Where does "Botting" belong in?
I just created a thread before I saw this one. You are welcome to view the discussion there

I’ve reported the hell out of this and have yet to see any kind of progress. And to make matters worse, the economy on the Trading Post is ridiculous. I hope they do something soon. There are even YouTube videos that show people doing this teleporting hack with a download link so you can get the software yourself. The only folks that are being punished here seem to be the players who are playing legitimately.
About a week or two ago, I reported two different teleporting node bots; they were added to my friends list (as that was the method I used to report them). They were logged on continuously, as far as I could tell, because whenever (day or night) I logged in, there they were jumping around the map. After about a week, their names went grey, and they haven’t logged back on (that I can see), so it looks as though they have had an unfortunate (for them) encounter with the ban hammer.
It just seems to take a bit of time.
Also, about a month ago, I reported a teleporting bot by sending a screenshot into Customer Support. Within about 3 or 4 days, I received a response indicating the bot had been removed. So, Arenanet does take care of bot, at least in some cases.
Honestly, anet has done TOO good a job banning bots.
Bots help provide a stable amount of materials to the trading post. You can immediately see the massive effect of the huge ban-waves on the trading post. Honestly, I prefer having bots in game because otherwise everything on the tp becomes 10xs as expensive.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Bots are bad for the economy. They may lower prices for buying raw materials, but this means that inflation will start to occur as everyone has more disposable income to spend. Things that you actually want to save money to buy will get more expensive because each gold you earn is not worth as much as it used to be.
I prefer that all bots be banned so that I can make some money. Bots lower my chance of getting rich in this game.
As a creator of the first quality and some of the most sophisticated bots in Asheron’s Call 1, I like botting when it is allowed by the terms of service. But since botting is not allowed in GW2, I will not do it. I just expect Anet to ban bots though so I don’t tantalizingly watch them do something I could do if I wanted.
It seems to be the norm for every MMORPG to ban bots nowadays.
I look forward to when my programming plate is empty to make my own MMORPG involving robots. You code robots to go scavenge for resources for you, and then you build better robots to go further. You can write your own code for the bots, or you can find code scraps here and there in drops or terminals.
There is a certain allure to watching cetain bots. They’re like the ultimate screen saver too. You watch them explore the map, and see what they’ll get into, or who they’ll PK. As bots got more and more powerful, they could wander further out to distant zones. There is fun in running bots past,“I’m getting free power.”
But since bots are illegal(which I agree with), I think Anet is doing a good job banning them since November. They just should keep it up, and we should keep up reporting them.
But man… If someone would just make a MMORPG designed FOR botting with PVP aspects, it could be good, real good. PVP + Bots gives a way for a live player to annihilate and loot bad AI.
I think Anet like to ban bots in groups.
Partially because they take some time to check reported players actually are bots and to find out how to identify each type and look for more.
And partially so they can ban all the botters of a particular type together (or as many as they can find) to reduce the chance of the ones that survived figuring out how to avoid getting caught.

Hello,
The forums are not the place to discuss such issues (hacking/botting/exploiting). If you have any concerns about this, please submit a ticket to our customer support team or send an e-mail to exploits@arena.net. This thread is now locked.
Thank you for your understanding.
