I haven’t posted much here, but have read a bit and it just seems wrong. I play this semi-casually (and my better half plays too). We get our daily most days, get a monthly most of the time, do some of the living world events, although we’ve never completed one. We do fractals, dungeons, world bosses and recently started WvW after we got some ascended gear (rest is exotics). We have a good grip of our builds with the help of some of the awesome people in the community and all their debates back and forth on what’s best. It’s helped us a lot build something we find fun and competitive. We really like WvW but find sPvP very dull. Have never ever crafted in a MMO – even this GW2 has made me enjoy – skills of 500, 500, 400, 400, 400, 400 on my toons says it all.
I have played most MMO’s since EQ and the last time I had this kind of fun was back in DAoC – although GW2 would win for me even if DAoC was technically up to date. This is the best MMO I have ever played and also the best game in general I have ever played. In daoc I got one toon to max level but it took me a while. Since then GW2 is the first game where I have reached max level before being bored silly. I have always wanted to enjoy MMO’s as the concept is amazing. In GW2 I have 2 lvl 80, two lvl 70+ and a few alts between 20 and 30. GW2 is the first MMO where I actually enjoy the game itself and not just play for the next little virtual reward until I can’t be kitten d.
GW2 has done everything right with their design. The flat level progression, limited item grind to have a viable toon – and all the rest.
I’ve seen the new MMO’s on the horizon and while the new sandbox philosophy is much to my liking i’ve seen so many promises and so poor deliveries so very often since EQ – but GW2 delivered and gave me what I wanted. I am certain when I try out some of those new mmo’s I’ll return to GW2 simply because I’ll want the new game to be just like it.
I haven’t had this kind of fun for such a span of time ever before in a video game(have played since beta).
Thank you Arena Net for this great game. We’ve had so much fun with it and even the oldest daughter (7,52 years old) messes around in queensdale once in a while just exploring and looking at stuff.
