Weapon Size
Yes that’s a smaller greatsword in the picture. Many are the size of the one in the first picture. They come in many shapes and sizes. I personally think some of them are to big
alot of greatswords for asura clip through the ground already, so no thanks
I have the opposite view – most of the weapons are far too large and cumbersome. I’d absolutely hold it as a downgrade if they were to be made any bigger, and I’m always hoping for more reasonably sized weapons. I want sleek and elegant weaponry, and with all due respect, I do not feel the need to compensate for anything with oversized swords.
please don’t misunderstand me, I have nothing against the weapons resizing to fit the size of the character. an asura with a big weapon is just awkward to move with, but for other sizes of characters its not so far fetched an idea. even an option to resize weapons to fit persons preference would be acceptable. Its a fantasy game, why not have fun with it. not everything has to be over realistic.
That cracks me up, because I’d love to see every weapon in the game about half the size they are now.
The OP has picked one of the smallest greatswords in GW2 (same basic model as Cobalt) to illustrate the point, which is rather unfair.
Overall I’ll echo the insofar prevailing opinion in the comments: I don’t particularly want larger weapons in GW2. There is, however, a number of outlandish fantasy-ish GS skins in the game that are not far from what the OP seems to like. Just browse galleries on the wiki.
They are already gargantuan! The fantesyesqe humongousness of them is insane. If anything they need to be reduced in size and bulk. Wow!
OP have you ever actually held or swung a real sword? I know its a fantasy game, but come on – were pushing the extreme limits of that in weapon size already, any bigger and they have to reclassify this game as a superhero genre game.

I appreciate the people who had made honest feed back, expressed their own opinion but still respected mine. For those who wish to just put down other I will respectfully ask you to haunt someone else’s posts. ether way it seems there is an impression that what I said should effect each and every character and player, that is not the case. I would just like an option to be able to make my weapons fit my perspective for my characters. in addition the option for others to do as they see fit with there’s, weather larger or smaller being up to them. If that is such an outlandish option then I apologise in advanced for suggesting it. I wish you all a good day.
There are greatswords in this game? I thought everyone was running around with full traits in surfboard mastery ;j
I don’t think anyone was attacking you OP, just saying that huge over-sized weapons are more for Anime and Cartoon Caricature(Games Workshop, and everyone who stole from them, especially Blizzard, mostly Blizzard) style games than for GW2. Also, lots of us see a whole lot of influence from those in just how BIG weapons in this game already are and dread the idea of seeing a whole legion of folks running around with blades twice as wide as their torsos. It’s not so much that we don’t want it for our characters, it would also conflict with the whole world design, and we’d be forced to see it everywhere there were other people. For every one person like me who’d try to shrink their weapons down to something a human being could actually carry, there would be 30+ 14 year old boys slamming the slider all the way over to the largest size.
Oh come on, a female asuran warrior with a huge hammer is made of awesome.
I’d rather not see yet more doorswords.
i wished they would make the weapons big on my small asura
To me all of the greatswords in the game look like they are drastically oversized and would be impossible to wield for a real human.
I don’t mind because it’s a fantasy game. The one thing I would like to see a bit more of would be huge, powerful looking rifles that look like they have the capability of automatic fire or shooting out specialty munitions. Something with an under-barrel bola launcher maybe.
No way, the gw2 weapons are already disproportionately huge to the point where they look ridiculous. If anything, they should be made smaller.
I would like 99% of the weapons to be much smaller than what they are now. Never liked the oversized things.
To make an example, most of the great swords. they are closer to the size of a one handed sword then a two handed one.
You need glasses.
If you already have glasses, you need a new prescription.
I don’t even…
japanese/korean MMO always have ridiculous weapon size.

No, they’re not.
While I agree that some could be a bit bigger, I don’t think that making them all Tera-sized is a good idea.
Also, choosing one of the smallest greatswords to try and “prove” your point that they’re small isn’t something that the community is going to overlook. If you even glance at that gallery you will see that you are completely incorrect.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
Completely agree, especially with the design of the hammers in the game. Some of them are absolutely pathetic looking. They admittedly have been getting better in some of the newer sets but they still need to be at least 20%-50% bigger on average.

I like doorswords. They’re awesome. Please keep us supplied with doorswords. Last most awesome sword for me was the Mordrem GS.
It’s a fantasy game world, it’s okay to exaggerate the details for the sake of aesthetic. To a point.
That said, OP, we have several huge swords to pick from already.
If you want them to go even bigger, play a norn or a charr. Really unfair comparison you’re making VS Tera using one of the smallest great swords in the game.
GW2 has several GS as large or larger than the pictures you posted. That’s the reason people are lashing out at you, not because of your opinion.
You’re being dishonest.

I like doorswords too, but there are still people in the community who don’t. That’s why there are so many options for aesthetics. Making them all bigger would irritate those who are happy with their skins the way they are.
Instead of making them all bigger, making a wider variety of smaller and bigger swords would be nice.
If everyone liked the same thing we’d all go around wearing the same armor and wielding the same weapons. That’s not the game I want to play.

^ This exactly. If you want to compare, fine, then do so. But compare them fairly.

GW2 greatswords are just fine
As far as I know sometimes the gear preview tends to shrink two-handed weapons when you are viewing it on the back of the character. Switch to “wield” for the proper size.
Have you seen Sunrise or Twilight? Or the black lion greatswords? They are HUGE. There is reason to make them even bigger, they are already touching the ground
Some weapons are too small when shrunk to fit my Asuran chars imo. I don’t have any pics on my phone to show but I’m thinking of my Tormented Warhorn and The Anomaly, both of which aren’t very visible even when held.
Also, off topic but the Selfless Potion halo should be made a lot bigger for Asuran chars too.
Welcome to the Internet, exposing characters since the early 80’s.
On all the bigger races I have to say I think they’re in a good place, some smaller some bigger a few huge.
That said, I do find many of them scaled down a bit too far on Asurans.
We (no pun intended) get the short end of the stick on everything.
Paid for gem store sets are missing bits and pieces that make them 100x cooler on the big races.
Mesmer greatsword doesn’t do its floaty trick like it does for the big people.
There’s nothing as disappointing as seeing something awesome on a big person, wow cool that’s awesome, only to find out we get the happy meal version.
I am quite aggrieved to see an awesome greatsword, and end up with a toothpick painted to look like it. >:(
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Size doesn’t matter.
Its how you use it.

Hello everyone
I would like to make this feed back about weapon sizes in guild wars 2. I’m sure there will be people who agree/disagree with this feed back, but I must speak my mind. I find that most weapon types in this game are just too small compared to the character. To make an example, most of the great swords. they are closer to the size of a one handed sword then a two handed one.
in response to making a good feed back as per the gm post:
Ask yourself: “How can I make this content better?" – the answer is simply, make weapons longer or just bigger in general to allow us to enjoy the quality of it. its hard to enjoy something we cant see or just seems unimpressive.
•Consider: How have you seen this particular problem solved in other games? – one example would be the slayer class (greatsword class) of tera online. the blade is big and magnificent, as a result the class is highly famed, used, and admired, one feels impressed carrying a sword around that’s as tall as one character.
•Consider: How do you think this particular element or aspect of the game could be improved? – I think it would improve the visual impact of the game, when people play online games they want to feel that have something of worth or appealing.
•Tell us why: If we ask a specific question, don’t just answer it—tell us why you answered that way. – To be put bluntly, gw2 greatswords just don’t seem great. and the same could be said about most of the blade like weapons. modern games now growing more in that visually impressing the players with fascinating gears just makes one feel more excited to play using them.

you’ve not seen a Fellblade have you. Or any of the Charr themed greatsword.

On the plus side, I’d somehow missed the skin that OP used as an example, and now have a new favorite GS skin, thanks OP.
The OP has picked one of the smallest greatswords in GW2 (same basic model as Cobalt) to illustrate the point, which is rather unfair.
Yes, but since he doesn’t have much of a point to begin with I’d imagine he’d want to stack things in his favor as much as possible.
I’m actually curious— is it the size or shape of greatswords that you’re talking about? Perhaps both? I would imagine a solution would be to have a weapon size / scale slider, but I don’t think that would achieve your purpose, as simply scaling up some swords still wouldn’t make them TERA-esque.
That being said, I’ve actually always felt that we had a surplus of “paddle” greatswords… and if we’re talking real life proportions, many one-handed swords could categorize as swords that you would hold with two hands. But that’s real life, and this is a game
Anyways, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get more massive greatswords with HoT. If you compare the quality of skins we’re getting now with the quality we’ve had before… ANet has definitely taken more artistic liberties with their weapons.
Cheers!
Get yourself twilight/sunrise/eternity = done.
I actually would like some smaller green gs for my female necro =x
You want a big weapon? 1 word: Charrzooka
you thought there would be something “clever”
or “funny” in this signature. You thought wrong.
