Nice design… but really not a fan of how ANet insists on making skirts super flared out at the hips like tents / balloons / bells.
So you’d rather have legs clipping through the outfits… Gotcha.
Kinda a false dichotomy don’t you think? Also don’t put words in my mouth.
Why not have both (fitted & functioning)? It was achievable on the monk outfit with certain body types (before they “fixed” it)— it’s not as if they’ve expanded our selections of body types, so why not just make a fit for each one rather than building a lazy tent so we can shoehorn everything into one?
Then again, I guess we should just be happy that Charr / Asura got some love this time.

You see, it’s rather easy to hide a problem like legs clipping though a long dress by simply removing the texture of the legs past a certain point. This works all good and well for full, closed dresses like the Noble Count Outfit.
But the moment you make an outfit styled in a way that you can see those legs under it, problems seem to come up.
Now, there are ways to avoid that… One of them is to extend the dress out a little bit more. It’s the simplest fix to the problem… And when you are trying to finish/fix things on a deadline and/or with the least amount of recourses (which I am assuming is what they try and do since that’s what /everyone/ tries to do…) then guess what they are going to do…
There is very little ‘lazy’ about it… It’s ‘Get it done quickly.’ or more then likely ‘Fix it on your own time.’On an only slightly related note… These are wedding dresses… And last time I was looking to wear one, they were all big and poofy. They are /supposed/ to look that way.
Yes— finish it as fast as possible with the least amount of resources— it matters very little what the reason was, lazy or not. We’re arguing semantics at this point. The end result was what it was— sloppy. Also, it is a false dichotomy because you’re assuming that if one outcome cannot be had, it MUST be only one other. (I don’t want pear shaped dresses, therefore it must be that I would rather have clipped legs. False dichotomy).
Not all wedding dresses are big and poofy, either. I think we’re at a point where wedding dresses aren’t really “supposed” to look like anything specific— so long as it looks loosely related

That being said, I don’t think their approach is “wrong,” per say, as aesthetics really are subjective. Rather I wish they diversified more often from pear shapes.

Is it me or do the human ones look a lot like what Axl Rose and Stephanie Seymour wore in the November Rain video? The jacket isn’t exactly the same but with the right dyes I could see it looking very similar.
Now I want to make a character who looks like Axl and give him that outfit. (And use loads of shout skills.)

Anet knows some of the current trendy styles xDI did not know this term before. I was looking at them and thought they did not look like any wedding dresses I’ve ever seen anyone wear before. Now that I google it, i see there are actually wedding dresses that are similar in style. They do not seem to have the same formalness(?) that most wedding dresses have, but I have learned something today.
Not all wedding dresses, or weddings, are formal. Mine certainly wasn’t, I got married in a (blue) bridesmaids/prom dress in a garden and my top priority for the dress was making sure I could walk, dance, sit and eat loads of cake comfortably. I was outdone by my friend though, who got married in what I can only describe as a mass of colour then had a nerf gun fight in a field. Best wedding I’ve ever been to.
One of the things I like most about these outfits is that they’re tailored to each race and culture. I can’t imagine the charr (or the norn) wearing a “typical” wedding outfit, but these look like fancier versions of what the NPCs wear, which is perfect.

“I recall Colin or someone mentioned on Reddit that the reason they had them was specifically for gamescom where they had a access to a stocked wardrobe with everything they can pick/choose. However they don’t get to keep them. I am pretty sure Butterfly wings will be released to the public soon though, they wouldn’t design them just for a few players.”

The dress dyes wonderfully. The design reminds me of Oscar De La Renta a couple of years ago (God bless his soul what a talented man). I really look forward to buying them soon

I love these outfits ANet. I rarely come to the forums to post but I am very pleased to see this direction for outfits that look appropriate for each race.
Well, except charr, female charr look a little like a housecat stuffed into froofy clothes, but I’m okay with this.
