Uncap AoE max targets! Result => less zergs
Hmm.. I have to agree, this would in fact take care of zergs. I don’t know if its the best idea, but I can’t agrue that 20 people standing in close proximity getting hit with a few arrow carts and cannonballs would quickly turn into a pile of corpses.
I mean, taking a fortress/keep/whatever should be a long task not a 5min no-plan things you do by the way when running around doing whatever else.
At least I’d want it to be this way.
This is an interesting concept, can’t really pinpoint any downsides to this.

I don’t know if you’re new around here, but this has been said many times by the devs. Uncapping aoe limit even just to 10 would result in a significant performance issues.
Now, they did some optimization with the server but as it stands right now, that is why it cannot be done.

Would do crap, as the problem is that bunching up magnify the benefit of support, because most support (in particular from guardian and warrior) is character centered AOE.
And at the launch of the game that kind of support was unintentionally uncapped, and the zerging was even worse then once discovered. This because then just a single shouter could cover the whole zerg, rather than requiring multiple to make sure you get everyone.
I still think that “can’t be done because of the performance” is just a cheap excuse.
Zerg-wide water fields!
Zerg-wide aegis!
Zerg-wide weakness!
Zerg-wide retaliation!
It doesn’t need to be uncapped. It just needs to be changed to a percentage. For example, the zerg would be limited to hitting 4 out of your 5 ppl with an 80% percentage, whereas you could hit 8 out of their 10.
Support skills should remain capped too, but they really need all 900-1200 range. At the moment there is no alternative to stacking (600 range lol?).

So bring back the old super strong AC because they would roll over zergs but most ppl who do wvw hated it.

/thread. Any place with 10+ people using AOE would give you 5 fps and mass crashes in WvW
Basically Anet likes to swim in their money instead of putting it towards actual hardware and investing in the game, so their servers can’t handle an AOE cap bigger than 5.

We get major skill lag with only a 5 cap AoE limit, ( upwards of 5 minute on any skill other than auto attack in WvW, granted that is kinda rare but still..) take a moment to think about how atrocious it would become with a lifted cap using the same hardware.
I wanna see this so badly, maybe this would even get me playing again. I’d just love if AoEs (not conditions) get buffed and have max tagets uncapped. It would be especially fun in WvW. It’s your own fault if you stand in AoE so either dodge or you and your whole zerg group gets melted by my AoE.
This could also be cool when trying to stop zerg at choke points. For example put static field down and lay some AoEs on top of it = zerg gone.
This would force people go spread around a bit maybe break in smaller groups or something.
Ideas?
Do you accept should be friendly fire too ,that your arrows should land on you if shoot up,your axe swoed whatever if swing twirl should hit the person next to you if close etc ? if not well self explantory what really want .
But dont have those things or AOE over 5 just accept it as magic fantasy .
