The April 15th patch removed it without explanation. It was purely cosmetic, giving you a personality type that dictated some text responses you could get without affecting general outcomes of encounters. I think maybe some NPC’s said “You seem friendly” to my super charmer thief now and then.

I don’t know why they scrapped it. Sure it wasn’t doing anything one way or the other, but it helped RPers decide what angle to take in conversations. Seems like more work to undo it than to leave it in place. However, they were redoing the Hero Panel with the Wardrobe Tab and the new Story UI, so maybe they felt no need to port over a vestigial function?

I believe they had intentions for it to be used in your personal story, but this idea was scrapped before launch. Why they kept it in at launch, idk.

It still seems to be working but we just can’t access it. This is probably the only thing I’d like a red tag comment on.

This kind of type invites scorn. Unless it’s mentioned somewhere, I would say it’s probably being worked on for later. A good example of permanently removing something from the game would be Raid on the Capricorn, it’s very much suggested in the patch notes that underwater PvP is no more.

Far as I remember from the development comments when Guild Wars 2 was in the making, the personality system was meant to be, as mentioned before, a big part of your Personal Storyline and NPC interactions.
But long story short, Anet didn’t feel like developing it further (or as people in the forums like to call it, “they focused resources on something else”), and in the end wound up making it a mere decoration after the wardrobe’s release.

There were few special dialogs that appeared on depending your personality…

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

It’s still in the game, it’s still part of character creation, and it’s still modified by your responses to the city-speed-buff NPCs and some others. It’s still in the game, the graph that displayed it is gone, which I think was an unintended side-effect of changing the hero window.
Hasn’t been addressed or fixed probably because, as others mentioned here, it wasn’t ever fully developed to begin with and has absolutely no difference in the functionality of the game.

I just found yesterday that you can actually VIEW which choice your character originally took by looking at the details of your very first Personal Story log entry:
I am <yourcharname>

I had completely forgotten for most of my characters and the fact that it has never been anything more than procedural choice when generating your character was a huge disappointment for most players. I think there are a couple of times it gives you a line or 2 of extra dialog, but it never changed any story plot lines.

We go out in the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

It’s essentially flavor text. Fleshing out the character a bit if you care to do so. A bit being the key term.

I believe the reason for it not being in the patch notes is that when the UI was redesigned, they simply forgot to put it back on.

Most players wouldn’t even notice, but there has been enough threads here of the forum to show that many players think it is a terrible shame.

Why ANet havn’t at least commented on this is a bit of a mystery… then again, well, when do they ever.
