What’s going to happen with today’s daily achievement? We don’t get laurels if we complete it before the patch? It’s reseted after the patch, so we can do today’s twice?
I don’t want to complete the daily without knowing if I’m getting one less laurel :/.
From another thread post from Colin Johanson:
•Previous daily and monthly achievements will not be reward retroactively with crowns, it will be newly completed daily/monthly achievements only. (January achievement if completed after the release will not give crowns, monthly from February on will qualify.)
•We will develop a separate reward system you’ll see later for other types of achievements, this system hasn’t been finalized, it’s entirely possible this system will not reward the crown currency at all. This system will retroactively reward achievements you’ve already earned (except dailies/monthlies) and may possibly cap out the rewards you can earn from infinitely repeatable achievements, so no one has an unfair advantage.
My personal guess is that the update will up around the same time the daily achievements reset.

absolutely, I really don’t think they want to cause unnecessary drama…

I would hope so too but anets record for content patches usually has it coming in the later hours of the night.
Like this month’s monthly not counting, it wouldn’t surprise me if today’s daily doesn’t count. They have the flexibility to make sure January’s reward do not give Laurels even after the patch has been released, so I assume they can do the same with today’s daily even if it’s applied before reset.
Instead of setting yourself up for failure and HOPING they do it right, just hold off on doing the daily until the patch is in.
If it ends up not counting anyway, oh well.
I just completed my January monthly so if the January update includes the achievement changes, does it mean I will lose out on the 10 crowns, or will I be retro actively compensated at least just for this month?
The January monthly achievement, regardless of when you complete it will not reward the new crown currency.

I know that this doesn’t answer the OP’s question – more to respond to JayMack. Though I would think that if the monthly achievement does not count for the month in which they released the patch, then the daily achievement would not count for the day in which the released the patch.

The first Lorels you can get for Monthly ist the february one. In another Thread Colin told this.

I’m confused…are you agreeing with what I said, or have you read what I’ve said wrong? Granted, I may have made my response a bit too ‘wordy’.
My post basically meant that if they can make sure January doesn’t count for Laurels even after the patch has happened, then I don’t see why they can’t make sure that today’s daily doesn’t count either.
I mean, I’m almost 99.9% sure that today’s daily won’t give you Laurels even if the patch is applied before reset. It’ll cause ANet extra work to retro-actively give people Laurels because I am 100% sure the playerbase are going to complain on this forum about it if people who did the daily late in the day got Laurels and they didn’t.

Was agreeing and adding credibility
Also mentioned it to give support to the idea that because this month won’t count, today’s probably won’t either.
disregard – see my own thread.

Bump.
So some people have 4 laurels.
I have done the daily every day for weeks, maybe months now.
Yet I have 3 laurels.
Why were the people who did the daily after the initial patch rewarded with a laurel but those of us who did it prior to the patch were not?
Isn’t it the exact same argument for why the January monthly did not reward laurels.
This makes no sense whatsoever, and is completely unfair.
I generally agree with you on principle. I’m one of those with 4 laurels but I don’t think I ‘deserve’ to have one more than others for any good reason. You aren’t even going to care long-term.
The fact is a single Laurel will be totally inconsequential in the long run. I can see how right now it’s a big deal and will still matter for a month or two. but whenever they add laurels for other achievements (they said somewhere this was the plan long-term and they would be given retroactively) not having a single Laurel from a daily just won’t matter anymore. Plus, everyone is going to miss a daily here or there because life happens.
On the bright side, now you won’t be tempted to be the guinea pig… errr… first to try out the equipment boxes. You can read about what’s in them a day before you can get one.

Mate, I’m not complaining, I apologise if it sounds like it is just another whine. I just wanted to bring it to their attention that some people have been, well, ripped off. As such, I’ve made my own thread, and will edit my post to direct to there.
