I have a hard time believing they nerfed this area due to bots, you would think if they thought or knew they had bots in the area they would have some sort of program to monitor what each account does in there game.

I know very little about bots but from what i looked up they run a pretty static program and would almost do the same thing every time. If that is true look for those kind of things and ban those accounts where you see that happening.

But someone posted earlier saying something that kinda made sense as well, Anet and whoever else runs the show are here to generate money and by reducing the farming they think they are increasing gem sales.

Often those who use bots also are the same people who steal accounts. All you’d be doing by banning the bots is to make them cycle through the stolen accounts faster. It’s not really a solution.

Gotcha, didn’t even think about that…

In Guild Wars 1 I had my account stolen by gold sellers and they used it to bot. It’s the only reason I know about it.

I’ve been to malchor’s leap today to get the farmers away from there. What kind of impression do you think you give a new player when he goes to finish a temple event to buy his first ever pair of exotics and gets chased away by people swearing at him, because they want the event not completed and the temple not open so that they could continue getting sweet lootz?
If you want to farm go and do it in places where it doesn’t affect other players or ruin our world. Like the easy to run dungeon paths or go and kill mobs somewhere in the open world. Do not stop events from progressing and do not try to stop people completing them.

Now there’s close to 20 events in the world that give you a guaranteed rare (see ecto and yellow prices – those are falling because of easy to get rares and rewarding world events) the same events have a high chance to drop a unique exotic or a precursor.

Definition: “High Chance” – (org: Guild Wars 2.) Having a shot in the dark chance of getting something (you won’t.) while fighting a constant stream of nerfs to anything that could possibly be fun or worth your time.

Synonyms:

  • Where’s my kittening loot?
  • This wasn’t worth the teleport.
  • kittenty greens again?!
  • Oh look, the same person who got a Precursor a week ago got another one.
  • When the kitten is Wildstar coming out?
Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”

I have to agree with the OP and this good summary on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1f0xqp/very_disappointed_player_with_some_good_points/ca5qxxg but I will stay at least for the Living Story and WvW. In my opinion the achievement changes (treasure) are nice but a bit to late, people are tired of getting junk. Now they realize they get rewarded for nothing. So Anet did learn nothing from the End of the Personal Story Reward disaster. GW2 is maybe the most unrewarding mmo ever but it has the best community interaction ever.

They should just make it so the events, like the temple I question here, just fail if not completed in a set period of time and then have period of time before they can be activated. Purposely not completing an event so there is constant mob spawns is obviously not what is intended, have the event fail and then a cool down would fix this.

I 100% agree with the OP, GW2 will not last the test of time like GW did, I played GW for 7 years and there was always something to do, hell you could even farm the Vaettirs and get gold drops right up to the day of GW2 launch, you could farm with 100s in MF and get squat,

On the first page of this topic someone said that anet are not against farming as in SS cove they give you a 200% MF boost, you are wrong, they just want you to farm SS cove because that’s where the content is atm, as soon as they are done with this story that area will get nerfed to all hell again, I had 362% MF down there for an hour and I didn’t get squat from enemies,

They are killing out there farming areas etc,

If you want to farm, go create a Warrior, gear it out for zerker, and go run CoF path 1 60 times a day, its the only massive farming area in the game that hasn’t taken a hit at all in months of it being done, but be prepared because when it getkitten with the nerf bat, NO ONE will go in there again, as it will either be insanely hard or no loot will be dropped……..

I personally wish that Anet would just delete entire events from the game rather than nerf them, Plinx is not farmed anymore, the beach in cursed shore it no longer farmed etc, just delete these events and put some better content in that we can actually farm so we can “grind” for the legendary pre cursors that are pretty much non existent.

But long story short, they don’t care, aslong as someone else is putting $$$’s into the game, they are worth more than the rest of us who want to farm, that the cold hard truth.

The funny bit is, when I played Guild Wars 1, the loot was, for the most part, equally unrewarding. I mean you’d do a dungeon and you’d get these yellow drops (which we called gold drops) and they’d be worthless. You could get some coin by selling them as unidentified golds for people who were working on their wisdom title, but basically, they were worthless.

It would get to the point after a while where nothing that dropped really meant anything unless it was a black or white dye….or an ecto if you were in the underworld. Or a lock pick.

Guild Wars 1 wasn’t really a loot based game, and neither is Guild Wars 2.

I very much disagree that GW2 isn’t a loot based game. I don’t know if you noticed but a lot of desirable items require you to get hundreds of very rare items. I have only played GW1 to get the first 6 HoM points, and quite frankly i don’t even care about GW1, so i can’t really share your sentiments.

You don’t acquire best looking items by completing a list of achievements and challenges in a dungeon, or completing a jumping puzzle in a certain amount of time, or reaching a benchmark on your PVP/WvW kills. You get the most desirable items by repeating the same content over and over and over again, until you either get the loot you need or exchange the gold you earned by doing that content, for the items you didn’t loot yourself. This is still called farming, no matter how you look at it. Some people “are having fun” some are not, but this doesn’t mean that this is not farming.

And GW2 needs A LOT of farming, be it for items or gold. In both cases this is loot. Yes it is OPTIONAL. But really whenever someone says “it’s optional” to me it seems like a poor defense to the state of this game.

However, i have always said that this is a necessary evil, since poor rewards make people buy gems and exchange it for gold. The question is, how much are people willing to put up with this. Even if it’s not pay to win, people sense that GW2 is kinda a cash cow, and some people just don’t like that feeling. Way too much importance has been placed on gold.

Stop nerfing farming since it’s a player choice, farmers will just find the next best thing.

I suspect the problem isn’t farming, it’s gold-to-gem conversion. If there were no conversion, and the only thing impacted by endless farming was the in-game economy, I doubt we’d see so many nerfs to popular/efficient farming spots. But because of the conversion, ArenaNet’s revenue are also impacted by a player’s ability to quickly accrue gold. And so they’ve got a financial incentive to inhibit our ability to accumulate currency.

I’m not a hardcore farmer; I spend probably 30 minutes or so a week farming Orr for T6 materials should the day ever come I decide to go for a Legendary weapon. But I can certainly see where those of you who do it hours a day, day after day, would be perturbed at the constant nerfs to farming spots. But do keep in mind it’s probably a bit of a necessary evil because they implemented the player-friendly currency exchange. To what degree it’s necessary is certainly up for debate, but I suspect the reasonably-minded among us do recognize it is necessary.

I agree with Vol. I used to love logging into my necro, and killing everything in sight during the pent/shelt/plinx events…and seeing tons of things drop. For the time invested, I felt like I got something out of it. Yes, you made it more challenging and in that right, it is fun. But if Im going to kill all veterans and champions now, because thats all these events really are, I better not be only getting some blues and the ocassional booty bag (that sounds funny). More rares, up the precursor chance, more T6 drops.

Make it worth our while. I havent had a need to go to Orr all month really, since Southsun’s been active either.

It’s not GW1 admitted but I’m going to hold them to their “manifesto” as they pushed it out;

Here’s some key statements to illustrate what I’m talking about.

“Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1 and puts it into a persistent world that’s got more active combat, a fully-branching, personalized storyline, a new event system to get people playing together, and still no monthly fees.” Obviously you are not taking everything we loved about GW1 as evidenced above.

“In most games, you go out, and you have really fun tasks, occasionally, that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. ‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun. We want to change the way that people view combat.” Really?

Because the world bosses are static. They land in the exact same spots, following the exact same script. They don’t even possess an aggro mechanic to make the fight interesting. You can basically stand their in one spot autoattacking. Not that it mattes the rewards are trivialized. You have made the requirements to get any varied looking armor or unique weapons dependent upon hundreds of rare materials.

In one stroke you have forced farming upon us to achieve any form of aesthetic difference from the guy next to us; and then stripped away the ability to acquire the items because…. you don’t want us farming.

You have less than .001 to get a precursor throught the forge or world drop but we do not want you farming the rares to throw into the forge because heaven forbid you actually get one and then realize you are left with nothing else to seek after.

“As a structure, the MMO has lost the ability to make the player feel like a hero. Everybody around you is doing the same thing you are doing. The boss you just killed respawns ten minutes later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.” Guess what, you didn’t change this at all. The same boss will land 1.5 hours later and there is zero impact on the world. At least in other games I could declare my victory by hanging the beasts head over the city gates; here.. I become Trahearne’s lapdog as he gets to complete HIS wild hunt.

One of the most obvious problems with the nerfs to the Pent/Shelt area…

The enormously buffed up Champs and Vets who keep spawning and have massive hit points, drop no more loot than the regular, easy to bring down enemies. Not to mention the vet spider hatchlings that drop NO loot. So why waste your time (often most of the event duration) to bring down a champ to earn a blue, when a “regular” risen bad guy will give you the same or more?

I mention this obvious point to make another point. Why would Anet introduce such an obvious problem with gameplay balance unless their intent was anything other than simply driving players out of the area?

I think it is Anet’s constant attempts to manipulate the WAY we play the game that are kitten ing me off

That’s utter rubbish. You got a legendary without farming? Either you bought mats/precursor when they are cheap, otherwise the entire cost of making a legendary goes up over 1000 G for some of them.

That means you either run over 10+ chested events, farm thousands of cof runs, or stay in southsun cove for 3-4 hours a day (since it’s a limited event). Try telling any wvw players to play one single hour a day that they can get their legendary without farming. And don’t quote that 1/10000 wvw player who managed to get a precursor. That’s like saying anyone WvW player will get his precursor after 10000 days.

Ah the eternal optimist Vayne. So, tell us how you got that legendary without farming?

edit: Tell us how you got that legendary without farming in the last..5 months(after the surge of precursors early on and after handing out precursors during the karka event)

First of all, even if I didn’t get the precusor, I love the legendary trident, and last I checked the precusor for that was on the TP for 22 gold. So yes, I could still have a legendary even if the karka event didn’t drop one for me. I bought the precusor for kraitkin from the TP.

Where did I get the gold to do it? By playing the game. I do dynamic events, I run dungeons with my guild, I do some fractals, some WvW. And you know, at the end of the day, I put gold in my chest. I don’t need 7 gold an hour. I’m happy with 3-4 gold a day if that. I don’t farm it, because I don’t WANT to farm it. I’d stop playing if I had to do stuff I didn’t enjoy.

So that’s how you get a legendary without farming. You play the game and save your earnings.

Sure I’ll go to a dragon event if someone in the guild shouts it out. Why not? But only if I’m free at the moment to do so. The other day I was playing keg brawl and someone said the fire ele is up. If I were farming I’d have had to stop playing but I was enjoying myself so I didn’t.

I don’t farm.

So, you’re trying to make a point that you got one of the easiest legendaries in the game? Then your point becomes that much weaker.

If you tried telling us that you acquired The Dreamer, Twilight, Incinerator, or Bolt…one of the legendaries where the buyout on the TP is 500-600+, then thats a different story and Id call BS on you not farming it(or being one of the few lucky ones).

So sure I can go and buy three or four aquatic precursors if I truely wanted. But not many people place high value on them. So when you come here and justify your point of “I dont grind” with the fact that you acquired the easiest legendary in the game, I consider your words very light and without weight. Yes, the gifts might have taken sometime but like you said you can play the game at your pace for those.

Lots of people farm certain events for T6 drops.

Then people farm the chest events for rares for ectos AND precursors.

Its the farm and the grind for the precursor and the ecto requirement that people are finding most tedious.
You bought yours for a mere 22 gold. Big whoop.

If I went to the TP now, bought my aquatic precursor for under 50g..I would have my legendary in a month or so.

Oh, I got lucky on the precusor drop, but as I said earlier it would have taken me another 3 months to save enough gold to buy the precusor, and I’d have gotten it then. When I get it is not important to me. That’s the point.

The whole point is having something to work toward. Once you have it, you need something else to work toward. Since people are saying there’s not enough end game content to begin with, what’s the rush to get one?

You’re missing the point. He’s not saying “I got a Legendary, so can you.” He’s saying “I enjoyed the game without grinding for a Legendary, so can you.” If the only thing standing between you and the ability to enjoy this game is owning a Legendary, then ownership of a Legendary isn’t going to change much for you.

Yep that’s exactly my point. Once I got the legendary I stopped caring about it. While I was saving up for it, it gave me something to do…now…shrugs. I’m just having fun playing.

Oh so i guess ur point of view depends on ur goal right?
well i got my twillight, but i still want to farm and get golds as much as i can?
is that a problem for you? i find it enjoyable for me :P

  • When the kitten is Wildstar coming out?

so guaranteed 20 silver and a chance on an exotic/ precursor just isn’t worth the teleport cost, just because? Having in mind that Wildstar is being published by the same company and we really don’t know their policies about farming I doubt that farmers are actually asking that.

My sarcasm meter is acting up when Vayne states he got lucky with his hunter precursor. I personally know my guild member who has over 7000 achievement points, but he has no precursor to speak of. His in-game hours is tremendous, doesn’t do cof farming because he’s an ele, and camps the chests every single day with a few dungeons + fotm.

He hasn’t got a precursor yet.

so you don’t want to work for your rewards (because 20 silver is not worth it for you) and you just want to stand on one spot AoEing everything to death? Do you really think that a game should reward you more for doing far less?

because easy is boring. Why would I want to play the game if it would bore me? Also you do realize that the economy would adapt, prices would fall and you would get the same amount of money for doing less than you are doing right now if these kind of spots were never there? I remember T6 blood being 50 silver. Now it’s barely at 20 and was steadily falling. Which means that you need to get 2X the amount of T6 blood to make the same profit. That makes things with fixed prices seem expensive and really screws the economy around.

The game is healthier with a flatter reward structure. When the most profitable activity is to sit at one event all day and kill trash (and not complete the event!), you have a structural problem.

I would be massively, massively disappointed if they did not remove those hot spots.

Now, on the flip side, I can only shake my head and sigh that they haven’t addressed how bad the loot is outside those particular events. Jumping out in my mind are the various champion mobs around the world that are actively avoided because they’re gigantic wastes of time; similarly there are a bunch of events that simply aren’t done because the reward in this game comes from killing big hordes of trash mobs from particular events, not from completing objectives.

The Insti chests in Southsun are a step in the right direction; every champion in the entire game should do something similar.

Wonder why people still want to farm there if it’s boring….
well you see, you farm lyssa for the rares, and globs right?
sell those at tp and you make golds, then how do you buy t6 mats if theres none at tp?
you shud be thankful since we’re fullfilling everyone’s demand of t6 mats.
Oh price is falling? there’s this term called depriciation in real life and it also works in in-game economy. deal with it.

That’s not my vision of a good mmo… This game lacks of trinity, raids, tiered dungeons, complex mechanics, loot tables, rewards, challenges. Quality Open World Dynamic Events, Crafting, poor economy High End at all… When you reach lvl 80 there’s nothing interesting to do. This game is boring me so much. Still the WvW that is a ZvZ only game… These are the reasons I’m Leaving. The June 12 I’ll return to Rift…

Good luck !!

And when he stated he bought the precursor trident, I wonder how many people rolled their eyes.

Because the only point to having a Legendary weapon is standing around in Lion’s Arch showing off? People got over that months ago.

So, say they make it even easier to get Legendaries… in a month there are at least six people standing around LA at any given time showing off their Twilights. Legendary weapons are so common that they’re not special at all, and are pretty much required by elitists to join their guilds or whatever. Without a goal to focus on, people become bored and without admiring fans to watch them do the Twilight Dance they become discouraged and leave.

The devs made certain decisions about how to run the game, and continue to make decisions based on what happens because of their earlier decisions. Not every decision was a good one, and some things can’t easily be undone. But they are doing their best to maintain their original vision and deal with challenging situations. Throwing more loot into the game faster than they have been will not solve any problems, only make new problems and make existing problems worse.

I don’t farm it, I run it from time to time for fun. And I sell rares, not globs. I won’t waste my black lion salvage kits on a rare (only 1/2 chance to get a glob), when when I will need globs I can run a few dungeons, get exotic gear and salvage it for 1 to 9 globs instead. I have T6 that have fallen for me from dungeons, fractals and high level zones. I don’t need T6 myself. If I could actually sell it for more it would bring me closer to Tier 3 outfits. If such farm spots remained open T6 would be better off vendored eventually, meaning that suddenly even waypoint costs start looking expensive. IF, however, there were no bots and farmers every player would have a chance to have a higher amount of gold by selling the materials that hey collected, therefore they would be able to afford things of fixed prices (Tiered outfits, waypoint and repair costs) and still be able to afford the more expensive mats off TP (because they would be making more money selling mats themselves).

This isn’t GW1 so people should stop expecting it to be.

You are right, this isn’t GW1, however, GW2 should be better than GW1.

Better is subjective. I think GW2 is better than its predecessor in almost every subjective measure. And I know it’s better in many objective measures, too.

I have yet to see people swearing at others trying to complete that event. Not saying it doesn’t or can’t happen but generalize farmers as ravenous, rude and foaming at the mouth is just ridiculous and flat out false….few of us are actually like that. Farmers are always willing to stop what they are doing, even is that means missing out of some loot to rez a downed player.

No on is stopping anything from happening.

I had to listen today how in real life I must be working in Mcdonnalds, how I’m a worthless human being and how dare I interrupt their farm? I also had them say to me that they’ll going to stand there and watch me die to Lyssa now, that they will not help and therefore will prevent my event from being completed. They also tried to pull mobs on me.
Yes, they do do that. Events should not be farmed.

And anyone at the lyssa temple isn’t a new player buy that point..

Malchor’s leap is 75 to 80. I’ve been helping a guy to get trough dungeons. He was completely new. Got to level 80 in 5 days. And yes, he got his exotics off temples.

You hear that guys, events aren’t meant to be farmed..even tho they begin every 20 minutes or so. Events aren’t meant to be farmed even tho World Bosses are like clockwork, so much so that a third party website can tell you when. Events aren’t meant to be farmed even though everything not TP related costs karma…and lots of it. Events aren’t meant to be farmed yet they encourage farming more than any other aspect of the game.

Absolutely agree Vol! I left because of this, last week. It’s time they wake up and fulfill their promise to not harm the legit farmers. DR was never used by previous gaming companies for very good reasons, they drive away customers and kill off rewards for time spent, that’s not a game, a game is where you play for rewards, when there are no more rewards what have you got left?

The bots haven’t farmed enemies since they added DR, they’ve been teleport gathering since then. poof long enough to get the node and port again. So their DR has backfired. (and yes they also nerfed the loot I don’t care what anyone says they did, they admitted to making adjustment and then trying to fix it in November because suddenly too many unid dyes were dropping everywhere when they did it.)

Not to mention the 400% economy inflation. Wanna know how your game is too limiting? When you have massive inflation in your version of the auction house that continues to grow eternally throughout the game’s lifetime. It’s still going up for obvious reasons.

In two more months it will most likely be at 500% for the items I’ve been tracking since November 2012 unless they finally and at long last lose the DR and restore loot to the open world for solo legit farmers to acquire.

Yep. Events were designed around a succeed/fail system, not suspend in perpetuity so people can farm. But, as I’ve said, the malcontents that infest this forum don’t want to hear reason or logic. They’re here to complain, and nothing is going to stop them from doing so.
