The T6 Mat farm in Orr is basically gone now.
It was expected and called for!
But the amount of Moldy Bag drops has increased
(and with it, their price on the TP dropped a little)
It was expected and called for!
I don’t see how it was called for. Certainly not when you need 250 of each T6 mat to make a legendary.
In fact, the new orr they had introduced offered a way to gain the mats while gaining XP for bloodstones and trying for mystic clovers.
Now, orr drops are nearly what they were before. I was actually having fun in orr again and now there is almost no reason to go there again.
Is it asking too much to be able to farm for a legendary gift without it being soul-crushingly demoralizing?
I half expect them to put more material stuff in the laurel rewards and continue to nerf drop rates everywhere.
Surely that would solve everything, right? I mean, if you could trade 1 laurel for 1 T6 mat… That’d just take you 2000 days to get all the materials required to craft a single gift of fortune.
Two things.
1. Unless you already have your clovers, you shouldn’t care one bit about t6 mats.
Certainly not when you need 250 of each T6 mat to make a legendary.
2. Gifts of Might and Magic cost me around 100 dosh. 100 dosh is easily farmable in a week.
And then there’s the precursor issue…

If they want to increase the drop rate of all the fine mats? No problem with that. Just do it everywhere else and not only in Orr. Also, the drop rate in this case was so high that players got a hold in so much bags, that in some cases a t6 stack of 250 could be easily reached in a week or two!
Increasing their loot rate is not the option to overcome the legendary demoralizing grind!
I don’t get it. T6 drops from more mobs and is therefor easier to farm while prices on TP drop across the board. What is OP complaining about exactly?

The newest patch “corrected” the new orr drop rates they had just introduced. So even though the TP are lower then say, a week ago, they essentially just reversed the big orr content patch they had just introduced.
I’m saying that because yesterday, I was getting stacks of 1-2 of each type of T6 mat. Now, after the latest quick-fix patch, I’m getting basically no t6 mats, besides an occasional ancient bone. They reverted orr drops to boring dull orr drops, as they were prepatch.
Are you saying that drops were better only for 1 day or a few hours?
If that’s the case, they obviously never intended to increase the base drop in addition to the moldy bags, get over it.
Sooo, you are complaining that fairly rare items are not dropping like rain anymore?
Kittens forbid that some items are actually somewhat more difficult to get…
Really, people do expect legendaries to be handed to them -_-
It was something like this:
Previous 28th of Jan:
Community : “Oh no…. drops in Orr sukx big time”
Devs meeting : “Well let’s adjust the drops”
After 28th of Jan:
Community : “Yupiii, the drops are huge”
Devs : “ kitten i shouldn’t have drunk that last jar of beer… i added an extra 0 to the drop rate”
Minor patch to correct the drop rate:
Devs : “Working as intended now”
Community: "RAAAAAGGGGEEEEE !!!! "

drops were at least more varied for a day. Now it is only like ancient bone here and there + some dust/venom sacks. Exactly as it was before the patch.
Also, I believe they cut the drop of Moldy Bags at least by half to almost same level as it was before the patch.

Pretty much, gchat was full of “Let’s go Orr and enjoy the loot tables before the nerf”.

Conveniently forgetting that the tier6 mats constitute a whopping 1/32 of the legendary.

“Various Risen creatures have had their loot tables updated to provide more varied crafting materials.”
From the 28th patch notes.
It’s clear that it was intended, at least initially.
And in response to Tosha, no, I do not expect legendaries to just be “handed” to people. There’s plenty of difficult things to obtain, such as the specific gifts and the precursor.
However, as someone who cannot play every day, or for extremely long periods of time, my hopes were raised when T6 mats started dropping more frequently. It was actually the thing that inspired me to work on my legendary again, because I had previously given up.
However, after farming for a while today, the drops seem almost no different than they were pre-28th-patch.
If anything, it’s just disheartening.
Either it’s some sort of patch of bad luck or something weird is going on but I am not even getting the drops I got before the initial flame and frost patch. A whole spawn of penitent mobs may not drop anything at all or then they drop a single item which may be garment, crafting mat, or gear? That’s usually a single drop per 5-10 enemies.
I don’t think that ability to turn karma into jewelry box is even close to balancing this out since you have to complete whole event and get roughly 300 karma if I remember right?
I think I’m going to see how beneficial “event tagging” will be. Basically kill just enough mobs to get a gold reward and then rush to next event. Allows me to maximize karma gains since as long as you are within the zone you don’t need to be present when the event finishes.

More varied, not in higher volume. I’ve gotten Vicious Fangs from the mobs at the Penitent defense today. Can’t recall ever getting that before (maybe in Moldy Bags, but certainly not from the mob itself).

And for a little while, Orr was alive and fun to play in again.
it is a kitten shame they keep trying to force us to buy gems in order to feed the manipulators at the TP. (hint same people)
Making a gaming population nets you gems as a reward as players are happy and willing to give you money.
DR and nerfed drops make players feel you are reaching into their pockets. Makes people feel stingy and dont buy gems.
Stop being stingy lighten up the loot tables and reap rewards. If not you get what you get now. constant criticism on the forums about you driving players to buy gems.

People having fun in Guild Wars 2? NERF IT NOW!!

So, as someone already said, they are able to monitor drops, and tell when they think something is wrong, hm…

I’m about ready for a game that does not have Diminished returns, and lets you make gold hunting and exploring the way you like. And with many items available to buy with your gold!
So, as someone already said, they are able to monitor drops, and tell when they think something is wrong, hm…
yeah so why the heck they did ask us to provide data on “percieved strange loot behaviour” IF they can monitor drops?
Clearly they realised ppl are having fun (or more probably botters make too much profit).

Obviously they have no test server or QA team to test drop rates, so they tell us to let them know when they give us good drops
The bottom line is its wrong for any game to encourage extremely hardcore grinding so people sit at their computers for 8 to 10 hours a day, most days if not every day after or before work or school, not getting out for fresh air, avoiding chores.
In regards to housebound people there are still other games if you need to pass the time or reading a book or watching some tv, chatting to people. If games didn’t pander to the hardcore they wouldn’t lose players, they might even gain more. Those players that really need to spend so much time on their computer or that are addicted can have more than one game on the go.
This way an MMO doesn’t need to focus so much on repetition, grind and people who put in a fair amount of game time can all be rewarded well.

This is what is ridiculous about this game. Stop for a second and read what you just wrote.
“In fact, the new orr they had introduced offered a way to gain the mats while gaining XP for bloodstones and trying for mystic clovers.”
It has been reduced to a grind at EVERY TURN. There is no context of story or gameplay. You are out there doing chores to earn coins to buy things. And it leans more on RNG and gating than any other game of this type.
It truly is an abomination of a progression model, and I simply can’t help but feel it exists solely to put pain points in to lead players to the cash shop instead.
This is all you need to see as to why f2p is bad for game design.

I think you were led astray by my post. What I meant was that the 28th patch orr (where T6 mats dropped frequently) LESSENED the grind by basically giving you higher chances at all sorts of mats. It was fun because you didn’t know which mat you would get.
Now, with the reverted orr, it seems like you once again have to grind specific enemies again and for much longer periods.
Granted, I don’t like grinding for insanely long periods of time to make cool weapons. I agree with you that the grind and RNG is a tad ridiculous. That’s why I was so upset. Because the thing that lessened the grind a bit is quickly reverted.
Guys guys guys, you’ve got it all wrong! MIKE SAID that “we don’t make grindy games”, clearly, CLEARLY, you’re wrong and he’s right. Legendary weapons have the same stats as L80 Exotics, but with a different skin. So do Ascended gears. There is NO gear treadmill!
and then I awoke and found to my dismay that it was all a dream
(Actually Mike did say that)

Orr was so much fun yesterday-I actually felt like fighting risen on my way to the next event.
Now,I will never take another step in Orr

Orr was so much fun that after I got back from work today, I logged back on to Malchor’s to play it again.
Then I realised that the game is geared towards the un/(der)employed. They got to farm right till the patch, I guess. Whilst everyone else gets to watch their wealth climb high XD

This is exactly what I did. I got home from the late night shift, and first thing I wanted to do was hunt some more T6 stuff. I was really enjoying it. Then, as soon as I saw the patcher, I read the notes and my heart sank.
._.
Oh well, back to fractals. That’s the only way to make any progress now.
Lesson learned: 1-When you suddenly experience great drops after a patch… keep your mouth shut.
2-That the entire thread on reporting drop rates is a ruse. If they know exactly what drops and how much to the point they rush out a patch to nerf it within hours… well then they know exactly what all those people in that thread are whining about. (<- myself included)
I don’t play the TP. I don’t make tons of gold on anything. I just want to feel slightly rewarded for my time. I would like to create more than one set of exotics for my main. I would like to gear up my alts as they reach lvl 80. I want to do it all by crafting or drops. (still haven’t seen a single exotic drop in game, except map completion & karka chest).
The new PvE chests are not working since I have seen white items in them and most greens and the two rares I’ve seen come from looting a corpse not a box. In fact I have only seen two boxes so far. (EDIT: I did get 1 box with a green in it)
I love the idea of the box for its use to track loot quantity and quality but it has to work first.
And don’t get me started on the fact that champs and vets still drop lousy to no loot at all.
If people go hardcore and monopolize a market or drive prices down by farming a ton of mats.. that is their perogative. What is to stop someone that has horded ori ore since the start of the game suddenly list 20-30 stacks and totally control market prices? Same goes for ecto. What is to stop someone from driving prices in one direction or another simply by hording tons of them.
As a casual that has seen DR attach itself and not go away for days sometimes longer, let us get some mats. And no changing zones, switching to alts, doing DE’s, gathering nodes, killing varied mobs.. does not change it. It just happens and doesn’t go away.
Let us have our shiny loot/mats.

Orr was fun for a day. There was a ton of ppl there, every where I went there was a group just running around. There were ppl to do the DE’s with and drops were woth while. Now I am lucky if I get anything other than the grey skulls that drop(can’t remember what they are called but you know what im talking about.
I will not be going to Orr anymore.

Relax.
They lowered the t6 mat drop rate and increased the t5 rate. Moldy bag rate seems the same.
In the end you’re better off than pre-patch

Well, of this go on how it is now we are soon out of crystalline dust..
Seriously, increase the drop amount at the amount you removed with the bots. ;-)
I fail to see how more t5 mats is better than more t6 mats.

It’s not. But overall you’re better off before the patch on Jan. 28 thanks to the huge influx of moldy bags.

Since when did “More variety” equal an increase in individual item drop rates? It’s meant to increase the spectrum of items dropped.
No where does it say “We have increased the base drop rate of T6 crafting materials across the board”
And the risen are dropping a larger variety of crafting materials. Sounds like the OP lacks reading comprehension.
More people seemed to be in Orr when I was there yesterday, and the Risen did seem to drop more varied loot. But I havent been in Orr for about 2 – 3 weeks before the 28th’s patch so my memory of their drop rates is funny. Maybe I will spend more time there.
I’m still a little confused about this diminishing return deal. I’ve never really spent more than an hour or two in 1 spot, but I’ve always liked Orr and have considered spending an evening with a group just running around killing risen all night …. would this bee a bad idea..? Would I start to NOT get drops because I wanted to spend my night there? Can anyone elaborate for me please?
(I’m not talking about just 1 spot like around arah entrance or something, we would crawl around the whole map doing events and slaying everything)
Thanks.
