To Those Who Have Quit This Game
Well… I tend to spend My money where I play. And My current opinion is…this game was awesome at launch…and each patch takes it further and further away from what I enjoyed. I think it is headed in the wrong direction. So at first I played, and didn’t buy. But… it is so hard to farm Gold consistently… that I saw myself Buying Gold with gems. So I decided if I am gonna spend money., I may as well spend it where I enjoy playing.
When I see that gw2 is headed in the right direction for me…….
I’ll return, and shop.

noooo you can make plentyyy of gold, doing dungeons and farming/gathering. and even if you want to buy gems, its simple, buy gem with gold when gems are cheap and buy gold with gems when gold is cheap. you can merchant this u know =/…..it just takes time, everything takes time. the best part of it all is that for the necessary thingsu really and i mean REALLY dont need much gold…at all. for the hard to get stuff….it takes effort dude =/….thats what the game is for, to make u spend time on it. either way, its way good now i honestly believe that its great and if u log on even once during the 2week events that will come, then u will eventually have a whole bunch of cool stuff to pick n choose from….a lot a lot a lot XD!! you probably just went about it the wrong way.
funny…this sounds Like an advert now.

what do you mean they nerfed it? you mean the super hard stuff to get? cause all the stuff i got is not hard to get, it just takes time…..why u crying dude? lol drop rate went down? sucks i guess, but i have no problem and i mean no problem getting what i want. then again im not so interested in the super rare stuff, just the good looking stuff.

they nerf everything i find it truly a grind , they nerf every farming area and to gather has become more and more of a grind , to farm is to have them nerf once again , i do not see the point of having to grind for minimal rewards , i find this now insulting to the people who do exactly what you have described and still get nothing because anet found out and took the money the loot away from it all no one wants to loot a bunch of grey after they have spent 10mins -15 doing a world boss , it comes to mind you maybe new to this game because your version of how to do it right , is an insult js
Adry, what happens if I dislike dungeons? I thought the whole point when Gw2 was released was " play the way you wish"? and yet here you are telling me " You are doing it wrong."
If I Play as I wish, and it is the wrong way to play, then Gw2 has failed in it’s manifesto.
I should Not have to group up with strangers, or Pugs or guildies, if dungeons are not my thing.
What I enjoy is finding a remote place, and manage agro, and handle adds correctly, handle A of E damaging to where I can solo groups… and…end up with a fair rewqrd for skill, and effort.
EACH time I find a good spot… Anert Nerfs it, and DR makes it less effective even before Anet nerfs it.
As I said. Dungeons are not what I really wish to do..so ..either I can play as I wish…or I can’t..if Playing as I wish is doing it wrong..then Anet fell flat on their promise to me at launch.
Unfortunately, some players were expecting another plate of steak in a timely fashion, but instead got small pieces of steak of inconsistent quality served every hour, and now it’s 3am.
What can you do to convince them to come back?

As I never asked for your help, then No worries. If you cannot " help" me.
I do not need " help" I am expressing my opinion. And stating my intentions. Not buy anything in the game Until I feel that the game is heading in the right direction, according to MY opinion. Until it does so, it is NOT the game for me, as I told you several Posts ago. I am glad you finally understood what I originally said.
As to being super-rich, No, that isn’t what I desire. But…If I Like to play Open world… and NOT in dungeons… then I should be adequately rewarded for my open world play, since gw2 said " play as you want."…I want to play Open world. If the rewards for it, are a LOT less than dungeons…then it seems that something is off-balance with Gw2’s stated manifesto.
Until I eel there is a rebalance, I will take my money elsewhere, and keep Monitoring Gw2.

I make 25 to 35 gold daily by doing what MANY consider boring, the first thing I do is from 12pm(my time) to 5:30pm I hop on the FGS champ train, then, at reset I do all the World bosses, once all this is done I throw all the rares and exotics I get on the TP, the following day before I rinse and repeat I withdraw my earnings which is ALWAYS between 25 and 35 gold, so, gold can be made if your so inclined to do this. I don’t do this EVERY day but kitten near.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
25-30 gold is me logging in. If I add my dedicated farming (which is laughingly not optimized), put that to 50 gold a day easy.

The whole Info-mercial bit…was humor. I was Mocking info-mercials, and the Upbeat tenor of the OP.
How about just play for the sake of playing instead of farming gold? I’ve made about 80 gold in about a month or so without paying too much attention. I just find the game a lot of fun. Maybe it depends on those you play with, cause I RP as well and get sucked into the game’s world.
In short, I don’t worry about the coin. It comes naturally just by having fun. :P
The problem is that Anet did a lot of wrong and many people have quit over the company’s fails and fail in gameplay design.
I last played at launch and only recently came back, only because there is no subscription really. To my surprise very little has changed and I have been away for a long time.
Balance patches and living story are NOT actual content, neither are skins in the Gem store. Store is understandable as it isn’t a subscription based game and gems can be gotten by playing as well, but the Gem store is all about gold, which kinda makes the end game of GW2 come down to gold farming in order to get the new content.
The living story season 2 sounds promising, but only time will tell how that turns out. Still feeling like the game doesn’t have any actual content updates though, most other games out there offer patches (and expansions) that bring players back..in GW2 there are just mini updates with balance changes.
We have yet to get any new lands, with new events, new bosses, new craftables, new dungeons etc.
…if the target audience is those that have quit this game, do you really anticipate for them to likely see this thread?

MANY who have quit the game still actively monitor these threads and some even make comments/replies, so, they will see this thread and more.

I think good time to “give it another shot” will be when S2 of the LS starts, now it’s sort of… nothing’s really going on.

I sort of quit it, however i still check the forums.
If players left for reasons they thought where good ones they would not be hanging around the forums to read posts like this.
^ Yeah that’s pretty much what I mean.
If you’re still on the forums, you haven’t quit this game.
^ Yeah that’s pretty much what I mean.
If you’re still on the forums, you haven’t quit this game.
Some players still watch the forums because they want a reason to come back, because they like the core game. But the updates and “features” added to the game since launch have shown them that the devs intend to go in a direction that is very clearly against what they wanted the game to be. Sometimes it’s hard to let go of something you wanted to believe in, so you check from time to time to see if anything changed. It hasn’t? Well maybe in another 2-3 months.
^ Yeah that’s pretty much what I mean.

If the game has not gone in the direction people enjoy in more than a year and a half chances are incredibly high that they will continue not to change in the direction they want. Reading and posting on the forums then is kind of counter productive for everyone involved.
With this journal game goes exactly where we we wont it to go – permanent content.

Only if an actual relationship exists.
Hey, lets give it another shot, they have come closer and closer to perfecting their craft.
i see a bright future and no i am not a fanboy, never been. Either way, i think this game will become better than most of us expect it to become.
I haven’t left, and I have never started a flounce thread, but I am finding myself playing less and less these days. Part of it is down to the fact I now have a job, but a lot of it is down to Anet taking away the things I enjoyed about this game because of a few vocal elitists calling the shots.
Magic find as an item stat? Gone because the elistists viewed it as “leeching”.
Queensdale champ train? Gone, because casuals were making more gold (supposedly) than the elitist-controlled zerker runs in the dungeons. Elitists moaned about it, and Anet capitulated.
No gear grind? Gone because the elitists demanded extra tiers to elevate them above us “casual” players (see: Ascended gear)
Casual-friendly dungeons? You’re kidding of course. The elitists will not allow anyone near them who is not equipped to the nines in full zerker gear and a minimum of 5,000AP. Same goes for fractals and open-world “raids” – something else the elitists demanded and then complained about because they couldn’t keep ordinary players out.
RP? Forget it. Thanks to the megaservers, random encounters with RPers are now virtually impossible. The new wardrobe system was also a kick in the teeth for those of us who liked to customise our characters without paying out huge wads of cash to do so.
I have no intention of leaving, but it’s high time Anet realised there’s another 95% of the player base out there who want to play the game their own way (and not as a second job), and not the way these elitists demand they play it.

Hey, lets give it another shot, they have come closer and closer to perfecting their craft.
i see a bright future and no i am not a fanboy, never been. Either way, i think this game will become better than most of us expect it to become.
There would have to be significant changes done by A-Net for me to come back. While I do not represent everyone, I do represent MANY of those that have left, a real good percentage. So the changes for us would need to be made as follows:
1. Devote less resources to PvE and concentrate more on WvW and PvP. Ditch the LS crap and impliment some actual Guild Wars (like the games name suggests)
2. Adress and fix the timezone and server imbalance in WvW.
3. Adress / fix GWEN meta in WvW
4. Adress / fix the meta in PvE.
Those are the things that would make me give it another try, but I haven’t seen them do anything about any of these issues. All the patches so far have been like little drops of water in an ocean of what is needed, or like putting a band-aid on hacked off limbs.
They need to make some real drastic changes, rework some systems from the ground up and make the PvP and WvW game less stale.
However, so far unfortunately I just havent seen anything significant on part of the devs in these areas.

Incorrect.
^ Yeah that’s pretty much what I mean.
If you’re still on the forums, you haven’t quit this game.
What rubbish, do you argue got the kitten of it, I have quit the game for months, waiting for new content, doesn’t stop me reading forums to see if there is anything new.

If the game has not gone in the direction people enjoy in more than a year and a half chances are incredibly high that they will continue not to change in the direction they want. Reading and posting on the forums then is kind of counter productive for everyone involved.

MOST people who have quit the game PROBABLY have never gotten on the forums at all(even while they were playing), if they had there would be a whole hell of a lot more activity on these boards than what there is now considering the amount of accounts CLAIMED to have been sold.

Pretty much why I’m still checking the forums regularly. Now, I play another game from NCSoft, but whenever I see that the game turns into the right direction – more permanent, explorable content, new classes, skills, weapons, weapon mixes and so on – at this point I don’t want to here anything of the “first, let them balance the existing classes properly”; it’s been 2 years now – I’ll definitely come back and give it a shot, again.
For now, the forums are where I see myself with regards to GW2.
…if the target audience is those that have quit this game, do you really anticipate for them to likely see this thread?
MANY who have quit the game still actively monitor these threads and some even make comments/replies, so, they will see this thread and more.
Guild Wars meant a LOT to a Lot of people, me included. Most of us STILL have high hopes for Guild wars 2. I may be taking a break from the game, but I am by no means done with it. I do think that the developers are headed in the wrong direction… I had hopes it would be Like Guild Wars. periodic Expansions with new classes… new maps… etc… new skills.
For me Living Story just feels Like a cheap out to NOT put work into an actual expansion. Yes, I understand it is free. But You get what you pay for.
I rather pay $59 for an ACTUAL, real expansion with a world worth of maps..Like The Cantha and Elona expansions… I Loved the New classes. it just feels Like the game is dead. It’s NOT going to have new classes, new skills, new maps…
So yes, I may be taking a break…but I Monitor the game still.
A lot of people have mentioned quitting on these forums but please define quitting!
I dont consider myself to have quit. I still log in daily but for all of ten minutes to do the daily craft and daily home node gather, I join the guild for about an hour over the weekend for the guild missions and im usually around for the first 1-2 days of the LS.
I dont feel anything for the game, I hate the direction ANET are taking it in, I think its mindless and one-dimentional and hasnt achieved anywhere near its potential and never will. But its free to log in and play so I exercise that right. I wont be giving any financial help to ANET until major changes are made to the AI, the reward structure and a huge improvement in immersion. But im still logging in.
Why bother I hear you ask? Why not just quit? Well ive been waiting 12+ months for the game to live up to its potential so I guess you could say im still hoping.
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!

About supporting Anet with our dollars.. I only have one thing to say.
I do not understand where this idea comes from. Yes, there are players that LOVE the game as is. I can understand that they support the game with gem purchases etc… they Love the game, and vote with their dollars.
But there is a group out there, that are vocal ablut their dissatisfaction, and yet will say things Like.." I spend Money, because Anet needs it."
…
Ok, so many are NOT happy with the game direction, or Anet’s decisions, but they continue to spend Money, at the gem store out of some Mistaken belief that it is THEIR responsibility to support Anet, as they flounder, hoping Anet discovers the right direction, and turns around and heads there?
Last time I checked the ONLY person responsible for seeing Anet through the self made Morass, is Anet.
And the intelligent thing to do, when an otherwise master Chef, working in a 5 star restaurant, serves you a crap sandwich is to stop spending money there, til you hear that he or she is back on the ball… and putting out dishes worthy of our money.

Precisely. People seem to be contradicting themselves.
They’re definitely getting closer. The problem is they keep getting closer and yet are so slow about rectifying problems. The epitome of ANet’s responses to the game are reflected in the end of WvW Season 2. There has been five business days since the season ended, three business days since the Battle Historian started “offering” rewards and yet we haven’t seen anything come of this. Some people are still missing their claim tickets and the Battle Historian is somewhat useless.
Really, that kind of neglect on something that is seemingly so small (even if it’s not a realistically small matter, they have experts and teams that should be working on stuff) should be unacceptable. Sadly, most criticism from customers is met with fanboyism and ANet devs deleting posts because “they aren’t constructive” or some other nonsense, as if costumers reflecting their knowledge about work ethic from another job field is hate bashing and berating.
I still spend money on the game, I still buy stuff – I want to enjoy the game. However I believe if people have left the game, there is no need for them to try and return. The amendment processes ANet’s been implementing have become extremely tedious, long and wasteful. Until ANet gets back on the right track instead of just “heading there,” I wouldn’t expect to see much change.

I find it hard to believe that the people that made Guild Wars made this game.
How does a developer that made Guild Wars on weaker computers, that had 100’s of skills at least 12 classes… Mercenaries,… Heroes,… Elite Bosses that had their OWN skills. Not Just a HUGE health pool, and 4 or 5 One shot Kill attacks… with intelligent AI…. Have anything in common with GW2 ? ( I refuse to call itn Guild Wars anything).
I really feel Like they put a Tyrian Skin on some other game.
Wizards of the Coast Can balance 1000 Cards for magic:The Gathering… and… Anet cannot balance 8 classes ?

Well, that is what they did. GW2 was always a different game, it wasn’t even marketed to be the same game.
It’s just some rather lame PR and slow amendment processes. It shouldn’t take any more than ten business days to fix a problem – if it does, they need to seriously get some internal boost. I don’t know a whole lot about game and software development, I’ve spent most of my career in music – but if after ten days there wasn’t sign of improvement in some of the productions I’ve helped, most of the production team would have their kitten chewed off.
Small(er) problems, such as the whole WvW Season 2 ending, should be fixed within 2-3 business days. It’s also just poor taste to set a promotional congratulatory message on the front page when victory’s mean kitten because their claim tickets are worthless until further notice.

Well, doh, the game is not perfected yet, it’ll be over time, like all other MMORPG category games, tho might not include F2P/P2Win MMORPGs.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
I don’t intend to return but I do visit the forums from time to time. There are better games out right now.
I could swear that some of the voices here were off for the joys of WoW or some such, hopefully not to return.
But, there are a few who have quit the game and still check the forums. tbh, I don’t think that spending $ for gems is going to make a difference in quality, after having spent twice the p2p sub cost the entire previous year esp. after the “QoL” feature patch which imo totally wrecked everything. But I do know at least 10 good friends who’ve stopped playing, several with end-game items, legendaries, etc. They were bored. We shall see what the next few months hold, and I’ll pass the word along on if the content is worth returning for. Of course, I’d love for them to return.

Tell that to all the WvW players missing their rewards from S2.
