Week 2: A Fresh Start. Any clues?
Week 2: A Fresh Start
Our second week of September 2014 Feature Pack reveals is focused on improving the Guild Wars 2 experience for new and veteran players alike!
Anyone have any clue what this could be? It’s pretty vague and it looks like it encompasses general changes to the game that affects all of us. Perhaps something guild related?
I would guess some kind of… thing… a change of some sort… to the… erm… maybe?
It is very vague, “improving the Guild Wars 2 experience for new and veteran players alike” could mean literally anything but I’m hoping it’s LFG tool improvements, in game timers (hopefully including some kind of temple alerts) and so on.
New starter experience maybe?

Trait Revamp Redux.
…one can hope right?
All players will be stripped off all traits and skill points and be forced to endure the new trait system, either buying or going off to rediscover a map to ensure everyone is balanced.
My theory is that some enterprising and inventive young asura will invent (in one swell foop, as it were) soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, and anti-perspirant/deodorant (spray, roll-on, and solid), all marketed primarily toward bookahs (humans) and mega-bookahs (norn).
Im hoping it addresses zerging and open world dynamic event content(non-LS stuff).
Its my biggest wish for the game.

YESSSSSS please!

Oh god
Similar to what I said in the BLTC forum re: trade and collection week, without at least the blog headers to use as speculation, it’s hard to do any. Sure, we could pull things out of left field just based on the wants/desires/rantings of the forums, but it’s sort of a waste of time. I’ll withhold my speculations until we can see the individual titles for the week.

They are also reset to level 1 and loose all their skins and dyes … but they are able
to buy a race change ..

We’re finally leaving Beta!

We have already seen the noob pointer during the presentation for WvW/PvP on gamescom. The chances are high that we see more features from the Chinese version implemented in our version: things like dodge tutorial or level-up chests. Even the new combat log would fit in this section. A drastic step would bee the bundling of the PS like in China.
Maybe they’ll balance up- and downscaling so that low-lvl Characters stand a chance on the starter-maps and high-lvls don’t solo-faceroll everything in <80 maps.

Oh yeah .. and then we also get killstealing so that the change makes any real sense
because else it simply doesn’t make any sense at all .. at least i have never heared
someone complaining about highlevels “stealing” their mobs

I didn’t haunt Gamescon, so I wasn’t privy to it.
If there are decent goodies in the level up chests, I’m not going to up in arms over them and we do need some more tutorial stuff for new players. So…not upset if that turns out to be true for the first couple.
I’m sort of hoping we see the guild shard merge in this pack (which China has), so…maybe. Still, going to try to be a little more reserved in my expectations.
A Fresh Start = Gw3 confirmed!

Hopefully there are some actual new features.
The last “feature” patch mostly took things away and reduced the amount of features in the game.

Ok, I’m out of the loop, I guess. What’s a ‘noob pointer’?
As far as new player experience, the Devs did announce, long ago, that they were going to change the ‘new player experience’ for China, and also bring it to the Western version. So, maybe some of that?

You can actually see it in the same video people kept referring to for the commander info. It’s the gamescom one with Lindsey?? i think.
Basically, the green indicator star for your next story quest has a directional pointer.
The best thing to do right now is to not expect anything. Because with such lofty expectations, comes great disappointment or even anger.
Nothing is off the table, but maybe something to do with a keyboard and mouse.
Though we can’t confirm, there could be graphics in the game.
We’re still learning quite a bit from the last updates and continue to bring a broader experience to patching.
Stay tuned because we’re going to recap all these “don’t know” and “not sure” comments in our new web video series (insert title here).
I would guess bringing some of the changes they made to early game Chinese version to NA/EU servers. Can’t remember off the top of my head but there were some QoL changes made for Chinese release.

And what video would that be? I did a google search, and nothing recent came up for Gamescon…for me, anyway.

the level-up chests in China contain things like 5 skill points, material bags, trait points, blues and greens (later rares) of the appropriate level etc. – small goodies in principle. Do not expect the exactly same content for us.

This one:
Around 20-50 s you see the noob pointer in the upper right corner. In principle the pointer points to the nearest story step, POI, heart, vista, event etc. In the center of the pinter you see what target is currently active.

Somehow…. I can see a lot of people kittening about that….
sigh Can you imagine the uproar from some if they have to level to unlock weapon skills instead of just killing things?
Let’s hope for some distinct differences between the NA/EU and China, considering we don’t “play” the same way. But, as always, I’ll simply wait and see…
There one person who though it could mean that we may be able to spend where our attributes go as we level up. I am hoping for this to a point kind of removing attributes from tree lines so you can say be 6 in water with out waiting points in vit and healing power.

I do not expect exactly the same content. I assume a version adapted to EU/NA.

I would think so as well, but I try not to make assumptions. They tend to come back to bite us in the kitten . Still, here’s to hoping…
Perhaps replayable personal story? That would be awesome

Oh! Had to watch it 3 times to even notice the golden arrow! Looks just like the game cursor…lol. So….I’m guessing if you click on it, it opens the map to show you where to go?
All sylvarie are getting their leaves spruced and freshened

I have never seen somebody clicking on it. We have to wait for instruction manual.

That maybe it i would also like to see the ability to chose different so you can replay the ps and go down the different paths with out making a new hero.

The Noob cursor is hopefully something you can turn off. But i like that the new ui is a bit more compact.
I know people say to take datamined stuff with a grain of salt, but the higher level experience scrolls and skill point scrolls that was recently datamined could imply either a level cap increase or the infinite level scheme they once mentioned a long, long time ago.
My bet is on increase on level cap. And BIS will be much, much slower to obtain (and grindier).
Level cap increase? Hah. I’d forgotten about that particular Sword of Damocles. It would be exactly the wrong thing to do, and so I bet that’s exactly what they have planned.
As previously noted:
Q: Why not just make 80 better?
A: (chew gum with mouth open) This goes to 85.

Or could be second year birthday gifts? My too. Turns 2 in 5 days.

That’s possible. I was basing this more on the higher level scrolls, as I don’t think they want to new characters hit the cap that quickly with a level scroll.
I could be wrong, of course.
Just don’t get your hopes up. lol.

I think it’s to help people who don’t play all that much level alts. After 2 years I only have 2 level 80’s. My other 6 range from level 21-50. And they are mostly low dew to how the LW use to work. It’s spend the time I had doing the meta for them. Now I can choose when to do the LW most of my alts have gone up 5-10 levels in. The last 2 months.

Maybe they’ll finally allow us to salvage/mystic forge WvW and PvE (Whisper/Priory/Vigil) armor to get stuff back…
fresh start ? yeah.. everyone will start with 0 AP…
Archeage = Farmville with PK
My guess is that they’re reworking the personal story. Dry, but likely, since it was one of the most criticized aspects of the game.

And seeing as it says for veterans too, maybe they’ll let our characters who’ve done it, repeat it? I’d like that.
Maybe they’ll balance up- and downscaling so that low-lvl Characters stand a chance on the starter-maps and high-lvls don’t solo-faceroll everything in <80 maps.
It’s already too easy for low level characters.. I want the beta-state back where everything 2shots you.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
(Way too) optimistic me: yay new races/professions for everyone to discover something new like the first day we played!!!!
Pessimistic me: gemstore haircuts available in creation, yay…
