The wait was not worth it
Everything you said is 100% exactly how most if not all of us seasoned mmo players feel. It’s those that have never played an mmo before gw2 or are just starting to play mmos that will disagree with you.
Good job and excellent commentary.
It’s beyond absurd to speak for anyone other than yourself on matters like this. Assigning your view to an entire community is nothing more than a blatantly-arrogant attempt at making your opinions seem more legitimate. For instance, I played WoW for four or five years before GW2, and, apart from the “first MMO” wonder and magic of WoW, I feel that GW2 is superior in just about every way. So stop trying to speak for me; it’s disgraceful.

These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
at first i though you are quitting, and wanted to reply: " can i have your stuff?"
then i read all three posts, and i still have no idea what your point is.on more serious note, there is nothing to play today except gw2.
yes, it is sad.
not wildstar nor ESO will satisfy you. WOW is trash don’t even bother with it.
from time to time i try to play different MMO, and i always find myself comparing them to GW2. they are always inferior to GW2 in some way…
then i come back.our only hope is if SOE will make EQN up to its hype.
Funny you mentioned Elder Scrolls Online. Folks like to say GW2’s combat is fast paced because it has a dodge roll mechanic.
protip ESO has the same dodge roll mechanic. ESO also has 5 abilities and an ultimate ability – with instant weapon swap for 5 new abilities and an ultimate.
On top of that you actually block in ESO by holding down your right mouse button.
You also control the power of your attacks with staff, bow, or melee weapon by how long you hold down your mouse button. This plays into the strategy. If you block a mobs power attack (has a windup animation) then follow it up quickly with a power attack, you knock them down. The same for casters, their hard hitting spells have a cast time, and if you interrupt them you knock them down.
The animations are top notch. Armor clipping is practically non existent, amazing story..
And I can guarantee that if you like GW2’s combat, you will be blown away by ESO’s combat.
So yeah, they have choices.
Have you tried ESO AvA? Half the battle is getting on a balanced map…the majority are stupidly one sided…and will remain that way for 3 months

I’m pretty happy with it.
Love the renown hearts splash. Love no cost repair and free trait changes.
Don’t mind the wardrobe, UI, World boss timer, trait changes at all.
Don’t mind the Champion train or Dungeon nerfing at all.
So, overall, it was worth the wait.

Wow, some of the responses are pretty vicious, especially from one particular poster. Can’t a discussion of opinions be a little less confrontational? Holy cows.
My opinion is that the OP made valid points. I’m not as emotionally attached to this game or any game that I won’t walk away when I get bored with the next thing that comes along. This is OP’s point – he’s bored. He listed his reasons in a very straightforward way and, as I read it, without malice. It kills me that his opinion is being viciously attacked. Just, wow.

I have to agree, although some updates came in rather late, what I got for $40 was insane, worth it.
I always get extremely demoralized after reading posts like this…
If you don’t like Guild Wars 2 anymore, then there is a good chance that other people don’t like Guild Wars 2 anymore either.
And if other people don’t like Guild Wars 2 anymore, then there’s a good possibility that one day a lot of people won’t like Guild Wars 2 anymore.
And if a lot of people don’t like Guild Wars 2 anymore, then the game would one day begin to decline.
And if the game declines, the game can be shut down.
And if the game is shut down, then I won’t be able to play it anymore…
And subsequently WWIII begins, I get a terminal illness, and a plane crashes into my house.
Thanks for that.
To the OP: Great post, BFS. Sadly, you point out what a lot of us are feeling right now towards the current state of GW2.
My biggest disappointment with the current patch was the change to town clothes. I used to love hanging out in LA, looking at the creative costumes that folks came up with. There were so many ideas that I would have never considered and I enjoyed chatting about other players’ ideas. Nowadays, many games are moving towards more clothing and costume options, but it seems like Anet just hit the DELETE button on that entire part of the game.

Surprise surprise, the LW was a bad idea with an even worse execution that pretty much single-handedly destroyed the game. Something most people new right off the bat, and those that didn’t had figured it out by a year ago.

I’ll posit the same question to you. I said that it’s ridiculous to speak for anyone other than yourself, and yourself alone, and your retort is “I only said most people, not all?” That’s not a valid defense to my complaint.

Yep. for the love of God can they just leave the content in and let us play it when we want? Why is it so kitten hard to give the customer what they want with this company? fire the director in my opinion.
You cant " take a break" from this game because when you come back nothing has changed so you log out again with nothing to do.

You mean that you don’t like repeating the same boring world events for the last two years? :P
GW2 NEEDS an expansion and I am afraid that if it isn’t delivered soon that many players will be bored and leave.

That sorta already started happening months ago I’m afraid. Now it might get worse.
Anyway, awesome posts OP.
Look on the bright side, or leave.
Thanks.
I know I’m not playing until a new expansion like Factions or Nightfall.
What happened ANet? I know GW2 has “More” to put in but the living story has felt like bread crumbs compared to the full meals the expansions gave us.
hopefully, they change directions in which they are taking the game. It was highly disappointing
Ahhhh stormleaf. You’re super twitchy today. Have a nap. You have the same indignation as a five year old who thinks his dads bigger than everyone elses and thinks screaming loudly makes it true.
Thanks op, brilliant post summed it up nicely. Theres just nothing left to do in game except repeat play – wvw, fractals, dungeons. All of which is completely unchanging, same places, zerg same keeps, stand same spots. I’ve mapped 4 times now, love the world but pretty only lasts so long, gw1 had a world that was rich in story and lore and you just itched to explore it and learn more of the charr and the dwarves. Theres no lore here to get excited about, its changes every ls – now with krait and dredge! whee!
Just curious, is this a blog post?

That was an interesting read, I agree with some things. Specifically the sickening nature of monetization that has totally sullied Arenanet in my eyes.
very well spoken and reasonable opening post, completely valid for a customer to state their feelings of a much anticipated game patch.. i’m quite appalled at other peoples failed attempts to discredit that persons kindly stated opinion, but i am at my best times a mature individual who will simply disregard those.. i’ve read many criticisms in this thread which i find loosely based and do not agree with.. however, there have been many valid concerns for this game raised over time and stated plainly on this forum..
to address the thread title, i who am also a player of this game since 2 server tests and early start, i personally do not find the most recent patch to be anything ground breaking or even a prelude.. not just this, but the continual “sounds good on paper” changes the development of this game has embraced as apposed to relative updates that would move it forward leave me disappointed more than anything else.. {meaning there are many aspects of the game for some users to enjoy} but ultimately i could not in good conscience recommend this to people seeking a depth filled mmo, but rather only for people looking to occasionally kill time with a social network farming sim.

Really? These are the most pedantic comments I have ever seen. Can’t you address the issue instead of nitpicking like a grammarian with an unabridged dictionary?
No one believes that anyone here speaks for everyone else.
Or at the very least look up hyperbole first.
(Edit: initial comment about the worst comments I have ever seen were an intentional use of hyperbole, just in case you missed it.)

It’s ad hominem; when you can’t come up with a good enough argument, you simply fixate on one aspect of a post or the author’s history that doesn’t even relate and try to discredit them based on that.
Oh, your post used “your” instead of “you’re”; you’re obviously mentally handicapped and know nothing cy@.
