Necromancers definitely take advantage of all the stats well. Staff and Wells drop down a lot of condition and power-based damage. They need the defensive stats because they lack good escape mechanisms (most classes have some kind of mobility even when they’re downed). They even have quite a bit of healing because of Healing Well, Blood Mark, and traits.

Why do people keep using the argument that zerker gear users aren’t interested in having fun? Don’t you understand that some people get enjoyment out of seeing massive damage numbers?

But no, bad gear is apparently “more fun” and has “more flair”. You guys just … baffle me.

Different gear does not equate to bad. A player is more than the gear they wear and the weapon they use, in all honestly.

I have no issue with people choosing to run all zerker armor. If that is how they enjoy playing, cool. You’re very correct that some people do enjoy just power housing through the game play, that’s fine. I take issue when people come along and tell me that by using something else I must be bad, or stupid. Quite frankly, I am neither. I am simply different. I enjoy playing a different way, with a different set up.

I accept how others play (don’t always necessarily agree), but I resent when people are intolerant of how I (and others play) and try forcing their ‘our way or no way’ on us when we aren’t even playing with you. You do you thing, I’ll do mine. I have no desire to run speed clears…..ever.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

IMO builds (gear, traits etc) are best when they fit YOUR playstyle. When they bring the best out of it.

If your playstyle is “kill them before they kill you” then zerker gear is great. If it isn’t – and there are many more playstyles – then it isn’t.

Suggesting that someone is bad because they don’t copy you and your choices is extremely childish and ill-informed.

Maybe celestial gear is a prelude to build saving and swapping.
If saving builds and swapping them out of combat is introduced then players who like to change roles throughout an area will probably benefit from celestial gear the most.

The alternative playstyle — “don’t kill them before they kill you” — doesn’t seem very desirable. I’m just teasing, btw.

I don’t care enough to go around and make people feel bad, but have you considered that:

1) For any given playstyle, there are more optimal choices and less optimal choices (e.g. if the goal is to maximize damage, then a certain stat choice would be best, and if the goal is to provide healing, then a different stat choice would be best, etc.); and

2) Not everyone is knowledgeable of all the formulas, coefficients and timings,

Clearly, some people just don’t want anyone else’s advice, which is perfectly fine, but, for instance, just because I come up with a build I like doesn’t mean it is perfect. If someone else tells me I would be better off using something else, I might agree or disagree, but I would back up my opinion with actual math. If I overlooked something, I sure as hell would want to know. So while I do understand and agree that opinions should not be forced on others when they’re not desired, I have to disagree with the notion that builds are by default “best” and perfectly optimized to each person’s playstyle. They can be if you’ve done the calculations, but they can also be suboptimal (especially if no calculations were done).

I like to mess around with different builds even when I know a particular one is more optimal, but at the same time, I have been on casual runs where the builds in the group were so lacking that the boss fight was much harder than it had to be (e.g. one CoF 1 group took a good 15 minutes on the final boss, and another was unable to dodge or kill Lupicus’ grubs at all). As much as people like to think their way is best, sometimes it really isn’t.

It would be interesting to removing the soul binding from them and leave them as account bound only. Then it could be a flexible set that could be given to any fresh 80 alt until they had something better.

The Berserker way are for people who know what they are doing, (I do not mean non Berserker people do not know what they are doing) they have learned the encounters and they can dodge when the time is right.

That is why we get so many groups with people dying and wiping all the time, because there are players who go the full Berserker way without knowing when to dodge, and how the encounters work, they just go Berserker because they have heard it’s the best, which it isn’t, and then we have them whining on the forums how everything is hard because they can’t advance somewhere.

That is why, the Berserker way are for people who know what they can do, and what they can’t do. They know they have to kill enemies swift, otherwise they will take to much damage and get downed.

I myself are a Healway Guardian. I usually roam WvW alone, looking for 1vs1 fights, and often end up 1vs3. I got so much healing power that I regenerate faster than what opponents can damage me, they either have to stay and die, or retreat, or wait for more friends to come.
