What is the staff going to do about
Didn’t a dev already say that they won’t punish anyone simply for farming failure events, but they will address the problem of people feeling like they’re being punished for trying to play normally? It’s the reason behind the increase in reset timer for the Orr farm, if I recall correctly.
Actually it was said that failing an event intentionally to get more rewards than you normally would is considered an exploit.

A fix is currently being prepared for this issue.
While the behavior (design) of this event was acceptable in the past, changes in the game over time have created an environment around this event that has become increasingly toxic (for the community) due to unintended use/change of mechanics.
Players should not feel that they are in the wrong for completing an event (or event chain), and that is what is happening with this event. The respawn timer for this event will be significantly increased.
There are really two sides to this, and when it comes down to it, you are both right – and you are both wrong. Both sides have the right to complete the task that they set out to do (completing or not completing).
Challenging another player’s play style is the issue here, and since this revolved around an event that was designed to be completed, it is being changed so that the original design of the event can be carried out.
When something in the game (such as this event) changes negatively as this has, we need to step in and remediate the toxicity. The byproduct of this change happens to be that a champion farm is being slowed, but since that was the originating factor for the toxicity, it’s unavoidable.
I encourage players to remember that not everyone has the same goals when they play, and sometimes they will clash.
This says you are clearly wrong. Please stop making stuff up.

Nope nobody gets banned from intentionally failing an event for the purpose of farming. I never knew anyone get banned from it.
However, if the issue escalates to the point that people are harassing those who tries to complete it, they make changes just like what happened to blix. They increased the spawn timer by a lot
i was mapping frostgorge last night and had to turn map chat off, it was every bit as toxic as has been suggested. i would definitely welcome anything that would resolve this

People did get banned for doing it to farm linen in Iron Marches.

That was because it kept spawning mobs infinitely if no one captured the objective. Thus people began setting up bots to farm it for several hours a day.

You could be right about the infinite spawn being a game bug they were taking advantage of, but I remember people saying, people who were never contradicted, that they were farming but not botting.
They could have been lying I suppose. I okay I’ll withdraw the statement it’s exploiting, even though it technically would fall into that category by the description in the TOS.
How about this. Anet says, straight out, no one should feel bad about want to finish an event. But they never said the same about the people who don’t want to.
It’s clear which side of the fence Anet is sitting on here, no matter how politic they’re trying to be.
They need to propose a fix for the LS related events that are being intentionally failed.
My honest opinion to fixing this would be making timers for failing and completing an event the same. Simple and to the point. At the same time I don’t know how coding works so there might be things that seem simple but are more complex.
We are already working on a fix for this event chain. In the mean time, please report players that are being overly toxic (chat) during these events for “Verbal Abuse” as this is a violation of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct.

Wonder if they got banned for actually failing the event to farm, or for other behavior related to that, like botting or insulting people that were trying to finish the event
I’ve been the target of the second one when the popular farming spot was near the temple of lyssa, an event where you were supposed to destroy some walls and mobs spawned until the walls were destroyed, so people left some of the walls intact to keep mobs spawning and farming them… I had no idea of that, I was just wandering around, saw the event, and rushed in and destroyed the remaining walls. I was treated to some whispers after that that if I typed them here would end up just a wall of kittens.
From what I’ve read of the devs posting about such events, that kind of toxic athmosphere is what they’re trying to prevent when fixing those events.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
