Just your opinion, and I hope this is in the right place to post this, what is the top class(es) for the +all stats armor that is coming out with +all stats trinkets and runes of divinity?

If you was going to make a +all stats fully geared character what one would you pick and why?

None.

If you are in PVE, go full zerker. If you are in WVW and zerging alot, you use PVT. PVP, well you can use literally any gear as long as it is focused around a certain purpose (tanking, burst, support, etc.)

Celestial is a complete waste of time, and divinity runes are pretty much junk.

It can’t really be a Build that relies on Minions/Turrets/Clones.
And It can’t be a class that relies on Spike damage from the Shadows/Distance.

I’m guessing that really only leaves Guar/War/Ele :\

And even then, the actual pay-off is no where near their current market value…
They’re basically a crutch for lazy folks who can’t be arsed to switch into a second armor-set when they need to change specialties. And financially, it’s more cost effective to do that anyway even if you have to buy another bag slot just to do it…

Ele since they use pretty much every stat. Even then I just can’t bring myself to use any gear with healing power on it since the stat scales so very, very poorly.

Celestial is mediocre, but Divinity Runes are excellent.

Regardless, any of them fit an Elementalist very well. I suppose they work great on Guardians too.

Guardians and eles always have access to condition damage, they have plenty of access to extra healing which makes the toughness + healing combo good, they have low HP pool which makes extra points in vitality more meaningful, and they have decent access to extra critical chance from other sources (fury, traits, etc) to make great use of the gear’s critical damage.

The guardians indeed can make use of all stats in one build, but usually any build you could make would benefit far more from speccing into 3-4 stats. You don’t want to be average at everything. It’s much more beneficial to be good at few things.

For any class celestial gear is a step down from other options. That saying, eles and guardians would likely be able to make most use of it. Just not enough to make it worthwhile.

Please don’t use Celestial stats in any format. They make baby Jesus sad.

Ruby Orbs offer the same % critical damage with more focused DPS stats elsewhere. They are better for DPS builds. Furthermore, as far as runes go, Scholar runes are better than Ruby Orbs / Divinity Runes so long as you are above 90% HP for at least 25% of the time in combat (easy as a good player in both PvE and WvW). If that is the case, then Scholar is the best possible DPS option of all three, totally irrelevant of the fact that they give less critical damage than the other options.

I cannot stress this enough, and I truly mean no offense when I say it, but Divinity Runes are for bad players who can’t make up their mind on what they want and/or are unwilling to change armor sets to adjust for a situation.

Celestrial (yes, that’s how it’s spelled) gear doesn’t really have a niche per say. In all of my experience in hardcore WvW/PvP guilds I’ve only come across one group who uses said gear, and those are elementalists. They don’t use it for a purpose, they use it to make the game more challenging because PVT bunkering is too easy, and most people use it as a crutch.

Celestial is not something you go full for, but just some pieces. Celestial is something you go for if you know what you are doing with your attributes, like if you want to balance some stats out instead of going full damage, healing, toughness, vitality etc. etc.

Celestrial (yes, that’s how it’s spelled)

I can’t see any spelling anywhere like that, nor on Google, or on Guild Wars 2 Wiki. You sure that is what the new armour stat is named?

I’d wager elementalist getting the most effective use out of it, not really sure for any other classes, even the guardian as some stated wouldn’t maximise the use out of the all stats combo.

Like Farzo said, you gear for certain celestial pieces, not really all in – though it would be interesting to see how builds will play out if any emerge that consider using a lot more pieces of this combo.

I Do Min/Max I have a P/T/V and P/T/H armor /stats for my High level fotm Guardian (30+) I go either full zerk or full bunker/condition on my thief, full zerk warrior (no need for bunker/support thats what my guardian is for). My mesmer is P/Pre/Tou for phantasms.

But with the new armor and now we can “can” go full +all stats either GW or the community really wants us to use it.. haha and sense I never thought about it before and thought no need for it, I never theorycraft the build before.

With that said I would like to have 1 class and 1 armor set full +all stats just for pve meta events and general fun play, And I know +all stats arnt good for guardian so that means I’ll go d/d ele.

Works just fine on my engineer. Gives me a good balance between DPS and survivability. Furhtermore, since i use all stats, and get a premium for celestial, I sure feel better wearing celestial than PVT for example.

It gives the added benefit of not having to switch builds all the time.

Pistol shield, merely because I like the shield control so much. Given I often go into dungeons with elixir gun and healing turret, the +healing isn’t wasted either. I literally use every stat on celestial. Even the little MF counts in the long run.
Honestly, I’d much rather have +20 spread than +15 minmax. It’s more fun, more flexible and less annoying. The zerker elitists I couldn’t care less about.

hmmm, I still will give it a try, but I think it will be with my ele, I understand what your saying and why and I fully understand why players dont like it too.

I love min/max build mostly b.c they are VERY effective, to be able to deal 15k crit hits (both warrior and thief, yes warriors can do that in WvW) that is just an amazing feeling that your being useful and can do something, or funning a level 48 fotm with full P/T/V gear and actually living threw multi hits.

You can clearly see the builds working, with +all stats you still see yourself taking damage but dont see your damage output at high ends to win a fight.

Even with all that I want to still try it.

depends on if you have a build that can make use of most of the stats; balanced builds, hybrids and classes with a use for the healing power, for example.
but even in a balanced build, you want to get one or two stats relatively high, which isnt possible with too much celestial.
so i dont recommend getting a full celestial armor, but having a couple of celestial pieces or divinity runes are awesome in the right build.

btw, is there even already information about how high the celestial armor-stats are?

I don’t understand what is so taxing about getting one, maybe two specialised armour sets (full berserker and … something else) and then just swapping depending on the situation. You’re not choosing to be bad, it’s just laziness since it takes like 3 seconds to swap all your gear.

I’d say really depends on the person playing and their build, etc.

I could see switching in some pieces with other gear, but full on gear I don’t see it as a good choice. I even more so see it as a poor choice to stack celestial gear, with divinity runes, and then celestial trinkets. I think you’d be a little subpar at best (and this is coming from a person who thinks celestial is not an entirely bad stat set up, I think the accessories work great mixed in with my gear and set up).

Of course this is all without doing the math and actually seeing how much it would affect a character. Will be interesting to see in the future how it plays out though. It might not be so bad as it seems. lol.

As for class, I’d just reiterate as everyone else Ele is probably most proficient, with Guardian and Engi coming in after that. Heck, I’ve ever seen some ranger builds claim they work well, I know nothing about that though.

Depends on your definition of lazy. I’d much rather have fun doing the content I want to do, than farm out another set because I changed my build. Celestial allows me to not worry about my stats anymore. Is that laziness? Maybe. Lack of care may be a better term.

The amount of zerker elitist sheep in this thread is staggering, some people actually play games, especially RPGs, to have fun and do what THEY want, not what everyone else does…so just because they don’t use the same stat as you doesn’t make it trash or garbage.

It’s these elitist attitudes that are ruining MMOs by making everyone do what everyone else does since no one seems to think for themself anymore, rendering the point of it being an RPG pointless, might as well make it one of those korean free to play MMO’s where everyone has the same skills and uses the same armor.

Fun is relative. Some people have fun by running around naked in town. Some have fun by min-maxing. We’re not talking about what’s fun, we’re talking about what’s effective. In PvE there’s no reason to use anything except full berserker gear. Can you? Yes. By all means. Make a full condition damage guardian for PvE if that’s how you get your jollies. Make a full soldier’s one even. Is it effective? No. It’s trash.

In the same manner, anyone can use celestial gear. But if you’re not using a D/D elementalist you’re crippling yourself. Even for a D/D elementalist this is only true for PvP. In PvE it’s full berserker, “as usual”. In PvP, D/D ele is the only spec that makes good use of all the stats celestial offers. That’s the point of celestial gear. It offers you more stats overall, but less of each, so you get a net benefit if you use all of them. However most characters and builds don’t benefit from a great deal of those, crippling themselves on the stats they do need for no reason.

Coming from a player with a Guardian as a main (well and a thief) And after playing with Zerk, Knights, Valk etc… (full exotics too btw) I find Im not very useful at all, Knights is fine for leveling/solo pve or easier dungeons for a fast run, like SE, hotw, Cof or even TA. But when I made the change to P/T/H and/or P/T/V with runes +% to boons (for fotm) and a armor set for Soldier runes (for dunegon like TA with lots of conditions) I play 1000x better and I could Never go back. There is no need for a Zerk guardian. Then you’re doing it wrong. Plain and simple.

Only reason to not use full zerker as a guardian in PvE is in VERY specific circumstances where you’re going cleric’s instead, for AoE healing. But for the most part you’d be better off with zerker as well.

This has nothing to do with how you feel about it. You might prefer the style associated with tanking or healing. As far as effectiveness go, full zerker is the right answer.

Not everyone is GOD at playing every class like you are, most players arnt perfect like you are and take damage and hits, When I do arah I love my guardian and I love my thief, they are bunker builds, if it wasnt for those builds alot of the times we wouldnt have beaten arah.

How many high level fotm you see are full zerk parties? hmm I seen none, they all have some type of toughness or Vit with them yes a warrior or 2 with zerk is normal but guardians or that other warrior, normally not.

Show me a video of Full 5 man zerk teams (with different classes) doing, AC, CM, TA, Arah and 30+ fotm… then I might change my mind to ZERK IS GOD.

Meh, none of this is really relevant in other areas of the game. I don’t, for instance, think having all celestial armour matters in open world PvE or in most aspects of WvW. Sure, in dungeons and fractals you want different stuff (some don’t, up to you). But that doesn’t make celestial armour a complete waste of time. It makes it a waste of time FOR YOU.

Anyway, if you like the look of it and you want it, wear it. That’s all I have to say. Or transmute the look over to your zerker gear or whatever. Generally, the debate in here is all about dungeons only … but if you look at the matter more widely then other points of view might begin to have more relevance – or the armour less relevance, whichever way you look at it.

If I like how it looks and what the stats do then I’ll be happy to run round open world PvE in full celestial gear and just have fun enjoying a little boost to all my stats. min/maxing isn’t how everyone likes to play.

@colesy – Oh and terms like “crippled”, “trash”, “useless” etc are all far too much of an over-reaction. You’re not looking for fun. You’re looking for a power rush.

Engineer. Many, if not all, of the kits/weapons can make use of all of the offensive stats. For multi-kit users this would be a very viable option as it will allow players to use their skills a lot more effectively, though they run the risk of spreading out thinly. I’m not saying that this is going to make a god-min/max-build for engis, but it’ll allow for players who want to bring a more ‘colorful’ myriad of skills, with the assurance that their stats will be complimenting it.

The pistol for example, primarily used for condition damage when min/maxed is devastating, but it does have potential for different uses. Poison Dart Volley hits like a truck if all the hits land and scales excellently with power, that’s why when crits land when using rabid, they really hurt. Along with using powerful traits that proc-on-crit having a bit of precision can make the pistol a beast of all-trades.

From the defensive side: Engis do not have inherent defensive mechanics, such as stealth, clones, shroud, etc. so a vast majority of engis rely on skill/utilities and numerical stats to make up for it. So having a little bit of everything, makes setting up defense on an engi a lot less easier especially when considering how well some of the defensive trait lines synergize with certain skills.

An example of a potential build could be using p/s, while using bomb kit and/or elixir gun with elixir-infused bombs trait. Not only is some of the healing power and possibly toughness getting converted into extra power, but the player will also have access to a lit bit of extra damage from conditions and even have a higher chance to crit!

It’s all theorycrafting, but as I’ve been playing engi, they can bring a lot to the table without sacrificing many slot, but are held back from lack of stat distribution, so a celestial set is certainly welcome, from my view.

Elementalist, guardian partly.
Because both classes have access to condition damage along with their other power skills, plus a lot of healing and bunker potential.

lol, “zerker elitists”. Us “zerker elitists” just want to be efficient and for people to actually contribute their fair share to dungeons. You know, since it’s a party effort?

You are making two flawed assumptions:

  • That we are talking about dungeons. Without that assumption, your statement about “contribute their fair share to dungeons” is worthless.
  • That even those who are going to play dungeons are going to do it with you. I think the likehood of that is very small, considering your posts.

Ergo, if players use Celestial gear or not doesn’t really matter to you.

The way I see it is, if it cant do some of the Harder content in the game with a nice success rate (that also depends on the player and skillfull they are with that class) then it isnt worth it, thats why I say dungeons alot. a dungeon compare to a pve area are completely different difficulty levels and you even HAVE to use other players to win.

For meta farming dragon to dragon, I dont think it matters if your in all white gear, it will die and it will die fast… well besides Jormag lol.

The question is still, Is there a Viable class that can use +all stats armor/gear with a success rate? Not that it has to be the 100% best build but can it hold its own?

Actually they’re not overreactions, gear that contributes barely anything is trash. A ranger in a dungeon is useless and might as well be an empty slot.

I already told you that I have fun in this game and how I have that fun, don’t assume that I don’t care about entertainment.

Elementalist, guardian partly.

No.

You are making two flawed assumptions:

Regarding open world PVE, any trash gear works. Stack magic find if you’re farming open world.

That even those who are going to play dungeons are going to do it with you. I think the likehood of that is very small, considering your posts.

And yet I find it very easy to get dungeon parties, and zerker players are just thinking what I think, they just can’t be bothered to go over the same points over and over again.

Ergo, if players use Celestial gear or not doesn’t really matter to you.

It doesn’t affect me, but I hope for their sake that they don’t end up wasting laurels or gold (or whatever other currencies) on celestial gear when it’s actually not that good.

They’ll all be viable – but viable is a loose term. Just because nobody’s worked out a build for this yet doesn’t mean they won’t. Depends on the kind of play you want as well.

Professions in GW2 are specifically designed so they can be specced into any attribute you want. Yes, some builds are less effective than others, but no less viable. They’ll still work. If you want to farm an area then they’ll all be viable. If you want to speed run a dungeon, less so, clearly.

I think most professions will “hold their own”. You can still spec out fully down one or two trait lines and receive a nice little boost to your other stats. No, you won’t put out the raw DPS of a full zerker build, but you will most certainly “hold your own”. It’s not ALL about the armour.

The dominance of zerker gear is not the fault of the players, but of this game’s balance and design. It’s a direct consequence of GW2’s innovative “party-roles-shouldn’t-matter” battle design.

This sadly is the truth. If you do not have specific healer, tank or DD roles, all that’s left is “everybody hits the mobs and tries to stay alive”. And that means doing as much damage as possible, thereby reducing the time you have to “try to stay alive” against the cheesy one-hit kill skills. Of course the different classes bring different skills, which is why people want a guardian or mesmer in the group. But when in doubt if you should go more damage or more support for your character, it is probably better to go for more damage.

I haven’t played Guardian enough to say aye or nay on that, but I definitely support ele. You have conditions in just the normal skills, you have healing in the water line. The additional health and toughness are always helpful on a squishy, especially if you don’t always play with people in pve.

I probably wouldn’t do ‘full celestial’ when we have that option, but I’d probably use it on a few pieces for the overall ‘rounding out’ of my ele.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

“None.

Sad that this is true. Wish it wasn’t.
