Weapons are OVERSIZED
its the weapon that is oversized. Your Charr has VERY short legs! and the angle of how its hanging is wrong.
My Norn can’t use most weapons because they look tiny and ugly.
You’re right, things are being OverSized and OverDesigned.
Don’t worry. A big chunk of oversized weapon will hide your ugly armor, or vica-versa, meanwhile overdesigned things will drop your Community-Hub FPS by 50.
(Some tweak on automatic model-size adjusting would be nice)
After all, it’s so called “The Future of Fantasy”
R.I.P.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Yes, there should be some sort of automatic resizing of the weapons. Still, at least the weapons aren’t as kittenome other games like Terra. The Asian influence on video games favors excessively large weapons skins.
Actually, it would be a nice feature to be able to adjust the size of your weapons like you can the size of your character.
i like small characters , huge weapons
Yea, fantasy game trends, partly blame on players who think that a big weapon is cool.
Introducing new Immoralius axe, all the deadly blades are pointed towards the wielder, how cool is that! :P
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
I was actually going to THANK ANet for the Chaos weapons, because (for the most part) they aren’t as comically huge as most of their other offerings. (Yes, they are still unrealistic. But at least you can’t surf on the greatsword). Do you reckon Freud would think that some players’ desire for big weapons is compensation for a lack of something else?
I am all for more realism in my fantasy. (Yeah, that sounds weird to me too). The comical, cartoony look of WoW is a major reason why I was never interested in trying it out.
They can cut back the SHOULDER ARMOR and GAUNTLETS to realistic size as well, and I will buy more of them.

We aren’t all kids. (The game is supposed to be 13+)
Kids grow up. They won’t always be kids.

Kids don’t always get what they want.
Us money-slingers are only asking for a FEW sets of realistic-sized gear. Not even equal time. Just a few. That can happen.
EDIT: Flashy is the nook filled by Legendary weapons. We never said anything about flashy, just oversized. Realistic sized weapons can be just as flashy.

I’d also point out, who the hell would put a swinging axe on their belt? I mean really? lets hook it on the end so it can swing around and cut up my leg, this is a good idea!…
No flip it around, secure the axe onto the belt and let the handle swing around.
I thought the same thing after buying the Chaos Axe on my Human. I was like “whoa.. too big!”
I was looking at the chaos staff for me sylvari ele, and the thing looks huge! ….. the other weapons weren’t much better.
They all look out of proportion.
They make them smaller when put away, and you say THAT is too big?
why would you want some realistic kitten in a fantasy game ?
i like how my gs is bigger then my asura , and i dont play the game to see weapons that my norn could use as a toothpick
ps: most of you seems to be some kind of RP ppl , when will you get it that anet doesnt care about you and RP
I disagree. Weapons are way too less sized >_> . Try to play an asura, the most majestic staff looks like a magical wand of HP series.
What’s the objection to a COUPLE of “realistic” sized choices for people who like that? It’s not like we’re asking to take anything away from you. Didn’t your Mother teach you to share?

Nice how someone came here whinning about a game skin, and call the other players as childs haha.
Keep it up, good show so far.
would be nice if we had a weapon “scaling” in hero panel, where we could adjust the weapon scale a little.
probably never happen, but it would be nice XD. Heck make it cost a transmutation charge to “secure” size change.
so instead of having a weapon on legendary size, there is a cry for letter openers?
i am happy with the size of the blades, i even find some GS’s kinda small for it’s skin….

Yeah. Right. Exactly what we said. Letter openers.
Once again… it wouldn’t be taking ANYTHING away from the people who like huge weapons. All we ask is a couple of sets that are more reasonable. Nobody gets hurt. There’s no reason to object when nobody is losing anything.
Heck, sell a Weapon Size Changer in the Gem Store and milk us for it. Just give the people CHOICES, please.

Small? Most GS skins are nothing more than oversized pieces of junk. Don’t want to be the person wielding a paddle. Hell some skins even lack a blade.
I can live with most of the “oversized” skins but in my opinion they went a bit too far with the size of the GSs
If you want realistic sized weapons that you can realistically swing around in combat without hurting yourself, then the Greatswords will be about the size of the 1 hand Mithril Sword, which itself is the size of the average two handed Longsword from medieval times, and all 1 handed swords will be about the size of the daggers in this game.
The Mithril Greatsword in this game is roughly the size of a German two handed sword (Zweihander, etc.). The closest fighting style/animations in the game that can be used with a sword that large are probably female humans (and more specifically Rangers), because of how slow and methodical the animations look (except for Swoop). Otherwise, the weapon is too big and slow to be used effectively.
None of the fighting styles in the game are really that realistic either, so why should we have realistically sized weapons to go with an unrealistic fighting style?

Why not? Some people would like it, and it doesn’t take anything away from people who like the oversized weapons (and jumbo shoulders that float in the air, and gauntlets that dwarf a hockey goalie’s equipment).

Weapons are oversized so we can see them at all. Same for champions and some of the bosses. “Can’t see the boss? Let’s make it LARGER!”
I think it is the completely wrong solution to the problem.
a) We still can’t see the boss/champion/whatever, as the problem was never their size, but a zerg’s particle effects.
b) On the topic of weapons, they wouldn’t have to be oversized if the game allowed us to zoom closer to actually see the detail on our character/armor/weapon. Right now, the only way for me to see my own character up close is to either use a hairstyle kit, or stand nose-to-nose to a wall in order to force the camera closer.
Another problem with the zoom is that you can’t adjust the camera height at all, so you can’t see your character (zoomed in) when they’re sitting somewhere or lying down.
ANet, please allow us to zoom in closer (in the open world as well as hero window, preview window, and gem store preview). This way we will be able to see the detail on our characters without making things like weapons gargantuan in size.

Because the size of greatswords makes it easily recognizable. It makes you understand that the Player/Profession you are playing against is using the greatsword weaponset, and you will time your skills and dodges accordingly. If they were swinging around a realistic smaller sized weapon, and if there were no increase in particle animations to compensate, it would be confusing to a lot of people who would no longer be able to immediately tell which profession/weapon combination they are actually fighting against until after they were already attacked several times. We have this problem already with Asura, which is why Anet is implanting the standard enemy models, but only for certain PvP modes, which means it will still be a problem in WvW.

Evidently you came looking for an insult I wasn’t bringing. My use of the term Kids went along with Toys, I did not insinuate or infer people playing this game or reading these forums were kids. It was an analogy.
I clarify this because, as with many MMOs, people expect insults in discussions, chat and on forums, and I did not bring insults.

I think that’s pretty much the internet in general.
