Yea that’s it.

Am I the only one who reinstalled Guild Wars 1 cause of the disappointment Guild Wars 2 is? If not, you can contact me there as Vael Strongbow (restarted completely)!

I would love to see more player like mobs (ones that have full player build abilities). In addition I would love to have templates for traits!

Let’s see….

Heroes (for dungeons)
Ranger pet ai
Guild Halls (these are coming eventually anyway)
Certain GW1 armors, but not going to flesh out that list…it’s a long one
Fow, UW (revamped)
FA, JQ (although, based on lore, not quite sure how these would work, but maybe something like them)

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

One of my favorite things in GW1 was the Signet of Capture and hunting down rare skills that weren’t sold by trainers.

I also think one of GW2s main issues that leads to players leaving is the relatively small amount of utility skills available for each profession. It’d be cool if they added like 10 new skills for each class that are only obtainable via Signet of Capture.

  • More skills (coming soon)
  • Guild Halls/GvG (needs to come asap)
  • Cantha and Elona
  • Dyable weapons (probably won’t happen…but I can DREAM)
  • No more gear tiers (honestly don’t think they will make another…)
  • 10-man or 2-team dungeons/elite content (VERY nice)

I’m pretty satisfied with GW2, though. GW1 was great, but using heroes to face roll “Hard Mode” content with 3-Sabway heroes, 3-Mesmer heroes, and an SoS ritualist was a bit silly.

And I do not miss Shadowform/55 farming…I actually do like meeting people in the world

I’m thinking about re-buying it off Amazon. Gave mine away July of last year thinking I’d never play GW2. Woe is me.

How’s the population? Spamadan still spammin’?

I’ve actually been playing GW1 a lot recently since I decided I really do want the Flameseeker title (I’m 1 point away from it and doing vanquishes for gold to get another armor set for it.)

The things I miss most when I switch back to GW2 are probably (in no particular order):

  • Click to move
  • Repeatable missions (aka story quests)
  • Being able to put skills anywhere on my bar. I really like having my attacks in the middle with some of what would be utility skills either side.
  • Being able to keep the bank tab open no matter where I am in a town.
  • Vanquishing – It still surprises me that I really enjoy it but I do, even now I’ve gotten the titles it’s one of the HM/end game things I’m most likely to repeat.
  • I find making a build much simpler. With only 5 armor pieces and no perks on attributes there’s less to consider, although the greater flexibility with skills does add complexity. Maybe it’s just that I’m more familiar with that system.

On the other hand there’s a lot more I miss about GW2 when I go back. Things like:

  • Dodging.
  • Being able to attack while moving.
  • The Trading Post. I have a bank tab 3/4 full of minis and green weapons I can’t be bothered selling because I’d have to research prices and then stand in Kamadan spamming them all day.
  • Switching to a completely different weapon and automatically getting skills for it.
*Randomly meeting other people out doing the same content and temporarily teaming up. (Not necessarily joining a party, or even talking, just fighting cooperatively.)
  • Non-grindy titles. Yes, really. If you think GW2 is bad try doing Saviour of the Luxons/Kurzicks, or even something relatively easy like Master of the North or Lightbringer. And then there’s the PvP titles, or Lucky/Unlucky…With the except of one or two (like giant slayer) this game is much better.
  • Actually having things to find when exploring. I’m probably the only person who really enjoyed the cartographer titles in GW1, I did every map at least twice on different characters (I also did Survivor twice and I’m working on my second LDoA, yes I’m weird). But even I think it’s so much better in GW2. In the first game the best you could hope for was an NPC in an out of the way place giving a quest or some cool scenery. In GW2 you get that (replace quest with event) but you also get vistas and jumping puzzles and mini-dungeons and random fun/interesting NPC dialogue. The GW1 world just seems so flat and empty by comparison.

Going back to GW1, especially after a long break, is always weird for me. It reminds me why I love it and played it so much over several years, but it also reminds me why I’ve spent so much more time on GW2 since it came out.
