Thank god for crafting!
GW1 had many impressive late-game units.
Mursaat, Titans, Margonite, Destroyers, Shiro’ken.
In GW2 it’s hordes of chavs after hordes

You keep doing this. Actually, Guild Wars 1 PROPHECIES (you know the first Guild Wars game) had titans, and mursaat for most of the end game, with a few stone summit thrown in a couple of the missions. The last three missions take place on the Ring of Fire islands,
There weren’t ANY destroyers in Prophecies. There weren’t any Shuriken in Prophecies. There weren’t any Margonites in Prophecies.
So when they make the next installment and we fight Jormag, or whoever, they’ll add the next end zone.
Right now in Guild Wars 2, in end game zones we have undead, sons of svanir, karka, 80th level grawl, and other stuff as well.
I think you’ll find if you take the five end game zones and break them down bit by bit, you’ll find as much variety was there was in Prophecies.
Titans…Oh god the titans….Ran as a minionmancer (oldschoolterm) and then the final missions decided to make my build worthless lol.
On topic: I find 50-80 much easier than the previous levels ironically, there are more events and overall action. I don’t mind the risen because every mob in this game behaves the same: Run to you, attack, random control attack. Range remains ranged.
If there was a variation in enemy attack patterns I might care more.

lol, i remember leveling my fire ele in GW1, once you get to ring of fire, you are worthless because the titans had fire resistance….so you HAD to learn another build….i cursed quite a bit that day
Me too jordo!! Actually i kept my fire build out of prinicple…didnt lessen the cursing mind lol
omg i remember too when i reach ring of fire whit my ele, i have to rebuild myself whit air element whit some monk skill to support my team. in this game you start seeing risen from 40 to 80, is quite boring and annoying as hell.
edit: plz adm. don’t infarct me because i don’t praise you game in this comment. is my way to think and as i know this is democracy.
If the personal story was truly personal, personally I would’ve chosen to go north into the Shiverpeaks and end at 80 in Frostgorge sound.
Instead, all my characters (including my Norns) must do the boring, slow, inevitable, zombie-like march south to Orr…

It is sad, i would’ve loved to choose which path you get to take….the march to Jormag or the march to Zhaitan….though i could see Zhaitan not getting picked much lol

No, just use the winter spirit from the ranger to turn all your ineffective firespells into extremely effective waterspells
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
mmmm….well, when my ele went through ring of fire, it was all henchies and no heroes….only prophecies was out….
so i would have had to paired with a ranger who didn’t mind putting winter spirit on his bar
Of the six toons I have at level 80, I’ve crafted 4 from 60 to 80 as I couldn’t face the tedium of the Orrian slog.
In addition, my Mesmer and Elementalist crafted from 1 to 20 too, so in all they’ve had about 40 levels each from crafting.
I like the game at 80 when all options are available to me. I don’t feel as though I can properly make a build without having access to all trait points and exotic gear.
I honestly wish they’d kept the number of character levels the same as in GW1, especially when looking at Factions and Nightfall, where 1-20 was just the tutorial with the remaining 80% of the map being dedicated top-level content.
Levelling in GW2 is a chore after the first few toons.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

Every ranger had winter on his bar in the Ring of Fire. Besides, your ele could easily become a secondary ranger to bring it himself.

Even at level 79 you can level in lvl 40-50 zones as fast as in Orr, so i mostly ignored Orr on my later characters and just did Zones i liked more
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
^^This. I now have 3 lvl80 toons. My main has all PvE maps 100% but the other two characters don’t. Never even stepped either of those two into Orr maps. In fact the last character doesn’t have crafting leveled at all because I got the master title with other lower lvl toons before her.
I think map completion on the lower level zones is one thing that really shortened the time. That and using that character to do all the Frost/Flame DE’s and such.
Devs: Trait Challenge Issued
Okay i cannot see this anymore……
If you go shout to orr, yes you will see lots off undeath.
However is you go north to forstgorge sounds, you will meet:
jormag minions, minions form the crystal dragon (sorry cannot recall his name atm), flame legion, grawl ogers, separatist. And than I’m talking about the blazedrig steppes, iron marches, fireheart rise and forstgorge sound, instead of bloodtide coast (inquest and pirates in here also), sparkfly fen, mount mealstorm (btw inquest in here and destroyers) and orr.
And than I still did leave out the far shiverpeaks path to orr out, with dredge, destroyers, grawl.
So please take time to explore the world instead of taking every time the same path to level 80. And about ps, do it together with friend or guildies, makes it way more fun.
And than I’m leaving out lots of other option like wvwvw, low level zones, dungeons, ect, ect, ect…..
Get out and explore the game
Nuff siad….. thank you.
p.s. I did not play gw1 myself but please if you talk about it, keep in mind gw1 have been running for 7 years, that is 7 years of content updates, gw2 is not even running for a year yet.

HAAHAHAHAHAHAH omg i remember it now, is true i remember winter. all damage become cold damage. is the only time i change my favorable wing spirit.

If that happened today, here’s what the post would look like:
Angry GW1 Player:Dear Anet,
Kitten you. I can’t believe you think making an entire build useless in the ring of fire is good design. Do you guys even play your own game? I spent the whole game as fire, and now I’m FORCED to switch due to this short-sighted mechanic. So much for playing the game my way. Thanks for nothing.
I just wanted a AAA MMO with no sub made by ArenaNet. And it’s awesome.”
You aren’t very honest with that rant. The level 50+ zones are :
- Blootide Coast. 45-55. Some odd risen presence but mostly march creatures
- Iron Marches. 50-60. Not a single risen in sight. Ghosts and branded creatures mostly with the local wildlife.
- Timberline Falls. 50-60. No risen. Dredge and mountain creatures
- Sparkfly Fen. 55-65. First map with strong risen presence. Still mostly concentrated in the bottom half and they don’t represent more than half the hostile creatures there
- Fireheart Rise. 60-70. No risen. Flame legion region.
- Mount Maelstrom. 60-70. Already explained.
- Straights of Devastation. 70-75. More than half the map is Orr itself.
- Frostgorge Sound. 70-80.
- Malchor’s Leap. 75-80. Orr.
- Cursed Shore. 80. Orr.
So, it gives us, non risen :
- Iron Marches. 50-60.
- Timberline Falls. 50-60.
- Fireheart Rise. 60-70.
- Mount Maelstrom. 60-70.
- Frostgorge Sound. 70-80.
vs risen :
- Sparkfly Fen. 55-65.
- Straights of Devastation. 70-75.
- Malchor’s Leap. 75-80.
- Cursed Shore. 80.
And a mixed case :
- Blootide Coast. 45-55.
There is a full leveling path from 50 to 80 avoiding risens altogether and less than half the maps are full of them.
Unfortunately I think the Risen problem stems from the fact that people will probably be following their personal story as they level, and indeed use it as a yardstick while levelling. And the personal story is almost completely Risen-oriented from about level 40 onwards.
It’s no wonder people associate high levels with Risen.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Don’t you all know, zombies and undead automatically make the game more awesome and cool (probably more than 20% cooler). They are new and exciting content that hasn’t been seen a thousand times before!
In all seroiusness, the whole undead thing was the biggest disappointment of the entire game for me, even above and beyond Anets gem store obsession.
I was going to say similar, stof.
Also, when the first dragon we fight is the one that raised a nation up in undeath, it makes sense to me that entering its territory presents us all with a lot of undead to fight.

The undead though, isn’t the end..it’s the beginning. It’s just the first dragon, and now that it’s been vanquished, we can move on to icebrood, destroyers, and branded creatures. It’s not over yet.
