The New Steam Game Controller
ANet isn’t likely to want to spend valuable dev time supporting non-standard input devices. Sure, if everything goes smoothly, it could encourage some new players to the game. Except, stuff like this is rarely smooth going and ANet would have to be responsible for Customer Service and bug fixing when things go bork.
Instead, I think it’s more likely that folks might release 3rd party shareware/freeware that can be used to fool the PC into treating controller inputs like a mouse/keyboard, similar to what Logitech does for the G13 or what Belkin does for the Nostromo.
it first needs to be supported by valve trough steam to make it compatible and i don’t think Anet is gonna waste time for the <5% of players who want this.

?
I will find that strange because controllers should be supported by the os not steam.
OP can map the controller himself if he or she wants
if you just want to play gw2 casually then check out the links at the end of my post
but if you plan on being good in any game mode dont use a controller!!!
in pvp you will be bad on most classes compared to other players (classes with teleports cant be played properly at all with a controller…)
but if you want to try:

EDIT: forgot that you were searching for info on steam controller for gw2…
ignore my links then xD

Yeah I don’t plan to try this in pvp or wvw. its more of when i’m maxin relaxin playing pve. I guess we will have to wait and find out how steam sets up the controller function. I knew about the 3rd party software but I didn’t really want to go through all of that set up for open world pve
From what I can tell it’ll function as a normal PC video game controller (much like a 360 pad), so you could use it in the same way you use a PS3 or 360 pad to play GW2. I worked out a way to do just that with my 360 wired pad using Xpadder, and it’s great fun playing with it while casual map completing.
