Sounds good. Precursors cant become more expensive than 1000g, since you cant hold more than 1000g at the same time (afaik). So there would be a hardcap.

Attempting to put a price cap on an item won’t do anything. Players will find ways to trade it using high value items, or just not trade it at all.
In RuneScape certain items have gone over the max limit of cash (which is like 2.1 billion), yet people refuse to sell for that price because it’s worth more. The only way to get it is through a bunch of high value items that are worth more than a stack of max cash.
The same would happen in GW2 if items would somehow reach the max cash valyue.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

if everyone gets more money on their bags, prices raise.

it’s the magic of inflation.

no need to look at runescape. it happened back in GW1 already.

1g for dailies? No, that’s way too much for such an easy task

Well, if Anet put a fixed price on pre-cursor, like 250g from a merchant, then this wouldn’t be a problem.

Your personal heroic legend! Now available for sale from the guy standing next to the bank.

Not really any different than throwing hundreds of swords into a magic blender or buying it on the market like any other common piece of equipment then, right?

I’m not saying I’m for that idea but it’s amusing that you think the current process to get one is worthy of the title “legendary”.

I dont know why you guys are talking about legendarys when thats only a small portion of what would be affected lol

When I said I wasn’t for the idea what I actually meant was that I think it’s really stupid. It would break more things than it would fix.

ANet would raise the cap then. otherwise the economy would be ruined.

All ArenaNet has to do is offer more ways for players to make money. The way it is now, you can’t get much out of traditional farming and are instead pigeon-holed into playing the Trading Post.

I’d like you to track your progress for a week or so. How much you earn, how much you spend.

I think you will find you can easily make a profit “farming” (assuming you don’t mean one tiny area where you get into DR).

You should be able to make money easily unless one of the following is true:

1. You die, a lot. Repeatedly and constantly. And as such you have high repair costs.
2. You pay for waypoints, a lot. Pretty much see above but replace “repair costs” with “travel costs”.
3. You are constantly buying things (i.e. you’re not talking about making a profit, but talking about making a profit after buying a load of stuff unrelated to your current farming) – if you’re buying a piece of T3 cultural armour each time you can afford it then no playstyle is profitable because you keep spending all the gold!

Can anyone think of any which I missed?

:edit:

On topic, as others have said it will cause inflation and achieve nothing other than making items with set prices (NPC vendors, repair bills, etc) easier to afford.

SoE have finally been knocked off the top spot
in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!

This idea is horrible, no offense, but it cancels the whole idea of not having a sub fee. How? You can no longer walk away for a while, you can’t afford to miss dailies, otherwise you fall behind in the economy. It does the opposite of what all the supporters claim it will, it turns the game into a chore that can’t be missed

This. The value of gold is dictated by how hard it is to obtain within the game. If you make gold easier to obtain, prices will go up to compensate and adjust for inflation; this is basic economic theory.

The way I see it:

1 hr farming in Orr nets around 1g.

Dailies take about an hour for your average gamer.
Can be done ONCE per day.

Seems like equal value to me.

I see 45g extra on an average player hitting 80.
Not much farming in Orr left to do then.

Pumping gold like this into the economy every month would be a very poor idea, think about it please.. just for a minute or two :P

just take a look at WoW’s economy, they had copper and silver at the begining too, but now is extremely easy to get gold(copper and silver are worthless, might as well get rid of them) and prices go as high as 50k gold or even more on some items, also this is from my experience that finished at cataclysm, now with MoP it will surely increase… the thing is, getting expensive items is still hard/lame (you have to grind)
