What brings you down about gw2?
I hate having a game that offers build diversity but yet makes it cumbersome to do so. Take traits, resetting them by finding an npc in a town and paying for it. I’d rather it be free and on the fly as long as your not in combat. I think new mmo adopting these steps would go along way. Some things mmo’s do just seem outdated.
It would be so nice if ascended gear had the drop down menu to change its stats. Nobody wants to have a few armor sets taking up inventory because they need a tanky wvwvw build and beserker pve build or whatever style.
I wish Runes and sigils would be discoverable like dyes. In a way the would be unlock for your character. Then be able to select them and equip them unlimited times. This would make using more builds viable.
I’d clike to have a different menu or something to be able to switch weapons (out of combat) without needing to look in my inventory or hero panel it blocks a lot of the screen just to find weapons. Premade weapon sets by selecting them on the UI would be ideal.
Due away with repairing armor, it just seems silly to me.
Things I find weird when I first played gw2 is how every class can use ranged weapons or melee weapons. No trinity style play but trinity armor light/medium/heavy.
(edited by Trinnitty.8256)
Not playing anymore. I want more dungeons.
I want play more dungeons but looks like people playing GW2 just for making most fancy looking character and posing in LA. Bullkitten!
And what we get? story extensions with stupid minions salles.
no two factions so that means no bad guys fighting good guys.spvp you fight with your team to then get auto to the other team makes spvp bluh.dont need mounts but they are fun but dont want flying ones, open world duels for those who want to and a turn off check bock for those who dont want to.legendary weapons should not be craftable but earned by doing the unatainable.wvw (cough) i mean zerg vs zerg should be removed from game it is so bad.targetng needs improvments.low level areas should only drop low level gear including bosses to get the higher level players to go out into the other areas.gear grind needs tuned down some.they need to stop nerfing the thief and tell players to learn how to fight themSTOP THE LIVING STORY STUFF RIGHT NOW!!!
im so sick of it.stop the temp stuff give us new skills and maybe new race are class and new areas.
lol, we dont need new skills or classes if anet cant even get the ones we have already working correctly
The lack of guild instances to keep out the griefers (teq / worms).
edit: oups, read the title and understood the contrary .. I blame insomnia.
(edited by Xia.3485)
1. bad dungeons (boring bosses, too short, too many exploits, too many bugs, too old ffs)
2. Scarlet and everything that has something to do with her cliche and boring story line
3. insane RNG
4. too many class bugs (ranger pet… rly?)
5. zerker meta in PvE (yea I can go soldier/cleric and not as well be in the dungeon since my DPS is meaningless and nobody would even notice if I went AFK).
6. zerg open world content…. whole personal story is you you you you are the hero you this you that you help saving the world you you you. Once you get into open world… you are just one of the 150+ Joes dps-ing some random wurm disturbed by Anet version of Rita Repulsa from Power Rangers for whatever meh reason devs can imagine.
woot they even resemble each other visually

Haha Rita Repulsa is spot on!
haha, true brahmincorle +1

Lol!
What’s funny is I still remember how awesome the Scarlet’s Invasion LS was, calling up my mate like “Get online, there’s an invasion!”, zerging around the map from champ to champ. That was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in this game. Back then everyone loved her (well, the loot anyway).
You know what really grinds my gears?
The attitude of the champ train in Queensdale.
I hang around in Queensdale sometimes to assist new players. And I cannot believe how many people get flamed at for starting a pre-event (like the boar or the troll) or attacking a champion.
I lot of these people just started a new game and are minding their own business, trying to experience something new. And that new thing is getting flamed at or seeing others get flamed at in the map chat. In a map that is destined to learn new players their ways, these new players have to follow orders from others not do an event or attack something they want because of a zerg that’s running it. With the penalty of a long shaming and ‘noobing’ situation.
Do not misunderstand me, people can have their champ train I really don’t mind. But take new players (and other players in general) into consideration when you perform a champ train in a ‘starting area’.
The other thing that bothers me:
Dungeon levels. It has come to a fact that you need to be level 80 to be able to join a group or you get kicked instantly (do you have level 80? – no? – Kick) You rarely find a nice group for (for example) Ascalonian Catacombs with people who accept you at the required level. Perhaps if you have some friends or a guild you can go with….
I understand the pro’s of being level 80 all too well. And I realize getting a full level 35 group trough AC exp can (and probably will) be a pain in the bottoms. That’s why this bothers me so much in the first place..
(I don’t mind hardcore linkyourgear-groups, everyone has his/her own playstyle, I’ts just not mine so I do not join those groups
So much this. I generally find the champ train a little distasteful, but kitten if I won’t use it myself. I realize there’s no controlling the zerg with a “wait up” prompt (go fast or go home, kiddos), but trying to pry the location out of a champ train or the path is like pulling your own teeth, if you’re new to it. It’s at least helpful to have a commander put his flag up.
But yes, I’ve seen a lot of toxic, hostile people on champ trains and the more elaborate world boss fights. Which is why I put Map Chat on a completely separate tab.

To highlight a few gripes not seen here yet:
1. Armor designs. Usually a relatively minor gripe, but seriously folks, give the Charr places for their tails. And pants. Four-pawed things will trip on robes and the like.
2. Speaking of trips, knockdowns, and assorted stuns… ANet, please, PLEASE, tone down your inane love of NPCs with hideous crowd control skills. In PvP, it’s generally okay, usually no more than 2 seconds (which is scary enough!).
But there are things out there with 3-5 second stuns/KDs on rather short cooldowns that exceed what we can normally manage with stun breakers. And now, as proof of not listening to good design decisions, the Aetherblade Elementalists in Edge of the Mists have a high damage daze-spam attack? I don’t even have words for this, only rage.

What brings me down about GW2? Monetization madness
No mounts
Poor loot drops for long hours on some of the events (notably : Teq dragon, giant wurms)
Ascended gear drops that are useless to your character class and cant be sold on tp
Lack of raids
Ranger class need some serious fixing, (spend a day with wurm hunting guilds and get slammed for 2hrs regarding how much of a joke your class is)
Ranger pets that wont stay put away
(edited by Adacian.9752)
That I got so hyped up before release, then quit within a month due to disappointment.
That I waited a year to start playing again and realized the game is somewhat fun.
My complaints are:
Dredge fractal
Karma nerf ( well the whole nerf everything rewarding attitude with no explanation or reason) but specially the karma one.
The current state of silk for bolts of damask thing. Way too much needed.
Fractal skin drop rates which are almost non-existent
Dredge fractal ( had to include twice since I hate it so much)
1. Most people in this world live on laptops which gw2 eats apart
2. Personal Story gets boring
3. Leveling gets even more boring seeing how you got so many 80 toons
4. Dungeons are a snooze
5. RNG
6. Spvp needs more different match styles. i.e team deathmatch/capture flag
7. Skins are expensive as hell unless your just lucky. no skill or time.
8. No guild halls
9. No GVG
10. Classes arent really balanced (rangers wars mesmers)
11. Skins are horrible on some classes compared to another
12. Living story can be a drag i.e Scarlet…(what happened to dragons thats on every gw2 logo?)
13. Everything thats pve is related in WvW or sPvP somehow.
14. AP chests really arent that rewarding for how much time and money you already put in the game. Plus AP in general seems pve revolved.
15. Crafting is a gold sink and hassle
16. Ascended armor is a gold sink and hassle lol (much like fracs high level)
Im going to add more to the list as i think of it. Or as i see other people complain lol
Downed-State.
The feature I despise most in GW2.
Honestly reading these forums brings me the most down. Its why ppl are out right abandoning them. The game it self not that much brings me down i find my fun when i want to and can and i do not get huge up on parts that i do not like.
You are right they’d be smarter to abandon the game instead, i’ve had far more enjoyable mmo experiences since i did, wake up people.
The community really brings me down more often than anything else. Random tomfoolery disrupting things to “this game sucks” all over the place, to “kill your ranger and roll a warrior lol”.
Honestly, this is the top thing which makes me want to not log in on any given day.
1. The emphasis on platform jumping. I’m not good at it and don’t enjoy it but I need to do it to complete maps(which I love doing) and during fractals.
2. The ppl you meet who say they love platform jumping and would quit if it was removed.
I don’t know about you guys but Guild Wars 2 was the best $60.00 purchase I have ever spent on. There is so much content: Player vs Environment, Structured Player vs Player, World vs World, so much free every other week Living World content that is probably worth an expansion if combined all, rich lore since Guild Wars 1, and most importantly game developers who listen to their community unlike other MMO’s where you rarely see devs in game or forums. And all that with no kittening monthly subscription!
Let’s see, everywhere I go it’s:
Mindless zerging (queensdale, wvw, frostgorge).
Run into a massive zerg in wvw, die, repair armor, repeat 15 times, waste 15 silver on repairs. GET RID OF ARMOR REPAIRS ITS STUPID AND SERVES NO PURPOSE!!
Horrible RNG in PVE… required to get 100 ascended rings and upgrade them so you don’t get flattened in high level fractals. Nobody to save your life if you all should go down in a fractal / dungeon.
my veilbot duty on my mesmer in wvw brings me down a lot. cant wait for my guildleader to allow me to play my necro.
also lack of new maps in wvw, stale matchups, class imbalance in wvw, unnecessary nerfs/overbuffs
[AVTR]
Isle of Kickaspenwood
The fact that there is no hard content which doesn’t require a server zerg to do. Liadri was the one achievement I did that I felt proud of. Just my Mesmer and Liadri, 1v1, no zerg, no gimmicks, nothing. Just skill. Then after, and before, it’s just ‘zerg this, then this, then this, meta done gz gg go back to farming pve.’
The Wurms? Standing around a map for 2-3 hours to get into the correct server which might be a complete waste of time because I might DC in between the battle and lose my spot/credit for it? Nope, not for me thanks, I’d rather go play BF4 or Rome 2.
Another thing that bothers me is how every new weapon/armor skin is just Gem store. Ascended armor is the only armor I might try to go for but it’s so ridiculously expensive I don’t think I’ll even bother because it’s just grinding for the sake of better stats so I can do what, grind more with ascended armor? It’s a load of crap.
Crafting to get BIS ascended gear, and then arena net rolls out another “balance” patch that can potentially ruin your build/class.
1 – lack of real build diversity, always the sames and sames and sames weapons skills.. quite boring after a while.
2 – Many bad balance condi – boons – random interrupt, this game is nearly only kill fast and no need to really think.
3 – Anet dont look to care that much about class balance, improove them.. they offer really few things that really improove the gameplay
4 – farm stuff.
5 – farm stuff.
6 – farm stuff.
7 – farm stuff.
8 – farm stuff.
9 – farm stuff.
10 – farm stuff.
and.. let me see.. farm stuff !
Builds are really too much dependent on stat, and stuff are more or less long, boring, and not really cheap to get.
So you can easly need 4-5 differents set of different stat, or serveral time the same stat becauce of different runes or sigil.
No speaking about ascended stuff….
you spend nearly all you gaming time running after the stuff instead of really enjoying your class and “all” his possibilities
Not fun.

- Ranger’s """"Balance""""
- AI of PacMan
- Lack of Depth in final design release. Concepts were abandoned.
- Grind or be Grinded
- Clone Wars 2
- RNG 4 Life
- Diminishing Returns (?!?!!!!)
- Even more Laggs & DCs since “patched”
- Lot of Cheaters (& no report for hacks?)
- BLTP has been seriously manipulated, eMaffia sitting on gold & keeping prices Up.
- No Guild Hall or House management (not like this were a true priority in current state)
- Lack of daily good stories
- Low GPU useage, relies on CPU, still its ~20% but FPS drops. What?!
- Graphics have nasty flaws & no ultra settings. But look good technically. I miss bumpmaps.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
ugly class balancing.
1. lack of progression
2. very poor end game quality to motivate me
3. balancing issues
RNG in the cash shop items. :U
one word, overflows
Rangers and engineers are pretty much useless in dungeons and fractals, unless you wanna spam grenades all day long. Yawn.
The combat system. It’s horrible.
All the skills seem as though they were designed as cool animations and given damage numbers without much forethought of how they would actually fit into the game. This is why combat looks like such cluster-mishap.
The skills. They’re incredibly boring.
Counter shot and blocking? Those are supposed to be a developer’s joke, right?
Anet should really consider hiring seasoned developers with a couple decades of game-design under their belts. I know hiring Millennials at sub rates is cost-effective but it’s hurting what would otherwise be a totally awesome game.
that the developers seem intent on monetizing the life out of the game while repeating mistakes fixed the better part of a decade ago in other games.
The fact that NCSoft is tied in any way, shape or form to this game.
The fact that NCSoft is tied in any way, shape or form to this game.
Might as well be EA sports.
Another thing I don’t like is that every dungeon / Fractal you do, is a game of russian roulette. You don’t know what fractal you’re gonna get, who your team mates are going to be. If there isn’t a “backbone” player then you are screwed.
The fact that NCSoft is tied in any way, shape or form to this game.
GW1 is and has been tied to them as well and I find it 10X better than GW2, so, I don’t really think that is the problem, or, have they decided to turn GW2 into a gambling MMORPG.

CRAFTING TO 500 ARGGGGG
IM SO GLAD I FOUND A RAG FROM A VETERAN SNOW TROLL BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE 3000000000000000000000000000000% MAGIC FIND
Well…let’s start of with the grinding for stuff. For a guy who don’t spend about 3-4h per day playing/farming, I got no change of getting some pretty looking stuff within days/weeks. I have been “farming” since release and still haven’t got any remarkable gear or weapons. And the second thing is that looks of everything seems so pre-mmorpgs. Start thinking about slic designs and more interesting “stuff”. The arkwork is gorgeus but the ingame product sucks….More details please! Just look at Aions good sample for the new patch 4.0. It’s not a sin to actually look at others art and implent it to your own in a speciell way.
What brings me down most is that the game was released to start with.
ANET’s prerelease hype, “we’re going to get away from grind” (GW/grind). Now we have ascended armor / FOTM GRIND. What a prerelease con. A bit hypocritical It would seem.

Yeah, they really did go for the “no gear treadmill / no grind” hype. I can understand why they skewed away from it, and they’ve only added one gear step, but that gear step is a hideous, obvious grind intended more for controlling the economy instead of making a player feel accomplished or giving a variety of things to do.

Yup, one tier which entails one tediously horrifying grind. Much prefer the WoW model where I spend 5-10 hrs a week doing some REAL content like raids and get geared in a month or two.
1. Personal story is not engaging at all. Is so boring that in fact I haven’t finished it
2. Is very annoying that I was promised a living world that my choices have impact and instead I got events that reset every hour and they no more different than traditional questsIf you have played this game long enough, then you’ll now this happened once.
The name was “The Lost Shore” and it was a once and once only event. Karkas attacked L.A and brought chaos into it, to extend of even destroying the light house which can still be seen that way.The problem with this approach is the problem we have with every approach in this game: Way, way too much QQing.
The moment some people were busy and couldn’t play out the event, madness went rampant. Just because they missed it. Even when it was announced weeks before. (Aside from some several technical problems which I deduce Anet have resolved ever since.)
So yeah. You want real events? Then don’t come crying here when you get homework and can’t play them.
Also have in mind that this is a MMO, so you can only make so many decisitions to affect the world.
On a different note, what I hate is not room-based minigames.
If the end chest didn’t spew precursors for some, and didn’t open at all for others, there would have been much less QQ.

Anything from ANet these days seems to be high on hype/marketing. And that is what brings out the negative snark in me, to try to mentally counterbalance it all.
The biggest thing for me is the fact the build for my main hasn’t changed for the entire game. Every balance pass does nothing substantial enough to make changing his build worthwhile, let alone changing professions worthwhile.
The game content updates all the time, but the GAMEPLAY is so stale for me it hurts.
