“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Transmuted Names REDO
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I would like to see the SKIN’s NAMES clearly. As was before!
For example, “Azureflame” instead of “Zojja’s Greatbow of Fail”
Guess I’m not alone with this… Please support me! w/+1
I’m sorry to say this is literally impossible the name of the original item must be kept here is an example why. In PvP there is a skin which shares the same as the precursor “The Hunter” the only ways to get this skin was through PvP before or by owning the precursor. If the name of my rifle was to change back to the name of the skin I would have a precursor which I never had.

But in PvP that rifle has another name, so in the skin you should have the PvP name.
Then if you find The Hunter you shoud get another skin IMO.
I’m with Royal with this, it hurts me to see my beloved Volcanus named Zojja’s Claymore :\
sPVP and PVE skins got merged. There is only one “The Hunter” skin now. Ask me i have the skin unlocked from sPVP but never owned the pve version.
If items kept skin names i could transmute a precursor skin to a white weapon and technicalyl gain a precursor.

How so? Even in the previous transmutation system you could (if you were extremely drunk) transmute The Hunter onto a white rifle and the mystic forge would not recognize it as a precusor; you’ll get the appearance, the name, even the little flavor text (if any), but the game was always able to tell what the base item was even when everything else about it changed.
Agreed. I want my Whisperblade, Vision of The Mists and Anomaly instead of Zojja’s Claymore and other whatever names they have.
Why? Because we’ve always named things according to how they look.
I’m with the thread -starter here, what have you done anet? All items we transmuted before the patch now show the name of the item that delivered the stats instead of the skin-name.
If it was intended, pls change it! If it’s a bug, pls repair it!
yeah, it’s harder to sort through things if your armor came from different sources, like if you have zerker gear from both cof and coe.
Guys, HUGE +1 on this one.
I don’t want a ‘Pearl-Spear of Mother of God blah’ … I want my Al’ir’aska back

Ahh, then the new change makes no sense.

Not to mention this change makes no sense for the items that had no base stats in the first place. All the named backpiece skins, the random armor pieces (Fused/Dragon Helmets/etc.), any SAB weapon. There’s also T3 cultural armor, which you’re pretty much encouraged to transmute, because the stats aren’t even exotic (I think this is affected, but I could only play for about 15 min after the patch hit).
If they were able to display it this way, they clearly already had the data so we could unlock the skins. Why not just take the new name of the item, and have the text in the description be “Original (or Base): ________”
I use equipment names to swap equipment quickly. Can’t really do that as easily now.

I do +1. Little annoying change, and one of my only gripes about the patch.
My Ranger’s Kamohoali’i is now a “Vital Iron Spear”
“Dear ANet, nerf Paper, Scissors is fine. Sincerely, Rock”
Elysaurus | Warrior | [LOL] | League of the Legendary | Gandara (EU)
Yeah, for me it got worse. I have 3 different transmuted backpieces (Wings of the Sunles, Holografic “whatever” Wing and another one) and are all with the same name now (a cheap lvl 70 backpiece that I can’t recall which name). Also, after transmutation they became rare, now one is masterwork.
Its something I am sure they will fix but I actually hope they don’t. If it even makes it so there is one less kitten pinging their gear in map chat I am all for it. People can see your weapon, only you can read what it is called unless you go around showing off in map chat.

It will result it less bragging in map chat for sure. ><
Yea, it doesn’t make sense. A mithril sword called molten blade? Wat? Sometimes one can only wonder, wth is going on inside AN when things like are getting through.

I know someone has already cleard this up but if what you were saying was true then changing the skin would change the stats too.
The name is purely for display purposes. The underlying weapon/armour’s identity (a unique ID number) is maintained in the databases, so regardless of what’s displayed (and the skin being shown) the game knows it’s really a “Berserkers Pearl Rifle” (with an ID of X) with the skin from “The Hunter” (with an ID of Y) and not actually “The Hunter” itself.
i want my fellblade, ithas bow, ice breaker, etc back. : (
please give me back my fellblade! : (

So I made myself a Firebringer and I’m on my way to make Azureflame but I can’t even reskin them now.
This new wardrobe system is a mess.
All they have to do is change where the name displays.
Example of a Weapon Layout:
Zojja’s Trident
Weapon Strength 950-1050
+188 Power
+134 Precision
+134 Ferocity
Sigil Slot 1
Sigil Slot 2
Infusion Slot 1
Infusion Slot 2
Transmuted Zenith Trident
Ascended
Trident
(Two-Handed)
Required Level: 80
Account Bound
Just swap the bolded parts.
I don’t like it either, but compared to some of the other stuff, this is minor.
It is a minor but it’s an eyesore. That’s why it’s so bad.
Only the name and look of SKIN matters, right?
This is what the Wardrobe and Dyes are about…
So if we have a nice skin like Fellblade or Dhuumseal or whatevs, it needs to have their own name. Yes it’s a sharp eyesore…
Even worse than they removed the charismatics…
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I’d love to have my Jormag’s Breath labelled as such again. Not Berserker’s Pearl Sabre of the Berserker Pearl Sabre, or whatever it is now. Unless we’re actually saying stats are now more important than the skins (forgive me for thinking that it was sort of the other way around when it came to shinies in the game). It’s not actually game breaking, just a small disappointment.
Boy, some of the things you guys get upset about….
I’ve never looked at someone and wondered “what’s the name of their weapon???” It’s usually “hey cool skin, where/how did you get it”. You can still call your weapons whatever you want….in your heart.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Eww… if it’s just a name switch, it does matter because it’s simple… change how the game interprets the code and that’s it.
Yeah, I’m in the same boat. My beloved Moonshine, is now called Etched Skidgel of Whatever. I have the look of Moonshine, but not the name. So when someone asks me what kind of mace I have, I link to it and it doesn’t reflect what it really is…
Fully agreed, the items need to have the name of the skin we use as before. People can just mouse over the link to see the stats. When someone asks you “hey what’s that weapon?” they are talking about the skin not the base item..
Oh guys, just to point it out in case you don’t know… you can Ctrl+Link WARDROBE skins directly on the chat, simple mouse clicking automatically previews the item… maybe that’s the replacement? It’s not bad actually.
There are a few posts on this (one I created) and it is very annoying. They use to do it this way with the old transmutation method. It is especially bad for items like the Mad Kings Memoirs as you also lose all the flavor text that goes along with it.
It’s funny cause the names that you see (aside from the bugged ones and they’re obvious) are the actual skin names. There’s like 30 different names for Iron Sword, exact same skin but each karma vendor has it’s own name for it. Same with armors. Get used to it, if your preferred skin name isn’t in the wardrobe name list, you’re going to get what the wardrobe says it’s called.

Maybe I’m interpreting your post wrongly. We’re bothered by the items we transmuted to get the name and look of an item, with the stats of another. With the patch, it takes the base stats item name, and the look of the other.
For instance, Wings of Dwayna. The default stats are:
+179 Healing Power
+128 Power
+128 Toughness
Superior Sigil of Life
Not [many] people are going to use that stat setup, so some may transmute to a berserker weapon for instance. Before the patch (this is my case-not generalizing), it was called Wings of Dwayna with the stats of a Molten Longbow. Now, it’s called Molten Longbow, with the look of Wings of Dwayna. It’s pretty much the same thing, in a technical sense. But the name is something we want to be able to choose. We basically want to flip the name of the item, and the one after the Transmuted line.

Bingo! (I had the same experience with Mad King’s Memoirs)
all my staffs are named bramblethorne now including Death Wish, and Final Rest. In fact every staff I make from now on will be called bramblethorne because I only have use for rabid stats on staffs. I was working towards the crossing but i’m not going to bother if its just going to be another bramblethorne.
I wonder if they even gonna look at this problem..
Let me put this into perspective, lets say you own a blue car, and you decide to paint it red. yes its a blue car underneath, but you can’t call it a blue car, because it abviously appears red.
+1
something with 15 characters which is realy annoying me, but less then the names on my weapons.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
Just saw a person with the Wings of Dwayne that is named Tempered Spinal Blades. He was rather P.O.ed
I think it should give the skin name also. If someone asks me about a weapon I have, “meaning what’s the name of that skin?” and I ping it and it has the stats name, that’s not what they want to know.
With 8 level 80s, each with their own assortment of skins, most acquired a year or so back, I might not remember the exact name of a skin to tell them.
Edit: we might be able to ping the skin off the wardrobe though. I would have to check.

This issue bothers me so much. Plz fix this problem as it was before the patch
10 minutes of work, 10000 happy transmuters.
But here’s my Wammo, so heal me maybe?
Is the current naming convention on transmuted items intended functionality or a bug? It just doesn’t seem to make sense to me the way it is now, post patch.
So I bought a Sclerite GS skin and applied it to a Berserker’s Pearl Broadsword, though I never used a Pearl broadsword because it’s ugly, I likely just brought the cheapest GS with the stats I wanted. It looks like a Sclerite GS, feels like a Sclerite GS, and I certainly payed enough for it, should the name not be something like “Berserker’s Sclerite Broadsword of Bloodlust” rather than “Berserker’s Pearl Broadsword of Bloodlust”? The “pearl” has nothing to do with the sword anymore since it’s only a skin itself.
Likewise, I have a transmuted staff that should be “Emberspire”, not “Knight’s Pearl Quaterstaff of Torment”. Again, “pearl” is only the original skin.
All my other transmuted items also suffer the same issue, armor name shows as draconic rather than primeval, Severed Dagger now shows as “Carrion Tribal Dagger of Malice”.
These names have nothing to do with the current items. “Pearl”, “Draconic”, “Tribal”, etc, these are just skin names and make no sense.

Having the same problem and it’s really annoyin … Thumbs up for name determined by skin.
Violette Glory [Warrior]
Bala Rama [Herald]
On the same boat, no response from devs unfortunately.
This is important in a game where we work for horizontal and cosmetic progression – it will certainly put me off transmuting any weapons until this is fixed.
I was particularly looking forward to using the Fused Greatsword skin soulbound to my guardian on my warrior – but it won’t be the same if it loses the name, it would just seem fake in some way.
I’m really enjoying the majority of the other features in the patch, but +1 for hoping the devs sort this out soon.
The Path Least Travelled, Gunnar’s Hold
I think it is working as intended, it feels fake because it IS fake.
I transmuted my frostfang skin into my zojja’s axe, I don’t expect my zojja’s axe to appear as “frostfang” when I ping it.
If you added the Sclerite skin into a Pearl weapon, it is still a Pearl weapon.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Posted about this yesterday but happy to post in another thread to get some attention from the devs!
I dont understand how if ten people transmute a a Zoija’s ascended armour set into ten completely different skinned sets they are all still called Zoija’s. How is this a positive addition to the game? A lot has been made of making things easier for new players to understand…. how is this easier?
Because of this change ive actually lost two keepsakes of mine- the Mad King Slippers and a rifle skin ive had since Day 2 called the Potent Avenger. Both are now named after the thing I transmuted them to. Whats even worse is that because they share the same skin as a common item (Human T2 rifle I think and the generic heavy boots) the name has even been removed from the Skin Name listed on the item. All I now see is ‘Seraph Rifle’ as the skin, which isnt true.
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!
If you added the Sclerite skin into a Pearl weapon, it is still a Pearl weapon.
No…it’s a Berserker weapon…pearl is the skin, which has been replaced.

Doesn’t matter, its’ a Screlite weapon now which means it’s not Pearl anymore.
Anyway, the new transmutation system is hilatious. Imagine if I take an Ascalonian sword and reskin it with a fine Orrian skin? How will that make sense?
