Waypoints Walking Distance
Your process of logic is terrible. Instead of res-rushing, why not get your team mates to res you, it takes two seconds to be ressed by a few people.
It isn’t punishing anyone at all, it’s actually removing an exploitive type of gameplay behaviour that shouldn’t be there in the first place.
Have more people alive and fighting will make the battle go faster and will thus provide the greatest chance of reward.
Anyone who doesn’t rez people in that kind of event doesn’t deserve the reward for beating it.
I even want ArenaNet to remove more waypoints.
Like the outposts in original Guild Wars. The distance between some were huge.

I res players who go down whenever I see them, if I can get to them. Sometimes even at the expense of falling down myself, but so far most people lend a hand when I go down, too.
The only time this hasn’t happened was during the recent invasion events. Many times I’ve gone down and been ignored for an extended period of time, even abandoned when the zerg moves on to the next hot spot. I attribute it to the “CoF Zerker” crowd abandoning their favorite instance to make more loot in the open world. When this happens I just go to a WP somewhere and find a different zerg to run with.
If it starts happening at meta-events as well… I’ll keep a magazine handy to read while I wait for someone to res me.

I’ll confess that I’ve gotten more selective about when I res in Clockwork Chaos. Every death I’ve experienced in this content was either from trying to res someone or from trying to get a drop. In every instance, more Aetherblade Strikers spawned and laid down overlapping AoE stun fields. I haven’t seen the new Teq event yet, but based on past performance I expect there to be AoE fields on the downed — it’s what ANet does.
I can understand being unable to get to someone while the fighting is going on, but it bothers me that many players would leave the “wounded” behind in the rush to the next loot piñata. It only takes a few seconds for a group to res three or four downed members after the fighting is over, but it seems like people are more interested in drops than teamwork.
Only a matter to make people actually res others. I have been in the situation several time where I have been downed, a couple or so people have been standing on me and attacking the mob that keeps attacking me so I cannot res myself. And no one else is ressing me.
The best thing to do when you are downed is hope that someone kills the mobs that downed you – Instant rally. However when you are dead you need a rez.
I have trouble trying to get the downed up while they are covered by powerful mobs but when there is a break or at the end I always rez.
It’s true about the zerg loot mentality. I have been left for dead after trying to rez someone near a powerful mob and then the two of us were left for dead as the zerg moved on. It doesn’t happen often but it does happen.
I am on the fence on the contested waypoint. Dying and wp’ing is never ‘free’, there is always broken armor. However having to run usually means a smarter more strategic playstyle so one doesn’t have to run forever to rejoin the battle.

Again, I res people most of the time — but I won’t res someone who’s defeated if they are within spitting distance of an uncontested waypoint, particularly if the event is still going on. I swear I see this behavior all the time. Are they unwilling to spend the 1s+?
From what I see during the invasions, most people will pick up the downed immediately, but will not pick up the fully dead until the event is over.

It’s not about the money, it’s about courtesy. I’ll res anyone I can, down or defeated, and I expect the same consideration from others.
The triviality of death is part of why anything but dps is crap. Even with this change it may remain as such, but it’s certainly a step.
However, this doesn’t take in account lag…
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Rezzing someone who’s downed only takes a few seconds and I always pause to rez them…unless there’s an angry mob beating on me.
If the player is actually dead, and you still have the “in-combat” flag set, it takes absolutely ages to rez them. It’s just not worth it during a fight.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Best be putting those revive orbs you got from achievement chest to use.

The main reason I’m concerned about this is because there are way more people flaunting about in Berserker gear than just those who are skilled enough to do so.
I can take care of myself (I’m smart enough to realize I am not skilled enough to go berserker), and I’m not worried about the res on a personal level. However, I fear it’ll ruïn the events.
My prediction is that a large group of people that cannot dodge will be laying on the ground defeated, and the group that’s still upright can’t afford to res them. And why bother, because they’ll go down again quickly enough.
I’m not saying the waypoint should be next to the boss, but 1 minute is the other extreme. What’s wrong with say, 30 seconds? Or even 15?
And on a side note, what about the waypoints being untravellable? Fairly recently there were huge complaints about this happening in Orr. Why is it suddenly OK?

That was horrible. I really didn’t enjoy dying then spending a hour running back to where I was.
Touch of an exaggeration, Xae. No two points were an hour apart in GW1, unless you were attempting to WALK to drok’s from ascalon, or something absolutely goofy like that.
