Superior rune of Privateer
Yeah I plan on having it on a “fun” build. Haven’t got around to doing it yet.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
I use it for my ranger. surprisingly its pretty well especially on a soldier build and use for theif as well for venom share might spam
Used it back when it still had MF.
Wouldn’t use the #6 regardless. Last thing I want is an uncontrollable pet.
Uncontrollable pet is also why I don’t use Rune of the Ogre. It would be a nice rune set otherwise.
I think there are a couple of other rune sets like that. “Hey! Nice rune s…ugh #4 and #6 GTFO >_<”.

If we’re on the topic of PvE, why would you care about anything other than DPS? Even if you are struggling to learn to play in equipment that makes use of damage modifying attributes, there isn’t any consequence to death on this game— not even repair costs exist anymore.
Did a fractal a few days ago where someone was using this. While PUGging I tend not to try to rock the boat, but when you’re doing the Arm Seals, the last thing you want is a stupid parrot attacking the targeted chanter.

LOL oh god. I’d be pretty p*ssed.

RIGHT?! :|
Well I would agree fractals would not be the place to use it. When I say PVE, I mean just roaming the open world, not dugeons
seems too much like a tweener.
power is nice
the 2/6 is kinda useless
the 4/6 is nice
the 6/6 is way worse than most other power/precision sets

What would you use in dungeons? And why not use that set in open world…?
Got it just for kicks to try out on my mesmer since I don’t do dungeons atm, and all I can say is…horrible. Freaking horrible.
I mean, the bird does decent damage and it’s pretty tanky. It’s also adorable. But it. Aggroes. Everything. Walking through an area? Mob hits me, bird aggroes. I’m killing a mob? When that mob dies, bird aggroes on something else. I have a mob targeted while I’m just running through and use a skill that doesn’t even do damage and thus shouldn’t put me in combat? Bird aggroes and puts me in combat.
It is the absolute worst thing for mapping, ever. The only positive thing about it is having an extra tank on a squishy class, purely for soloing or map completion – but the unpredictability is what makes it not worthwhile. Changing them to Strength runes soon because I honestly can’t stand it. At least with ranger pets you can call them back. With the bird you just have to hope it dies. And it will keep you in combat until the mob is dead, even if you’re hundreds of feet away.
It was cute the first few times the bird spawned, and I was impressed with its damage. Now not so much.

Well when your a regen warrior, that’s what you want. Use your dual axes and kick there kitten .
Look, I know this is not an optimum build.
But if you like trying different things, this is one you should try……not in dungeons.
At least the bird is 6 so you can replace it with another option. Ogre uncontrolled pet is 4 with the 5th and 6th giving goodish stats so you must keep this option. Wish they would put the Ogre rockdog on 6 so I could get rid of it.
I’ve used Privateer as a placeholder rune and for fun in open-world. I like the parrot and unpredictable aggro; adds spice to mapping and world bosses. One of my favorite things about the bird is how it does a drunken loop in the air before attacking something way across the map.
I used to use these runes more when they had magic find stats on them for farming dredge in Frostgorge, simply because it was fun to aggro as many things as I could in the area and kill them all. Good times.
Rune of the Privateer is cheap partly because it’s not ideal for dungeons as others have said (can interfere with pulling or kill something you don’t want killed) but also because people level tailoring by crafting it.

I use it on my “pirate” outfit, and picked it exclusively for the parrot. :P
