Week 2: A Fresh Start

Our second week of September 2014 Feature Pack reveals is focused on improving the Guild Wars 2 experience for new and veteran players alike!

Anyone have any clue what this could be? It’s pretty vague and it looks like it encompasses general changes to the game that affects all of us. Perhaps something guild related?

I would guess some kind of… thing… a change of some sort… to the… erm… maybe?

It is very vague, “improving the Guild Wars 2 experience for new and veteran players alike” could mean literally anything but I’m hoping it’s LFG tool improvements, in game timers (hopefully including some kind of temple alerts) and so on.

Similar to what I said in the BLTC forum re: trade and collection week, without at least the blog headers to use as speculation, it’s hard to do any. Sure, we could pull things out of left field just based on the wants/desires/rantings of the forums, but it’s sort of a waste of time. I’ll withhold my speculations until we can see the individual titles for the week.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

We have already seen the noob pointer during the presentation for WvW/PvP on gamescom. The chances are high that we see more features from the Chinese version implemented in our version: things like dodge tutorial or level-up chests. Even the new combat log would fit in this section. A drastic step would bee the bundling of the PS like in China.

As far as new player experience, the Devs did announce, long ago, that they were going to change the ‘new player experience’ for China, and also bring it to the Western version. So, maybe some of that?

the level-up chests in China contain things like 5 skill points, material bags, trait points, blues and greens (later rares) of the appropriate level etc. – small goodies in principle. Do not expect the exactly same content for us.

Somehow…. I can see a lot of people kittening about that….

sigh Can you imagine the uproar from some if they have to level to unlock weapon skills instead of just killing things?

Let’s hope for some distinct differences between the NA/EU and China, considering we don’t “play” the same way. But, as always, I’ll simply wait and see…

That’s possible. I was basing this more on the higher level scrolls, as I don’t think they want to new characters hit the cap that quickly with a level scroll.
