Guide: How to play a Mesmer in dungeons.
I’d be a Guardian, because I would like to heal/cure people and whatnot. How about you? I’d imagine being able to rain down fireballs would be pretty kitten, if perhaps somewhat limited in application.
i think you need medical attention
I want to be an elementalist and be able to use the elements.
100% Ranger, I mean you just don’t mess with a guy that has a Grizzly bear or Wolf at his side. Plus being a master archer and survivalist means you’re really hard to chase or kill.
Since I’m not sadistic, I would probably pick up a ranged class with good resources to avoid being hit and good scape mechanisms.
Pistol Thief, Mesmer or Scepter/Dagger ele could be great choices :P
Warriors already exist, though they would use guns in our time.
Guardians, similar to Warriors, would use guns in our time.
Necros would be jailed / killed as it would be highly illegal.
Rangers essentially already exist.
Engineers essentially already exist.
Thieves essentially already exist.
All classes in real life can heal since we have antibiotics.
That leaves the Mesmer and Elementalist. Both use magic that doesn’t exist here, so I would think they would be the two best choices.
I’d go with Elementalist since we could generate our own electricity, start our own fires for heat / cooking, use the water to never be thirsty, and manipulate the earth to landscape.

You’re definitely right about some things, but the sort of healing Guardians can do is pretty much magic. Plus, I don’t think people can turn invisible like Thieves can.
Nevertheless, the thought of raising dead stuff (i.e. necro) is certainly thrilling.
Elementalist for sure.
Although I wouldn’t say no to Guardian just to stand there, yell “You shall not pass!” and they really wouldn’t be able to pass.
Paragon, so I could perform that gay dance all day long in public to make money
definitely an engineer here IRL I’ve always been the type to tinker. I used to take apart everything in the house (cept the microwave and television cause I’d get in trouble) and then put it back together again. In high school and college I’d make my own devices with parts from Radio Shack.
i’d be a thief so i could steal stuff.
(hey at least i’m honest)
Ele, I would kill you all…………. As long as I could be an Asura to look cool?
Ele, I would kill you all
you’d just get shot by law enforcement or worse, be taken to a lab and experimented upon.
Guardian just to stand there, yell “You shall not pass!” and they really wouldn’t be able to pass.
bump!
I’d choose thief though. Being hidden in plain sight and teleportation is just too good to pass up.
I’d be a norn elementalist and drink ale all day long, when I’m not drinking ale I’d be outside hunting deers and boar, FREE MEAT IT’S ALL YOU NEED! After my meal..I’d go back to drink ale
Ranger. I’d get my Katniss on with my big cat.
Engineer… that’s what i’m doing in college lol
Engineer… that’s what i’m doing in college lol
And design a stealth detector or use thermo-missiles to blow off any stealthed enemy
I’d be a norn elementalist and drink ale all day long, when I’m not drinking ale I’d be outside hunting deers and boar, FREE MEAT IT’S ALL YOU NEED! After my meal..I’d go back to drink ale
That’s not wise. You would end up like Davron Vaul.
Davron Vaul
1254—1271AE
He learned an important lesson about fighting.
Don’t stand in water when casting lightning.
Ele, I would kill you all
you’d just get shot by law enforcement or worse, be taken to a lab and experimented upon.
Swirling Winds, Obsidian Flesh, Magnetic Aura, Arcane Shield, Mist Form should protect you while you gap-close
Probably a Mesmer, just so I can send clones to go to school for me.

What good would that do? You wouldn’t be educated.
warrior – having a shield pretty much makes capable of blocking any type of attack – Nuclear Bomb ? No Problem !
EDIT: Not to mention that if I traited correctly I’d reflect that bomb right back at them ! mwahaha
Necros would be jailed / killed as it would be highly illegal.

Whats wrong or illegal with what necros do? Taking the in game necro to our real world would have nothing illegal to it actually, since their pets are really nothing different than the organ donation we actually have. They dont go around and dig up bones at the graveyard.
And actually mesmers… they kinda also exsist, maybe not spot on as in game, but mesmers and tricksters go a long way back. They are still there on the streets or stages, either as preformers (magicians) or as hustlers. Though the hustler is more a hybrid between thief and mesmer imo. Its still about illusions and mind tricks.
But to asnwer the question. Probably a ranger. Good survival skills, killer pets, good at providing themselves with what they need. Plus as someone else said, who wants to mess with the guy who has a big grizzy or a wolf by his side. Not me atleast.
@SneakyErvin Death is sacred. Maybe not as much as in our past (ancient Egyptians), but we still bury dead animals and humans. Necromancy in most forms of fiction is regarded as a “dark art”. You actually think society would allow people to summon the dead? The smell alone would be a reason to outlaw it.
Probably a Mesmer, just so I can send clones to go to school for me.
ROFL , problem is clones have so few hit points a harsh word kills them.
Hey clone im playing GW today go to work for me
Boss yells at clone, your late “poof” clould of butterflies.
Hmm healer RL guardians out
Warrior too much like work
Ranger stuck with a wolf that mauls random strangers two blocks away then runs back to me with the police following
Thief in a world with CTV on every corner nah
Now Necro hmm, start your second life now Zombification Inc why wait for them to perfect cryogenesis pets a specialty. live in New Orleans and no one would notice plus all the Cajun food you can eat
Mesmer for the lulz. You could just troll people so hard with the powers a mesmer has.
Clones, mind control, “Hey, stop hitting yourself”, purple butterflies, teleporting, etc…
Mesmer. Mind control and cloning would be pretty awesome.
Pretty sure an elementalist would be considered a weapon of mass destruction.
NPC, merchant, with a “job” in Divinity’s Reach, far away from the fighting. :O
Mesmers do exist…they’re called politicians….
Thief. Who doesn’t want to be invisible 24/7.
Mesmer – I could manipulate people’s minds without having to learn oratory!
The passive heal and condition removal on guardian would be nice to have.
Warrior for sure.
I sit on railways, train is about to hit me, Endure Pain, train-in-face deals 0 damage.
Then detarget, Rush, WA, Savage leap, Bull’s charge away like a boss.
mesmer of course, kinda tired of living my life without any teleportation skill already.
also clones are useful to clean house (but should i target someone to create clones in real life too?)
This thread is full of win.
Anyway, I’d be an elementalist. If we allow people to reach Demi-god tier in their chosen profession then the possibilities are endless.
Elementalists – Forget fire, manipulate the air into plasma that can be used to cut through just about anything, control the weather on a global scale, terraform planets etc.
Mesmer – Mind control on a city wide scale, make complex illusions such as causing the disappearance of entire countries etc
Necromancer – Self explanatory but essentially involves controlling hundreds of thousands of minions in order to incite mass panic, new world order, etc.
This is only Demi-god tier mastery of each profession. At god tier essentially you become Grenth, Lyssa, etc.
Ranger stuck with a wolf that mauls random strangers two blocks away then runs back to me with the police following
this
I would pick Mesmer because I like swords but don’t like being restricted by even what would be considered medium armor, let alone heavy. Oh what, they have magic too? Yeah that’s cool.
Warrior for sure.

HaHa this reminds me of that bit in ‘no ordinary family’ where he was testing his powers to stop a car….can got clean run over… was so funny..!!
Mesmer for sure- their powers are perfect subterfuge and distraction- would make your life so much easier and teleport naturally
Nothing to see here move along
Mesmer for sure, teleportation and clones would just be too usefull to give up
Warriors already exist, though they would use guns in our time.

necros would be jailed/killed for using lumps of meat as puppets but mesmers, a class that literally flays your mind until you die are perfectly fine?
don’t forget that for norn and human, necromancy is a widely accepted religion, charr see the value of being able to make weapons from meat, asura just see it as something to study, and sylvari use it to understand one of the things that they realistically have no experience of.
a necro IRL could take any disease you had into themself, then use it to make themself healthier (or turn their patient’s condition into things that make the paient healthier), they have a cheap way of providing eco friendly manual labour
hell, they’d probably make the BEST doctor out of all the classes when it comes to illness, they’d have an amazing understanding of anatomy, and just think of the advancements to prosthetic limbs, they could even regrow entire body parts for you. and just having one in the room with you when undergoing surgery would mean there would be a 0% chance of contracting a post surgery infection, since they’d just absorb it.
as for me, personally, mesmer, as awesome as necros are, the ability to control minds and spacetime is too much not to :P
(edited by Calcifire.1864)
I’d be a mesmer, sending one clone to work, one to compulsory social events and keeping a phantasm around to do the daily chores.
Mesmers do exist…they’re called politicians….
No politicians forces you to vote for them.
Mesmer, to do shows for children, tales and legends by making them live in the moment tell!
Necromancer! No question about it! …just think, I will be a Flesh-carver, a Maker of things… undead chickens that jump and run around like cats without fur! …and Minions! Who doesn’t want minions, no matter how dumb they are? I could start my own “Dial – a – Minion” service!
Need something to hold up that broken table for you? Looking for a doorstop? Want to be followed by a crowd that is constantly awe-struck and dumbfounded by your awesomeness? Dial a minion today!
I’d go back in time to GW1 and be E/Me.
Mesmer without a doubt.
Engineer. That one is actually useful.
Mage classes in a world without magic aren’t. Of the rest… thieves are not exactly condoned by society (even if they can be profitable in the short term). Warriors (and magicless Guardians), as any profession centered around violence, aren’t safe.
That leaves a ranger, but i like cities, and i am not going to keep a grizzly bear in my apartment and a shark in my bathtub.
Masmer, I already mess with your head in Real life, why not do it with clones?
