some guildies and i have discussed the future possibilities of the expansions and their in depth ‘could-happens’. we have found certain things like always saying, “i hope they come out with a new race” or “i want new professions”.
I would love to have new professions, however the old ones: Dervish, Ritualist, etc.
The races i could live without, however it has come to many people’s attention as well as my own, that the Tengu would be cool.
Many have talked and we have conversed that the tengu will play a large role in the newer possible expansions, such as story line, missions/quests/events, new land and if we can play them as a race themselves.
Now, i personally believe that the Tengu are a possibility as a race in their own being. That being said, we have to have an amount of possible proof. The not-so-official proof i have is that the Tengu are strongly/heavily guarding their walls around Dominion of Winds, which will IMO be the Tengu starter area, and the ‘homeland’ for them, just as Divinity’s Reach is to humans, Black citadel, Hoelbrak, Rata Sum, etc.
The Tengu are a strong possibility based on the fact that they are given the Sea of Sorrows, and have all of that area to own and use, as Caledon Forest, Queensdale, Plains of Ashford, etc. and essentially Anet has not offered much information on the Tengu themselves, except that they are ALL migrant to that area, very protective of what’s inside, (because they’re secretly working on all the areas for a starter, and leveling areas) to be released in future discussion.

That’s a good thread to read up on the races, plenty of debate between players supporting “this” race over “that” race, lore arguments, etc. Good stuff. It seems the Tengu are pretty unanimously expected to be the next playable race. Other big nominees are Largos (my vote!) and Kodan.

As it is I don’t think new classes should be considered given the current Rift the community is experiencing in terms of class viability. If we get new ones tho, I hope we get Dervishes back. I mained a Dervish for many years and I’ll be quite happy to see any not totally cliche weapon type used in-game.

Tengu is probably our best bet by far for a new race.
