-payment method (either subscription-based; time-based, or single-time purchase?)
-gameplay (how would this affect the gameplay?)

We just wanted to respond to the image that has been data-mined from the Edge of the Mists testing branch.
This is a testing branch. We conduct internal experiments for various territories on our testing branches. This particular experiment is not being tested for the West.
As always, keep in mind that we test a lot more than we ship, so data-mining is no guarantee of anything. If we have announcements to make about future content, we’ll make them through the usual official channels.

If it is indeed a real thing, I have a bit of mixed reactions, but it would all depend on how it would work.
One-time payment? Somewhat okay with it, but borderline.
Sub? Not acceptable, and might turn me off from the game.
Time and/or gems purchase based? Probably the best solution if this is indeed a thing.
Is it weird I took a look at this and went “doesn’t look too bad”. Half of it doesn’t look like it’d be that bad of an impact on play.
The bank and trading thing is already around as Permanent contracts. An extra bag slot, bank tab, and character slot? Not much impact short of giving more storage to people – not unbalancing.
Gem Store discounts, Teleport to Friend, Additional Skill Points . . . potentially an issue but how much of an issue is it if a Champion Farm can get Scrolls for a skill point somewhat reliably? I know I’ve seen dozens of them so far.
The Gift Bag, I’m wondering if it’s just booster items or other silly minor things from Black Lion like the stylist kit or the like. Depending on what’s in it, shouldn’t be a problem.
Resurrection buffs . . .
. . . I dunno. There we might be entering sketchy territory.

You are clearly not even considering WvW. Teleport to a friend? Resurection buff? (that’s also spelled really wrong in there) Extra skill points to learn faster the upcoming new skills if you have lots of alts? Come on. Of course it’s P2W.

Of course not.
But there have been stuff in the dat-file for over a year that has not yet been added to the game. Not everything in testing (and this is from a testing-build if it is even real) does make it to the live game, even if the data for it remains.
They are also fully aware that people are checking the dat-file, so they can (and have I think) put in false things just for that as well.
Sadly I don’t have the testing-client, so I can’t check myself if it is actually there.

If it was a Chinese specific feature I doubt it would be localized or written in English, and the reddit user who posted that has been pretty dead on with every item that has been data mined over the last year. Basically every item he has posted on reddit ended up in the actual game.

There are things in the data mining which never saw the light of day.

The issue is that besides the typo’s and terribly pixely charr, that is a reputable data miner who is either sacrificing his reputation to troll or that really was buried in the client data.
The charr looks photoshopped and the image misspelled “resurrection” with an extra “s.”

Why?
It is quite possible that the Chinese version of the game will come with English texts as well, for people that prefer original text and such.
And no, he have posted quite a bit of stuff that have not appeared in the game. And he also claimed that he would stop over a month ago and basically didn’t even play the game, so it is also fully possible that this is a joke on his part.

The game’s already a slowly sinking ship, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see NCSOFT milking all the money that’s left in GW2 in order to push wildstar.
I know you’re quick to defend ArenaNet on, well…pretty much everything…but why should we assume this is a joke and not something soon to be implemented? Hasn’t pretty much everything that’s ever been datamined been implemented shortly after?

I assume it is a joke because of the extremely bad quality of it.
Bad pictures, several really bad typos and so on.
It also feels quite a bit as ANet-type of jokes.

I can’t even ask "What happened to the GW1 ANet?" because I know that they all jumped ship.
It’s honestly saddest because if GW2 were actually better handled over its lifetime, people would probably try to laugh this off or honestly react in a calm, but concerned manner. Instead, everyone is just going to curse ANet into the ground, kick dirt on its face and trod off laughing "Good riddance," because it’s believable. GW2 has fallen so low that we honestly believe that this leak could be a legitimate reality.

“Assume it’s a joke.” Really? I wouldn’t think even you, staunchest of ArenaNet’s defenders, would try to play something like this (a highly controversial item datamined by a reputable member of the community) as a joke.

the “bad” news could be either true or false, but the fact itself that all of us doubt about it and start flaming before any official confirm, shows that anet is no more trustworth in the customers’ eyes.
I’ve got a question to those of you who praised the Living Story while telling those of us who wanted an expansion that we didn’t need one: do you honestly think ArenaNet would add such an item as this if the Living Story was generating the kind of income you’ve been telling yourself it’s been generating?
I don’t know about you, but all of a sudden an expansion looks like it would have been the smart way to go…for both parties (developers and players).
