Utility skills in Elite skill slot
I’d like to see this!
It would increase build diversity. (I know people will say "What’s the point, there is always only one meta build… blahblahblah).
I can think of a lot of times where I’ve wanted to scrap my elite in favour of an extra utility. This is mainly when exploring where fights aren’t long enough/difficult enough to bother using my elite because of long cool-downs and where I “lose” one skill slot from a passive speed boost (where applicable). Having extra utility would be helpful because of lower c-d on utility skills so I feel like I’m using my whole skill range whilst I’m exploring.
I totally support this. I think it is a great idea, and something I have wished for since launch.
ANet does not want us to have this much customization, as much as I’d like to see it.

I remember this game, it came out in 2005, where you had 8 skill slots, but you can put any skill in them. There were elite skills, but you weren’t forced to using them. And skill slots weren’t level gaited. I loved that game.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Oh, I also remember that game. It was so extremely unbalanced at times that it was basically possible to not even pay attention and still complete most stuff.
I also seem to recall said game having attributes and such which were very important in order to make skills useful, those attributes were tied to level.

I’d like elites to actually be worth it. Give us some weaker ones with shorter cooldowns…

would a utility skill in the elite slot count as an elite for runes that have an effect on elite skill use?
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
I support the idea and hope to see it happen soon…even if the hope is pretty faint

I remember when this was suggested… in beta…
There are a lot of very situational and thus useless elites. An extra utility would be much better but the game simply isn’t balanced for that.
GW1 system where builds was created around elites was better.

This. There doesn’t seem to be much synergy between weapon skills, utility skills and Elite skills at times. Would like to see more synergy between skills and more flexibility with skills and where they can be slotted, in a fair and balanced manner.

I’m not a massive PvP player…. would you mind explaining how this would ruin PvP?
Would it not just change things… and then everything would settle down again once people got used to it?
I’m sure there are workaround for it, like balancing certain utility skills or utility skill types/traits.
Even if this was a huge problem for PvP… they could just not include such a change in PvP. As far as I see it the change would be most beneficial for PvE exploring for short encounters.

Why? It is because (as it was suggested last time that suggestion was brought up) it would be too overpowered? If so, then doesn’t that tell us how useless elite skills are currently?

Been talk about this since not long after launch. Would really be handy sadly will probably never happen.
Interesting concept, but I’m already thinking of ways to abuse it. The utility skills were design to be capped at 3 at a time.
