Wow. I have enough gold to exotic somewhere between 10-15 alts. The only thing I cannot afford is a precursor or legendary. Good thing I don’t want one, eh? That said, I don’t farm that often, but when I do I feel content with what the game gives me.

I’ll bet the spider hatchlings don’t drop loot because they are “technically” part of the original mob. Whether they drop loot or not, Veteran Spider Hatchlings as infinite repeat summons is a bad mechanic. It can get out of control if you are at the minimum number of players to spawn the champion spider in the first place, with no hope to ever catch up on killing them.

So in the other thread a dev just confirmed that they nerfed that spot due to bots.

I guess everyone will have to suffer rather than ban those specific bots.

Nerfing events realty means closing loop holes that ppl explode as a means to get lots of items and gold at a faster rate then other players there by making that event chance unusable by any other player? You know the game GW2 is not Loot wars 2 and if your spending all your time playing to just get more items i think its time for you put the game down for a time. GW2 is not your stander mmorpg item grab game you could make a game full of pinatas where you run though hitting them and they give you items to hit these pinatas faster and more likely to get better items but that would be VERY boring.

Ya…. you do that with any hope of having friends and not getting kicked from your guild. I did farm it but every one who was knew for sure it was going to get nerfed.

It was the same way with the spark camp they simply just make the sparks charges up the event thing once you killed one. The nice thing that we can get from all of this is that they knew we where farming it and it was ok when you had player who where not botting but once we had a large number of bots show up to these events they where pulled back.

As a community we must not let the bots take the places of ligament players if a person uses a bot even the simple ones then well that person is to blame for this. At this camp mainly the idea is to pull back as a group to see who is botting because the bots do not pull back with you and the mobs will still spawn at the high level and numbers due to the numbers of players.

there should be a better solution instead of punishing everyone else. we are not botters, we are players.

introduce a 3rd party software detection embedded to gw2 or make it un-editable.

why must we suffer? why not let the 3rd party app users suffer?

if they are really keen on getting rid of 3rd party software/exe/app users, they should do it since in wvw, there are positioning hacks, which they can even see people in stealth, waypoint hacking, where people teleport to anywhere they want, etc etc hacks.

why, why must the people that play by the book get punished? where is justice?

why are we as players getting discriminated and treated as a botter?

why are we as people supporting a game and keeping it alive/lively getting punished?

why?

Well (responding to your other post too) how invasive are you willing to let Anet be? Is it ok with you if they know what going on to the program names that your running on your pc at the same time as your running GW2? There a point where they cant and should not look because that becomes an invasion of privacy.

there are signatures on the apps where you can list them as “hackware” just as how antivirus works. just needs to be updated by time to time. they can FIND it, Implement it, Block it. instead. looking back at the multiple variants of trojans, hackware, crackers, patchers. they are all signature based when scanned. even on android, games have anti hacking mechanism which detects memory injections etc. why not here?

Dude this is all a moot point.

Anet said they found a large number of botters. Well Anet should just take action against the botter’s accounts rather than use heavy handed swinging.

I swear to God, I had so much fun doing this. I quit playing back in September because every route to the path of least resistance was being nerfed. That wasn’t fun for me, that was like being abused. I just got back like, May 10th. Two weeks. I found the Skelk area down in Southshore and thought 1g an hour was REALLY GOOD. Then somebody told me about Union Waypoint. And now it’s been nerfed.

Realize it’s not a specific event that’s being nerfed. It’s a style of gameplay they’re nerfing. People who enjoy that style of gameplay are fed up, and these posts are evidence of that.

Anet. I’m done. I’m sorry I spent $30 on this game to support you because I had found means to an end. You won’t get anything else from me, even my user logged in to your game until you apologize to the community for abusing a segment of players who enjoy playing your game in a way that we have enjoyed playing other games.

it really depends on how you see it, the old method was running a plain “scanner” with hash check @ client side while launching will update the “virus” signature to detect the stuff. nowdays they have better methods.

besides, if anet decides to spy on you, they can. if you are so worried, do not run any scripts or executable files. point is, even on the launcher they could spy on you without letting you know. it wouldn’t be listed as a virus if written differently and newly developed because there is no such signature on the database of your antivirus.

Quite frankly, while the dev states there’s no “suspicious” thing going on, I can’t really trust anything what Anet says nowadays…

Once upon a time they stated they had nothing against the farmers, but nerfed plinx, frostgorge troll blood farming spot, grubs.

Once upon a time people went around straits to get karma. Character swapping resets Karma dr. Anet removed that option.

Once upon a time they stated your end game can be done anywhere, but that’s not true, the rewards are trash if it’s not a dungeon or level 80 farming spots.

Once upon a time exotic was the highest tiered gear, then came ascended treadmill, over which I boycotted the game for 2 months, until laurels came out.

Do I think this game is at, its end? Almost. The next thing that’s going to be on Anet’s nerf list is the COF dungeon. Once that happens, the economy is going to get screwed and it’s time to permanently trash can this game. No amount of “living story” will bring players in, because there’s no hard content worth playing for.

I just don’t even understand why it’s necessary to nerf plinx farm, or even have DR getting in after 30 minutes. That’s just disgusting.

I am not sure if they can. It would be like bring a case to ppl who play there games after they payed for them if they do something “out side” of the user agreement. In truth this may be a means of dealing with the xbox one problem is there a right to not have added payment to goods after bought?

That the thing there no criminal case brought up this all falls under your aggrement to play there game. The rights they wish to give you is just that the ones they wish to give you.

I do not know many other solutions to fix the botting problem seeing thakittens been planing mmorpg from nearly the start and still going on i am not sure if there is a one solution trick to it. At best they must try to make what the botters are using as a means to make “too good to be true money” so they can turn a profit.

What you do not seem to understand is that these come up from ppl finding tricks in the system so what you may call a nerf is in truth a fixing of the system back to the way it was first made to be.

Look your asking for a short term gold farm after time this gold will become the stander. What helps you now will destroy things in the long run to where you MUST play the game this way. I could only stand the camp for 1hr at most but after months of it you would need to start to do it longer then that 1hr of time pushing ppl to NEED to farm and being that this was the best farm they would all go there.

Overall, everything they’ve done about farming makes sense.

If something is the obvious go-to choice for farming because it gives more than the average amount of loot, then it’s an exception to the game design. All parts of the game deserve to be viable, and that means making sure all parts are as equal as possible to make them so.

“Why do they hate farming? I want to farm. Don’t impede that!”

You can still farm, definitely. They’re just making sure it’s not more beneficial to farm one place over all others because of drop frequency or some other mechanic. It’s fair, and it makes sense. You’re still able to farm to your hearts content.

there should be a better solution instead of punishing everyone else. we are not botters, we are players.

introduce a 3rd party software detection embedded to gw2 or make it un-editable.

why must we suffer? why not let the 3rd party app users suffer?

if they are really keen on getting rid of 3rd party software/exe/app users, they should do it since in wvw, there are positioning hacks, which they can even see people in stealth, waypoint hacking, where people teleport to anywhere they want, etc etc hacks.

why, why must the people that play by the book get punished? where is justice?

why are we as players getting discriminated and treated as a botter?

why are we as people supporting a game and keeping it alive/lively getting punished?

why?

It’s really not gamers problem it’s Anet’s. This is their product and they created this situation. Botters haven’t been effected but the players have. They shouldn’t have created a game with an economy like they have. This whole Free 2 Play and B 2 Play is garbage and DR and RNG are the result of players being to cheap to pay a sub.

It has nothing to do with F2P or what GW2 is B2P games that are P2P have the same problems and they effectively changes there drop rates to fix them. You do not want the game economy to become a non gold use like there was in GW1 where ecto where used as money and not money due to hyper inflation because of farming and zones full of bots.

there are sooooooo many things that you dont see and dont know happening mate, its like long ago when win95 you can do so much exploits from the net, also modems where you can send shutdown commands or kill it for certain amount of time just to make them stay offline lol. how safe is the internet? nobody knows for sure

they can be taken to court if they dont state it but if they state it in black and white, accept or quit. then you have a choice to play or leave. it would be better anyway.

no, actually EA has stated that. The same way that they did state that they’re able to remove your game if you don’t play it for 1 year. They were still taken to court for that and such statements were removed. Terms and Conditions have to match up with other laws. You can’t state whatever you want in them.

imagine if anet filed a court case against botters

I am not sure if they can. It would be like bring a case to ppl who play there games after they payed for them if they do something “out side” of the user agreement. In truth this may be a means of dealing with the xbox one problem is there a right to not have added payment to goods after bought?

dude, its about us man, we play in this game but considered as criminals. nerf after nerf after nerf in the name of botting. any other ways to stop this cycle of craziness?

get other solutions to fix it?

meh, ok, someone said putting an antivirus for this game is not possible, then make it impossible to hook on the game process? make it non inject-able? find a different solution?

come on… this been here for 8 months + and in this time period, we as players are getting hammered hard. why us?

are we all criminals? are we not supposed to play as we want? jesus christ, fix it. once and for all.

so many hacks not fixed, but “exploits” gets patched. google around and i see a tonne of hacking apps for gw2, in chinese, english, even in some other languages i cant read.

this u cant do, that u cant do. what can u do?

I could only stand the camp for 1hr at most but after months of it you would need to start to do it longer then that 1hr of time pushing ppl to NEED to farm and being that this was the best farm they would all go there.

that event and so many others have been here since launch… people been farming or doing it silently. now, since this is the case, next time there is a farm spot, best to keep silent and only do yourself and close friends. keep silent and stay away from others

when you guys say its meant to be, you are saying it for yourself? honestly tho, we have WvW to burn gold, have PvE to make gold. both to find some mats.

why must pve get nerfed? i just dont get the meaning of this.

so, if this is the case, we organize a massive zerg on 2 servers or 3, each take turns to tap and kill each other once, and keep repeating it for gold and loots and wxp and title. is that an exploit? i think with all the pve nerf, this might be a good alternative at least we can see people scream more)

I am also disappointed. Disappointed that more difficult content in this game rewards far worse than easier low lvl content. I’ve done FOTM 30+ runs without even a rare, yet I have friends that do multiple auto-attack faceroll, lvl 20 and under events and get rare gear? Same with running arah. In the time I do that, others can run mindless events and get better results. I mean, I like the challenge, but don’t get the reward strategy here?

To me that seems odd. Likewise, the best money maker in the game is speed running easy content. In many other games you can at least do ok running harder maximum lvl content. Not so here?

I don’t think Anet is against farming, not anymore.

I used to think that Anet is against farming, but then here comes the Secret of Southsun Cove, which anet gives you a 24 hours 200% MF boost, and several repeatable and profitable events. It almost feel like Anet want you to farm, happily.

and I have been enjoy my 200% MF boost so far…and those T6 scales and bloods from sharks and skelks.

so maybe, they are just against people intentionally letting Lyssa remain contested so these people can farm all day.

Then what the hell will you farm after the southsun event ends next month huh?

as for lyssa the farmers had All the aggro on then if anyone wanted to do the event he/she simply had to walk behind the wall and knock it down safely.

coe is ok but long. missing the challenge from alpha tho lol. but its ok due to the trash loots.

One thing I have learned from the whole GW2 experience is when you log in if you can’t talk in trade chat without being suppressed, if you can’t trade an item to another player, if you can’t mail whatever and whenever you want to mail to another player what makes you think they’ll let you do anything else you want to do?

I think Arena Net is still focused on creating an “innovating game”. Which is why they are trying to force farmers to other content. I don’t think Anet realizes they already have a solid game which still has so much potential, but they are nerfing the wrong areas just making a large chunk of the playerbase angry.

They nerf everything profitable so farmers would do something else, but what they should really be doing is making other things more profitable.

The funny bit is, when I played Guild Wars 1, the loot was, for the most part, equally unrewarding. I mean you’d do a dungeon and you’d get these yellow drops (which we called gold drops) and they’d be worthless. You could get some coin by selling them as unidentified golds for people who were working on their wisdom title, but basically, they were worthless.

It would get to the point after a while where nothing that dropped really meant anything unless it was a black or white dye….or an ecto if you were in the underworld. Or a lock pick.

Guild Wars 1 wasn’t really a loot based game, and neither is Guild Wars 2.

You forgot to mention Jaya Blufs and the insane amount of feathers farmable there, bought most of my HoM farming that 1 area, but agree rest of game was meh loot wise.

Arena net nerfs farm spots because they want you to do events around the map. Cursed Shore was all about completing events for farm, that got nerfed. Lyssa is a good farm and its a farm you don’t need to worry about because once the mobkitten 82, people have already akitten and the loot just sits there culling the mob then everyone dies.

At Lyssa if you show up and start breaking the walls without saying anything then you are obviously going to hear mean things. Just because one person decides they want to purify a temple doesn’t mean we all have too. Get your guild to help or guest to a server that has the temple open most of the time, like Jade’s Quarry.

Cof P1 farm isn’t an exploit, the entire path is run, the mob that is skipped is an optional mission and if you didn’t already notice they took away the ranged safe wall by the acolytes.

Game economy right now is crap, it was a lot better with bots.

Arena net, at level 80 we don’t want to do a boss open the chest and see greens and blues. The fact that someone can put in 99% of the work to kill something and still get worse loot than the person who only does 1% sucks.

So if we don’t farm a bit, what do you propose we do? Because the Lyssa farm dropped blood by 8s and scales by 6s making it easier for casuals to buy them, how is that bad?

Vayne it was different for me, I loved doing the dungeons and always felt rewarded. Especially when it was the daily, even when I got a green drop ( worth 1k) from the chest my heart beat a little faster and the one and only time I got a froggy sceptre in Bogroots I almost had a heart attack. Sadly it was crappy stats but still had fun selling in Spamadan.

But realistically how often did you get a green drop that was worth 1k. Surely you remember doing dungeons and just getting a gold drop that was worth crap. For every ten dunegons you did, maybe you go one decent drop. That was it.

In later days, once the HoM calculator was out, at least the onyx and diamonds were worth something but most of the yellow drops and even most of the green drops become worthless. There were so many green drops you had to merch because no one wanted them. Cyndr’s Heart anyone?

Thing is I enjoyed doing them, when it was the daily double win. I’d help someone who hadn’t done it with my heroes or if there was Rraggars (spellcheck) with Guild/Alliance I’d go. I don’t feel that in this game.

In GW I could slowly save up for skins etc. if I tried that with a legendary or some weapons on the TP, I’d be here till doomsday and with nothing fun like pugging being an option, what to do.

At the 10 month mark in Guild Wars 1, something like Obby armor was almost completely out of everyone’s reach. In two, three years time, the times you’re talking about, the whole situation will be different.

In vanilla Prophecies, money was very hard to come by.

I never played the vanilla (first game was GW/EotN thing), I was too busy being a sucker on games like Flyff at the time

This is my usual point. People are comparing this game to Guild Wars 1 after Guild Wars 1 had three games and an expansion. As MMOs age everything becomes easier to get, and there’s more stuff to get.

I think the reason things are harder to get early on is because that replaces content that can’t exist because there’s not enough time for it TO exist. So the company makes it harder to get things and some people don’t like that. Maybe those people will leave the game.

But I’d be happy to wager that more people will leave a game after they get everything they want than those people who have stuff to work towards.

For me the obtainable becomes the impossible though. I got all I wanted in GW’s and the game should have the learned from the first game in total of the whole experience. In GW2 it’s just too many hoops for me, I still play the game with alt’s but feel excluded from many things I could achieve in the first game by comparison, if that makes sense.

But you didn’t play the game at 10 months. You don’t know how far out of reach that stuff would have seen had you played then. There’s a lot of stuff when I started playing Guild Wars 1 that I felt were completely out of reach…but eventually they weren’t.

If you hang around or come back later, the same situation will exist here. Nothing I said is changed by what you said.

I get what you’re saying (I think), but we can’t disregard the learning curve of the actual game and rewards. Did GW change for the worse (excluding shadow form or Ursan) or were the drop rates ever so brutally nerfed that people left because of them? The granted chests for world events seem to say that people felt unrewarded.

People left Guild Wars 1 for all sorts of reasons, including feeling forced to play the build of the month. It wasn’t called Build Wars for nothing. Guild Wars 1 always had lots of trick/farming builds that made PVe content trivial. Not just Ursan and perma, but sabway, discord builds, imba paragons ( who could almost permanently eliminate 90% of the entire team’s damage), 600 monks…there were always builds that broke the system.

In fact, with a party of heroes I could do 99% of the game’s content without even playing. I could Akitten and my heroes could beat the game without me. There were plenty of problems on the PVe side of Guild Wars 1, even though I loved it.

And yes, people left every time a farming build was nerfed. But they weren’t the people I particularly cared about leaving anyway.

You cannot have an MMO that has zero farming.

Until this point I was with you.

But, where does this come from? You state this as if it’s a universal truth. And yes, many many MMORPGs have turned to farming as a way to provide long-term player engagement via extrinsic reward systems, usually in the form of ever-improving tiers of gear (+ ever improving tiers of enemies or enemy gear, making you factually no stronger than before).

But isn’t it a very personal thing whether one enjoys farming (and hence plays a game heavy on farming) or doesn’t (and hence plays a game for the gameplay)?

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

I agree that it isn’t a good thing to farm on one spot. The problem here is: you don’t get reliant drops when moving on to other places.

I’d suggest: give each mob which has more than 100% bonus xp (mobs which haven’t been killed for a while) a reliable droprate for crafting mats.

example:
Mobs which give 200xp + 100bonus xp drop 1 piece of t6-material guaranteed +have 100% magicfind on them
Mobs which give 200xp + 800bonus xp drop 8 pieces of t6-material guaranteed +have 800% of magicfind on them

So people would spread out and farm in small groups all over the map instead of zerging everything down. This would also make events much more interesting.

You know, if you actually tried it, no one is stopping you from completing the event. Sure, you’ll be looked on disapprovingly, but the wall was right there for you to destroy if you wanted to.

Ya…. you do that with any hope of having friends and not getting kicked from your guild.

I think we all know where a majority of those bots are coming from and I’ve been apart of a few games that -banned- everything from that place on EU, NA, etc servers. You know what happened? Bots became few and far between. Yes, they still existed but the number was so much smaller it really meant jack all.

That is the true end all solution but any company with a branch in the NA refuses to do it. While other countries such as with FF Online, Ragnarok, any little MMO you can think of our IP’s are banned from DAY ONE on their servers. Some like Ragnarok even if you made it you were treated worse then dirt on their servers to the point it made goon harassment look polite and banned within a day.

It’s a crock of bull to me. The solution is clear even with proxy’s and such. They just do not want to do it because it’s a hassle, would cost them money, whatever BS excuse you want to toss up for them. Ban that place off EU and NA servers! Be done with it and let us play our games without you adjusting our fun to their bleck natures already. Stop the blanket bans and just block them all.

I have a hard time believing they nerfed this area due to bots, you would think if they thought or knew they had bots in the area they would have some sort of program to monitor what each account does in there game.

I know very little about bots but from what i looked up they run a pretty static program and would almost do the same thing every time. If that is true look for those kind of things and ban those accounts where you see that happening.

But someone posted earlier saying something that kinda made sense as well, Anet and whoever else runs the show are here to generate money and by reducing the farming they think they are increasing gem sales.

Banning legitimate players based on their host nation is a ‘BS excuse.’

Let me say it outright then. How many from China do you really think in the US are legitimate players? Throw out a number high enough to matter and we can talk but the simple truth is the number so small it’s not even noteworthy. It is just a vast majority of bots and we all know it. Those few games I was apart of that just banned China? The community only got better across the board without the massive reduction in bots.

Also how is fair that we get banned in the EU and from NA to SA on pretty much all other nations servers across the board. Yet me presenting a very real solution to the problem that has been proven to work so bad or unfair? Especially when we all know they will eventually get their own server as they nearly always do. So they can play the game there without issue anyways.

It really sounds like to me you are more worried about political correctness then actually doing something about the issue. Probably one of the actual reasons sadly it never gets done over here very often. Even though it would be better for the majority of people who PAID for the service. This isn’t a rights issue or anything big. It’s a paid service in a service industry and what I have said isn’t a bad thing in that context at all.

Often those who use bots also are the same people who steal accounts. All you’d be doing by banning the bots is to make them cycle through the stolen accounts faster. It’s not really a solution.
