I’ve read thread after thread of people asking for change in GW2, saying the game will die if they aren’t made quickly. So, I wanted to compile a list of things that the community wants to see in Guild Wars 2 this year.

Remember, this isn’t a to-do list for Anet, just what we would like to see.
From what I’ve read…

General

-Separate balancing for PvE, sPvP, WvW
-Guild Halls
-GvG
-Being able to party with friends for minigames (even just for custom servers)
-More incentive to join lower pop. servers
-In-game Leaderboards
-Ascended armor/weapons
-Being able to mass mail friends/ guildies without being supressed
-Equal reward structures and achievement structures for all game modes. (PvE, PvP,WvW)
-A build template that allows you to easily swap builds as well as equipment.
-More variations in professions and more viable builds
-More armor/weapons/skins (Charrmor meow!)
-Better Trading Post UI
-More Trading Post search options
-Fix Trading Post bugs (being unable to use)

PvE

-PvE endgame (harder dungeons, and bigger rewards for difficulty spikes)
-Guild Dungeons/Raids
-Newer Fractals
-Group finder for dungeons
-Dynamic events with actual impact on the world, and punishment for failure
-Fleshed out Home instance
-Bosses that require attention to animations, not watching cooldowns
-More dynamic boss fights (requiring movement across the map, etc)
-End of PvE culling
-More missions based on your Order choice
-More open-world mini dungeons
-More guild mission types, including large scale, complex boss fights
-Revamp of the dungeons – specifically focused on making more difficult paths (at least one) in each.
-More activities (Fishing)
-PvE dueling

sPvP

-sPvP teams separate from guilds
-Rewards for sPvP outside of the mists
-New sPvP game modes
-Official duel server game mode
-Less maps based on environmental objects and more based on player skill

WvW

-More attention to WvW bugs/hacks
-More customization for commander tags
-Better squad system for better organization
-Bigger incentive to defend keeps/ escort dolyaks
-Improved WvW maps (More variations btw borderlands, size, etc)

I’ll continue to add as people comment
Note: I will not add debatable topics, and will try to be unbiased in choosing
(For example: account wide dyes)

More depth in dynamic events where failing or winning actually makes a difference for a while and not just some lame contested wp. Also somekind of reward system for variety of events done in one day wouldn’t hurt either.

That’s progress. Hooray for progress!

World bosses that don’t just sit there letting you hit them. Why don’t they have any other attacks that you have to adapt to? Why can’t world boss spawns be random, and maybe even some of them should move around the map to ‘retreat’?

Better in-game guild menus and tools. Even something as basic as seeing when the last time your guildies have logged in or represented would be a BIG improvement.

Being able to mass email your guildies/friends list without being supressed after 2 or 3 emails.

LFG tool that actually works.

  • housing
  • end of culling in PvE

*Equal reward structures and achievement structures for all game modes. (PvE, PvP,WvW)
*More involved dynamic events with a branching system where you have to choose your options- with fails possible
*A build template that allows you to easily swap builds as well as equipment.
*A system like a skin npc or armor rack in your house where you can keep your various skins.
*More missions based on your Order choice

Just off the top of my head, will add more as I think of them

Sorry format went wonky on me

Im very happy with the current direction of the game, but if I were hard pressed to make a list -

- New Dynamic Event chains and open world mini-dungeons (open world should be priority in this game, imo)

- Revamp of the dungeons – specifically focused on making more difficult paths (at least one) in each.

- More guild mission types, including large scale, complex boss fights

- More Fractals

- Continuation and evolution of the living story system

- Trending away from zerker/DPS focused content

I don’t mean random spawns as in you have to go looking, but maybe NPCs around the world start talking about this disturbance in X area. And they have to be made harder I am in no doubt about that. They are not really ‘world bosses’ they just seem like another trash mob with more HP.

Playable Tengu
I’d like to see the tengu made a playable race, but only if they’re treated like a sixth original race (full voice acting, starting city, idle banter between tengu NPCs, a starting zone, etc).

Player Housing
I’d love to see a robust player housing system added to the game. I’d also like to see a furniture-making craft that utilizes leather, cloth, and lumber (raising demand on these materials) added to compliment the housing system.

Fishing
I’d like to see fishing added to the game. A nice, relaxing activity we can do in the open world when we want to wind down would be a perfect addition. I’d also like to see new cooking recipes (Power/Condition Duration and Precision/Condition Duration being my top two choices) stem from fish and seafood cooking recipes.

A New Expansion
I’d love to see a full-fledged expansion added to the game. I’d like this expansion to open a new region to exploration all at once, rather than a bit at a time. I’d like this new expansion to receive all the quality, care and attention to detail that went into the full game, rather than the somewhat lighter content we’ve been receiving through the Living Story updates.

Customizable Skills
I’d love to have the ability to customize my weapon skills. I hate that my guardian’s focus has better defensive skills than does his shield. I loathe that my ranger’s Hunter’s Shot was changed to a stealth skill rather than a new stealth skill being made available for those who want it.

Two-Handed Axes
My warrior is getting angry because he has to use a greatsword as a stand-in for a two-handed axe…and you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.

New zones to explore – not necessarily packed with content. There’s so much to explore just on the continent we’re currently on, so open it up for us! I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I’d love just to roam around in the world even without no grand and “epic” stories or rat-killing quests to go with it.

Personally I would like to see a few improvements regarding treating us as a player rather than a character.

- Make Karma share among all characters, like laurels do etc.

- Make dyes account-unlocks, reduce the dye drop rate to compensate.

- Turn weapon skins, armor skins etc into unlockables. Got those badges for those heavy CoE leggings? Great, you can now get that skin from a new bank tab, using it costs 1 of those transmute stones, depending on which level the item is you apply it to. Now you only have to worry about buying stats afterwards.

- Continue the story of the elder dragons, personal story or living story.

- Much more zones to explore, I love exploring, many others do aswell.

- Make ALL zone rewards scale based on character level rather than zone level, sure people may speedlvl and then go through the zones for max rewards, but is that worse than people farming for exotics/rares in Orr and other places?

- More armors, we’ve had like.. 8 dungeon sets, the basic levelling/crafted gear, some random pieces of equipment and since launch we’ve only got a handfull of standalone pieces.

- Better TP UI, it’s cumbersome to buy things, check prices of stuff, go back to buying more stuff or selling stuff. Plus, when I open the TP it opens the gemstore by default, allow the thing to remember my last opened page as sometimes I have to close the TP and then get back to it, having to search for X item AGAIN.

- More weapons, both in skins and gameplay. We haven’t seen two-handed axes, above-ground spears/polearms, crossbows and many other possibilities.

- After the dungeons overhaul, unify all dungeon tokens to one currency.

- Make all currencies UI based, rather than items. Nobody likes having 8 bank slots taken just for dungeons, among other things i.e. badges from wvw.

- More active skills, I really dislike being stuck to 2 weapon sets and 5 skills that tend to have huge cooldowns.

There’s probably more but this is what I can think of from the top of my head.

-Fix the god awful TP omg. We have all these things, living story and other changes but we still can’t search for back items or exclusively heavy, light or medium armour on the TP?! Whyyy!

-More choices in customization for everything: everyone looks exactly the same and all the hair is terribad and this is probably my 5th post complaining about medium armour being only trenchcoats

-Better balancing and more bug fix/polishes over all

-SAB to come back

-More weapons variety and more weapons for each class

Wishful Thinking:

-I would like a build mirror similar to EQ2 where you could store up to three builds in it and switch whenever you visited your house. I don’t care if there is a fee involved in switching but I am so tired of having to allocate my points repeatedly every time i switch.

-More professions

-player housing

I’ve read thread after thread of people asking for change in GW2, saying the game will die if they aren’t made quickly.

LOL … I wish … haven’t seen a single server fall below “High” all month and I’ve been up at 6am looking (b/c I need to Transfer but I ain’t payin 1000 gems, screw that)

Also this list is FULL of contradictions. It has no unifying theme and half the things on it are where everything went off track in the first place (Ascended gear?? really? More vertical progression?) Is someone trolling or do people REALLY think this stuff is more important than group DE-stopping reoccurring Bugs that have existed since launch or dungeon instances breaking or the fact WvW has only 1 meta that matters (follow the Zerg) and still no real guild progression in it.

The only thing needing to be repeated here about 100 times, is:
-Separate balancing for PvE, sPvP, WvW
…b/c it’s clear that their “balance” team just isn’t taking it serious yet.

This list has is not ordered to show importance. It is simply a compilation of what people would like to see in the future. Guild halls and GvG can certainly provide guild progression. It’s clear to me that you spend most of your time WvW’ing, and that’s fine but please realize a majority of the players PvE and/or have other interests and priorities.

No one is saying that their desires are more important than yours. Please don’t turn this into a hateful thread. This is a list, that is all.

PvP

Game types other than conquest.

Change in development focus from conquest to base destruction (ie: Guild Wars 1 GvG or moba-esque pvp).

Make 5v5 the standard team size for both tournament and non-tournament PvP.

WvW

Optimization.

Bug/hack fixes.

More features that discourage zerging / encourage small group (approx. 5-10 player group) gameplay.

More achievements – including some infinite achievements and easier-to-get achievements.

PvE

Ascended armor/weapons.

More stat nomenclatures.

NO (and I mean ABSOLUTELY ZERO) additional vertical progression after Ascended gear.

Improved rewards in the open world.

Journal that allows characters to go back and re-experience personal story missions at their leisure, including any new missions that get added to any point in the timeline.

Guilds

Ability to view the last time each member logged on.

Removed representation as a system.

Players now simultaneously earn influence for all guilds they belong to.

Additional chat panels for each guild you are in, allowing you to participate in all 3 guilds at once. These would be separated from the main chat tab (and each other) to avoid confusion.

PvP tab – includes the ability to play Guild vs. Guild.

More Guild Missions.

General

More skills, traits, and weapons for all professions.

More hair and face options.

More armor and weapon skins.

Additional weapon types.

Tengu race.

  • Better storytelling. The storytelling in the last Southsun event was a mess. The cinematics seen in Dragon’s Bash was great, but I don’t think that kind of cinematics would work with our characters. ArenaNet often relies too much on NPCs to tell a story, making our characters to appear to be mindless working drones serving someone else (Rurik, Mhenlo, Kormir a bit, Traheanne, Ellen Kiel, Marjorie). I wish they would use their instanced content to tell a story in which our characters are the focus, not someone else.
  • Better Dynamic Events. There are many great small events in the game, telling a small story even within a dynamic world. Unfortunatelly, after release the quality of events has taken a large fall. The World Bosses have always been incredibly weak – only Jormag is the “less bad” among them for having a cool looking battle in two phases, but it still has a lot of issues (and the second phase has been bugged since release, when the NPC says “The wall is down!” – dude, there is no wall, that was in the previous phase…). ArenaNet would theorically improve those bosses, but it’s hard to take them seriously after seeing how mediocre the recently introduced Karka Queen is.
  • Less focus on grind. Give us reliable ways to get rare crafting materials like Lodestones and Ectoplasm. We at least can use laurels to get fine crafting materials now, but ectos are the worst grind in this game.
  • Less RNG. So far the Living Word feels like an excuse to sell monthly RNG based skins. It wouldn’t bother me if we had to buy the skins with Gems, but using this lottery system as the only way to get all new weapon skins introduced in the latest updates feels extremely cheap.
  • Less focus on rewards, more on having fun. I don’t want to see content only for grinders (Southsun: mediocre storytelling, but 200% buff to Magic Find) or for achievement seekers, I want to see content for people who want to have fun just by experiencing said content.

I would love to see an expansion in 2014. The feeling of “There’s an entire new world out there to explore!” cannot be achieved with the piece-meal releases from the Living Word.

  • F5-F8 Equipment build swapping – Not usable in combat but allowing for switching of full armor and weapons out of combat with a button press like we had in GW1.
  • Meaningful Player/Guild Housing with Furniture crafting.
  • Guild party system allowing for 10-20 members to party up and run all current dungeon content at much higher difficulties.
  • New WvW Maps – Add Supply zones that can be conquered by severs giving a bonus to supply production on the other three maps.
  • Separate PvP, WvW, and PvE Skill/Trait Balancing – This is a must for the future of the game.
  • All Weapons For All Classes – Allow all current classes to use any weapon in the game and crack the build flood gates wide open.
  • Aquatic Skill Equality – All utility skills should be usable underwater. No exception.
  • Heroes added to the game like the GW1 system, allowing people to play through dungeons on their own if they choose to.

- After the dungeons overhaul, unify all dungeon tokens to one currency.

THIS. With ANet encouraging players to run as many unique dungeons and paths as possible, should we have to choose between making gold and getting enough tokens to buy a set of gear? The new system they detailed in their blog post will lead to more unnecessary bank and inventory space being used up for tokens that players will most likely not need. Why not let players just pick the gear that they want?

My best suggestion is to allow players to unlock the rights to purchase gear. Each piece of equipment should require a specific path of that dungeon completed in order to trade in your tokens. For example, the Arah shoulderplate, boots, and a few weapons would be unlocked by completing Path 1. This way, players don’t have to complete a mountain of dungeon runs in order to get a set of armor and still reel in the gold rewards. Does anyone see any potential in this type of reward system?
