What excites you about the future of GW2?
Legitimate bug fixes are what get me hot in all the right places.
It is hard to be excited about anything since Anet is so secretive about the future.
…So, of the stuff that is coming, what makes you the most giddy?
I don’t know of anything to get excited about. ANet isn’t talking.
AFAIK, they aren’t fixing traits or expanding, adding dungeons, housing, races, mounts, classes or weapons. I couldn’t give a kitten’s rat about PvP or tournaments. As Neb said, we can expect more LS… Yay?
i reserve my excitement for when ncsoft is comfortable on their other projects that they send resources over to relaunch this game
Actually, nothing about anything that keeps forever changing the game, week after week, month after month, excites me … the “Living Story” is a dead end with marginal rewards for suffering through the hours of tedium …
Chance is change, adapt or die, personally I think they keep changing things to justify their lack of creativity, or for job security. They sit around following what other games are doing now instead of leading the pack and being original. They are going through the expected motions of what is happening in the gaming world … making a once great game that was fresh and exciting, monotonous and mundane … Really, a reward for just logging in once a day? I’m trying to find a polite way to say it … but I can’t so, I will allow you to imagine what I think.
Where is the game going, not where we fans of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 hope …
still in all, there isn’t a better game out there at present and I’ve been looking …
The way things are going with all changes it will die a slow death

^This…
People seem to be posting what they wish for in the future…not the limited amount of info Anet have given on what’s coming up.
AFAIK…upcoming features are :-
Living Story Jan
Changes to dailys
New WvW thingy
Pushing PvP esport via tournaments
Other than that, I am unaware of anything else planned…
So very little excitement here…
What upcoming features and content interest you?
1. SAB
2. SAB
3. more SAB
The return of things they have taken away
I second that motion
1. Open up the world. Tyria is huge. Let’s see more of it
2. Raiding. I have high hopes for raids. I hope that a number of Raid Dungeons are introduced requiring more complex strategies than the current dungeons in the game
3. Better storytelling. I do think the Season 2 story is much better and closer to the GW lore that I love. The pacing could use work but I am genuinely interested to play more content centered on old GW lore mixed with …..
4. Dragons. A challenging and epic series of fights (hopefully)
It’s impossible to get excited about the future of GW2 because the future of GW2 is a closely guarded secret that Anet only lets slip 2 weeks at a time.
What do I want from GW2 as a game?
.. Customizable and scalable UI.
.. Redesigned and rethought gemstore and TP (ever used an e-commerce system?? ), and a new mail system with recovery option for when it sends your stuff to someone unintended.
.. SAB and I don’t care if it is complete. Make it a gemstore item (game console) that spawns a SAB portal for 15 minutes wherever you are so that everyone can play.
.. A hint about those 2 secret projects you’re working on that are taking huge resources away from completing the base game.
.. An intern to turn on SAB!!!!#!
$%$
!)(&!
I don’t care if you add mounts and capes and guildhalls and player housing and all the other odd things that people think are in all mmo’s but they’ve only heard about them from other people.
1. Raids.
2. SAB World 3.
3. New skills.
4. New scavenger hunt styled collections.
5. Precursor crafting.
6. New maze-styled content such as Labyrinth, more involved and complex, and also time-gated.
7. Answering more questions about lore because there are too many unresolved stuff going on that I might get lost among stories (seeds from that cavern that originated the Pale Tree for example, intrigues me to hell).
I am personally rather excited about not really knowing were we are headed. There are hints and such, but nothing conclusive.

GW3
Pretty much given up on GW2 in matters of content. Maybe they are working on GW3.
Would only buy GW3 if we get a new Manifesto though, something like:
“We took all the crap out of GW2 because noone likes the grinds or pressing 1, 1 and 1 again, and refocused on GW as inspiration. If you loved GW you should play GW3, and if you disliked GW2, you really, really should play GW3!”
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
I think this is a good analogy of where we, and the game in general, is headed…

Hahaha! Gah I think this sums up my reaction to Living World and where the game seems to be going. Bravo.
The return of things they have taken away
I bet loads of wvw players will second this after next Tuesday, lol
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
1- LB decent
2- Leagues and its Divisions
3- Siege War
4- New PvP modes
5- Raids
6- Big and beautiful expansion
1. Expansion of world maps/lore/ living story
2. New dungeons or elite dungeons (aka. raids)
3. Revamped fractal scale and rewards. Add fractal boxes and ability to exchange relics for fractal weapon skins.
4. New skills, either weapon or professional skills.
5. New PvP modes
6. New legendary weapon crafting
- doranduck, 2016 on Lore in Raids
My HOPES for the future,
1. It doesn’t take another 2 years to get to a new Elder Dragon.
2. More spaced out LS Episodes which = longer LS Episodes that take longer than 15 mins to complete.
3. Longer LS missions that actually take some thought to complete, unlike the ones now you can run threw with your eyes closed and still beat in 5 mins.
4. Larger more detailed maps like the ones at launch with new hearts, multiple zones, POI, Vistas, Skill challenges, events and so on.
5. New armor for all classes.
6. New weapons/skills/existing weapons being used by other professtions.
7. New professions
8. An expansion (I’m not holding my breath).
9. New race
Due to Anet’s Silent Treatment we don’t know that GW2 has a future, and if the past is any indication of what might be coming, then not only is there no reason to get excited, but every reason to think things are just going to keep getting worse.
More of the same ole WvW. I’d like to see better incentives for various goals, but as long as it stays fun on Reset Night, i will continue to keep logging on at least once a week. I could care less what they do with PvE anymore. Other mmos can and will do PvE better.

Good PvE is subject to opinion, sorry.
Cantha, if it even is in the pipeline at all.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
1. Cantha
2. Hall of Monuments
3. SAB
Tekkit’s Workshop
Raids
New professions
dozens of new skills per profession
duelingThe biggest thing being an expansion.
I would like to see new skills per profesion. I’m Ranger and I feel like I have no real choices.
Well as of yet we don’t know what the future holds for GW2 so there’s simply nothing that I can be excited about.
But if I had to make a wish it would be for an expansion with a new continent (preferably Cantha), new profession(s) and new dungeons.
But yeah, like I said, that’s just a wish :p
Mesmer – Necromancer – Ranger – Elementalist – Revenant
For the future I would like seeing more new zones to explore with new mechanics (such as the sandstorm in dry top and the giant caves/verticality of Dry Top and Silverwastes). Perhaps an entire map that’s nothing but a giant cave system deep underground (perhaps linked to Primordius). New mobtypes with better AI and new abilities, as some of the new mobs introduced have more interesting mechanics than a lot of the old enemies.
Less clicking involved with essences of Luck (consuming stacks at once), the crafting discovery panel (1 click instead of double to add/remove), the mystic forge (same as discovery panel aswell as the ability to forge the same thing multiple times without re-adding items).
Obviously new races and classes, new dungeons, new weapons and armor that are unrelated to the gemstore. Zone specific rewards such as the Ambrite weapons from Dry Top and Carapace armor from Silverwastes. Hopefully they would implement this into old zones aswell. They could combine everything zone specific in the achievement panel then aswell, you’d have a Zone tab with the jumping puzzles specific to that zone, achievements specific to it etc. But that last bit is only useful if they decide to give every zone unique achievements and rewards from this point onwards (LS2 seems to indicate they intend to do this at least).
Lion’s Arch being rebuilt, hopefully with a new layout and thematic changes. It aren’t just pirates living there now afterall.
New game modes in PvP, I always liked capture the flag type of modes as the current Conquest doesnt keep me interested for long. As a result I have barely done PvP in GW2 compared to other games. Having dueling in the outside world (outside of capital zones) would also be nice. It would probably help attract some people into PvP aswell. Right now you can either do it in WvW or private servers but the easy access of a duel in the open world is what always made it nice in other games.
One or more new races and a new class or classes aswell as more weapon options for existing classes. The new weapons could even be tied to a few class quests where your character learns the basics of wielding a new weapon. They could also expand the current trait system to allow traits to be obtained in more than two ways (gold or events) and add new skills to be obtained in a similar way.
More world bosses with fun mechanics, Teq is definetely better than bosses such as the fire elemental etc. It would be nice if they added world bosses that don’t require as much people but still have a similar difficulty and rewards.
As said in the OP, these are long term things and there is probably more I could come up with, but these are things I would like seeing added.

A new world vs. world dev team?
Oh wait I forgot.
WE DON’T HAVE A WVW DEV TEAM!
I WAS excited for lots of things. I have basically stopped playing until they add anything that actually adds to the gameplay.
And the reality I have come to accept is that they will not add professions, weapons, new weapon skills, races, or traits in the next twelve months.
So I just check the updates and forums periodically.
New dungeons
New raids
Some tough new world bosses
Some balance in WvW
The return of things they have taken away
This is actually a really good point.
How many people would be excited if they:
1. Reverted trait changes.
2. Reverted the starter zones.
3. Reverted the personal story so it makes sense.
4. Reverted the fractal changes.
5. Brought back SAB.
6. Brought back the dungeons and maps associated with season 1 – zephyrite map, aetherblade path, molten path, tower of nightmares.
7. Repaired LA.
So much of what they changed and so much of what have been components of “big projects” has been the destruction and removal of content. It’s terrible.
1.) New Maps
2.) New Playable Races.
3.) More Lore
4.) New Weapons
5.) New Skills
1.) Mounts
2.) Housing
3.) Guild Halls
4.) Internet Rage
:P
Cantha by Christmas!
An open question for anyone who’s been playing the game long term:
Looking at the future of the game, what excites you the most?
What upcoming features and content interest you?

basically this.
Legendary armor, “Hard Mode” dungeons, new PvP maps, and Polymock.
New elite skill for each profession.
Bad ,,dark’’ expectations a shift to p2w a op advantage over other players
Good expectations a new ,,hard to reach’’ cap allowing access to new maps were the reward after will be mind blowing
The return of Scarlet Briar, even if just in dreams?
I’m excited for the day that they stop working on living story & start adding skills to the game.

Expansi…
Wait… Is this supposed to be stuff we actually expect in the future?
Oh…
Nothing… none of that’s happening
Nothing excites me, because we don’t know what the future holds. Anet has a policy that forbids their employees from disclosing things.
Just expect more Living Story. That is GW2’s future.
That question is being asked as if the future is known, and we should be hyped about something we definitely know is coming in the future. ANet has one of the most nontransparent systems of any mmo on the planet for some reason. Maybe they actually think “it’s better this way”…adorable. Ofc it’s better this way when u either don’t want to or have no clue how to deliver content that ppl want, because u are overwhelmed by the product you yourself made.
…there is no such thing. Each time ppl hoped for something, anet was careful to shut it down somehow.

I would love to have an expansion and more group-based content, like raids or something simliar to dungeons, requiring more people to accomplish.
I think this is a good analogy of where we, and the game in general, is headed…

fixing forum bug
Realistically, I like the direction the game is taking for one reason.
What excites me the most is the prospect of the game growing through new zones similar to Drytop and Silverwastes.
Combined with the lfg tool and guild activity nights, I love the thought of 6/12/24/500- zones that are, in essence, giant dynamic events (with variations between each similar to how drytop and silverwastes differ now).
The idea of being able to pick and choose between these for guild nights or via LFG really appeals to me. It is definitely the right direction for large group play in GW2.
So, basically, Im saying “more of what youve been doing lately” to ArenaNet.
