to your head, and tell you to play the Super Adventure Box? Because I doubt they did. No one is forcing you to play it. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. It is not mandatory. It’s April Fool’s content, which Anet is pretty well known for from Guild Wars 1.
And, are you aware that a very tiny team made this content while the rest of them – which includes different teams for bug fixes and balancing – are working on other content? Because I doubt that, too. Actually, a lot of the people on these forums don’t seems to understand that. Anet has several different teams working on things all at the same time. The guy doing texture mapping art in Super Adventure Box isn’t responsible for bug fixes. Nor is the guy making 8-bit music the same person who handles programming NPC AI, etc. Come on, guys.
So, did Anet come to your house, put a gun to your head, and tell you to play the Super Adventure Box?
Probably, and since we know there’s apparently only one person working at ANet, nothing was done on the actual game while they were holding people at gunpoint.
As others have said, it’s quite likely that the SAB content was not something that took time away from any other aspect of the game that is currently in development. This is especially true when you talk about things like class balance. Think about it for a moment. Is it really all that likely that the same guys who do art or environmental design are the same guys who crunch the numbers and test the intricacies of class abilities? Does one guy in the art department require the combat balance team to stand around his desk while he concepts a new area?
The fact is, if you don’t like the content, you don’t have to do it. In an MMO, there is always going to be stuff you don’t enjoy because, by their very nature, MMOs need to appeal to a large cross section of players. I can understand some of the discontent in this case if they feel that the SAB content, particularly carry overs like the weapon skins, do not fit in the rest of the game world. But to complain just because a few hours of totally optional content was developed in the first place?
Dude… those weapon skins were MADE for Asuran cultural armor.
I don’t understand… did someone shove you through the portal or something? There is an exit area button at the bottom of the screen. Participation is completely optional.
The people who balance classes had absolutely no input, experience or time put into this mini-game. This was done by a very small team of JP creators over the last few months.
If you want to play your class there are 30+ zones, a dozen PvP maps, 1000’s of DE’s, and a bunch of dungeons created for just that purpose. There is no bonus of stat increase for playing this new mini-game so don’t participate if it isn’t your cup of tea.
Pretty much this is one of those things that anyone can do no matter what. And I honestly don’t see that they spent THAT much time or resources developing it as someone has stated it seems more jumping puzzlish than anything which is fine because Jps are also COMPLETELY optional…People don’t get that the thing with this game is no one is force to do anything… Not even the personal story…
This content is one of the best features on gw2…hahah. Honestly is epic.
The only thing I will agree is that the team could spend (half) the effort they made for this on other part of the games. sPvp, trait system and even living story are in great need of better care. Care that we can definitely see here, so why not else where?
I still get baffled at myself for how annoyied I get reading some posts here.
@Joker. They have diferente teams, the same people who mix with sPvP/other stuff arent the team that developed this.
And oh, I’m sure SAB took plenty of time to make, it’s not as easy as you guys think it could’ve been, I bet it was pretty complicated… And guess what, it wasn’t made in just a month.
Poor Josh. Him and his team builds phenomenal content in the Halloween patch and gets lambasted because people are awful at the game and can’t jump. Then they puts out some incredible content in the Super Adventure Box and people are complaining yet again. I’ve never had so much fun in a game yet.
Sure, the Box isn’t canon GW2 content, but it’s a phenomenal bit of content that helps break up some of the more monotonous content of the game. Plus, it has a lot of room for expansion.
The fact that you don’t enjoy a piece of content doesn’t mean that the majority doesn’t enjoy it, as well. Hell, it seems that the majority of players do, in fact, enjoy this content. Just take a look around the forums. Guess you’re just here to whinge.

People complaining so much over a fun, whimsical event.
Must be because GW2 is so super srs mode for pro, mature gamers. Bright colors and silly graphics are obviously too childish for the players here.
Stop complaining, or learn how to jump.

Indeed it is. Can not be more serious than a Norn Thief in Pastel Purple and Gold leather with the “Dreamer” auto attacking with haste.

- I want play Mario, but I’m so poor I can’t afford a Wii
- The people who create the 1st April content is a small group of people, and that’s also why there still lacking of weapon skins, etc etc. They’re still working on it (saw this on an official post)
I can’t believe someone could be so negative about one of the best events they’ve done so far.
I’m going to beat up monkeys, snakes, bees, turtles, alligators, rabbits, and frogs with a stick. Have fun not beating up 8-bit nature with a stick.

Oh my God. LOL at this thread! Sometimes, as you are walking through the forest, on your way to get someplace, annoyed at not making good time or at the hill for being so steep or at forgetting to bring your iPod charger, a ray of pure sunlight shoots across your path, bringing warmth and happiness to your world. That, dear readers, is most assuredly Super Adventure Box.

Yeah really… I don’t know why this isn’t a straightforward concept, but it seems to confuse the bejesus out of a ton of people.

Oh didn’t you know? You’re not allowed to speak ill of these puzzles nor question their existence in game.
…because it’s FUN, and lot’s of people DO like it. Despite how little sense they make, or that they don’t fit in at all with the rest of the game, and they’re not challenging for the right reasons. A bad camera and sloppy collision shouldn’t be why something is difficult.

You know what is not fun? Platform Jumping for items. It’s like one step away from literally jumping through hoops for general loot as well as exclusive content.

Its freaking fun and liking it. Hell, its been almost 4 months I have stopped playing the game.
My brother call me about this crazy retro thing and could not believe it!
