Like Chris, I play WvW as a Guardian in full Cleric’s gear (in fact, his build is what got me started). And no, I am not a healer. I’m the guy that rolls into the zerg or choke point and starts raising a ruckus from the inside. 1,300 kills in three weekends. Sure, more damage stats would let me do more damage, obviously, but the healing gear is what keeps my and the other front-liners from inspecting the ground all night.

If Anet is trying to keep the ascended gear in-line with what can be obtained from dungeons (to leave room for crafted ascended gear) then we should at least have a Magi’s set to choose from. While I wouldn’t prefer Healing/Vitality/Power over Healing/Toughness/Power, it’s still better than nothing.

I’d rather regret something I’d done than regret doing nothing.

Why noone talks about Rampager and Carrion gear, or even Knight gear (whose precision was raplaced by crit. damage?), there’s no Power+Condition damage ascended items what so ever. If they are totally neglecting these exotic equivalents, we need an explanation, why? Such a drastic change on gear stats demands an explanation, it would be totally unethical otherwise, even more so considering all that “we want players to have an identity with their builds” fluff talk they did when they decided to add a fee when respeccing traits.
No Power+Condition ascended gear means I’ll have to dump my build entirely. We just need to hear if we are ever going to get the missing sets in a future patch or what we have right now is what we will have for other ascended items later as well, Is that much to ask for?

What set is power + condition damage? Is that Carrion? I added that into the edit of the original post already, and I definitely agree…why is it being advertised that we can play how we want to play….yet new gear being released clearly doesn’t exemplify that statement.

Rampager: Precision, Power, Condition
Carrion: Condition, Power, Vitality

Very popular, good and viable builds use these sets such as many Ranger (some trappers), Thief (Pistol/dagger) and Engineer builds and some Warrior ones to give some examples, and I’m pretty sure many other professions do a good use of these hybrid sets as well.
I’m baffled we haven’t seen an answer concerning this or even the community not being nearly as vocal as expected with this as it’s such a major change in known stats. Hey Anet employee, can I borrow TWO MINUTES of your time? yey?

I play a condition thief (pistol/dagger) build and so ANET’s choice to continue to exclude ascended carrion gear is disheartening. I’m sure the rest of you who play a certain style and see the lack of ascended gear beneficial to your play-style are miffed as well. I think the most disappointing thing about this all is Anet’s declaration that every player will be able to play their own play-style and that these new ascended amulets will take into account all play-styles. I’m not sure if I misinterpreted Anet’s initial statement or hoped for too much, but it feels that they have not delivered on what they said. New ascended amulets are out and none are viable to my play-style without me completely respecing and playing a different way.

Like you said it would be nice to hear from Anet why these oversights were made in the ascended gear, and if ascended gear with these missing stat setups will ever be introduced into the game. My support is always there for Anet from the early days of GW1, but some of the decisions they have been making as of late have been baffling. I feel the introduction of ascended gear in only a select few stat combinations have highly limited the diversity of the game, it seems everyone these days are running either a full glass (power, precision, crit dmg) build or a (power, vit, tough) pure tank build. I’m not sure if Anet is trying to push upon a certain metagame to GW2, but hopefully some word from them on the lack of diverse ascended gear would be appreciated.

I am furious about this.
I play a stable of characters.

My main and favorite is my cleric built necromancer. She can not continue in her stat path for ascended.

How about my apothecary built ranger? Nope, he can’t progress past exotics either.

Maybe my rampager’s flamethrower engineer? Nah, she’s stuck.

My berserker ele? Yes, MY ONLY OPTION.

1/4 of my characters can progress due to Anet’s negligence.

You are missing the point.
This game isnt designed for the Holy Trinity: Tank/healer/Dps roles.

You are missing the point as well. There are a lot more builds missing than only healing power, so don’t get fixated on HP only and lose sight of a greater picture.

Edit: This is not a new problem – it was here since November 15th. I’d really, really like someone from Anet to finally address it instead of pretending it doesn’t exist or is not important.

Actions, not words.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Support guardian here. I end up with the rings that give all stats. Sure I will pick up the necklace as well. I do lose healing, and not to much of the toughness and power. But I do gain the vitality, crit, and dot damage. And crit isn’t bad thing for vigor. So I don’t mind the mass stat gear.

I tried knight gear, with a bit more DPS like build. I definitely felt tougher with cleric armor with as much regen as I can get. Rune of Dwayna are cheap and I like’em.

I play a ranger with full Cleric’s and I hate to say it but I can kind of understand why Cleric’s and Apothecary at least aren’t ascended.

Every bit that toughness and healing power increases pushes classes like ranger and guardian closer to the “unkillable” state. Or what I like to refer to as “The Warden Problem.” (This is a LOTRO reference so if you get it you can skip the next paragraph).

The Warden in LOTRO was a self-healing tank and with the right gear/build could basically solo everything because the ability to heal was greater than the enemies ability to damage you. When I played LOTRO years ago as a Warden I consistently did “Group Quests” without even realizing they were group quests because I could just steamroll through it. I was basically unkillable (assuming I didn’t mess up my rotations) and had enough DPS to kill things in reasonable time.

Inevitably the combination of Toughness and Healing Power will hit that breaking point eventually. Some arguments could even be made it can be hit as is with exotic gear with the right class/build for a 1v1 engagement in WvW. (though 1v1 in WvW isn’t exactly worth balancing around)

Picking up the ‘celestial’ items (all stats) is the only source of ANY healing power on Ascended gear. However, you take a rather large hit to healing power doing that. Roughly between a 61% (amulet, 50 instead of 126) to 63% loss to healing (rings 39 instead of the 103) if it was a primary stat and a 43% loss to secondary stats if the current itemization trend holds for a full ascended set.

Stat losses like that to the major stats kills a significant number of viable builds that don’t have the available stat distributions in Ascended form.

I really feel for the people who use clerics in their build.
The only thing that fits my build is knights, it is absent too, so there is no way I am going to exchange 50-100 stat points I do not need for 10 more points that I do. I just won`t buy any Ascended… this is really sad, because atm I`m stuck in non-top tier.

I just don`t understand Anet reasoning. There must have been some logic behind ascended stat distribution, but I just can`t see it. If I were to create ascended, I`d just increase main stats and allow exotic jewels slotting alongside with infusion. If there is some technical problem with that, like when they were unable to make two upgrade slots for two-handers, then I`d make pure-stats jewellery for all known nomenclatures. It would make for about the same number of trinkets overall, but if I needed some mix, like popular knight trinkets with ruby jewels for example, I`d just go with a bers ring and knights ring+amulet (or any combination really).

As it is, Ascended is just unviable for half the builds out there.

It’s completely unprofessional in my opinion. I would at least like to hear their reasoning behind their the decision

I guess they will end up getting rid of cleric weapons whey they release the ascended weapons.

I would like to point out that I loved the ascended idea, and was thrilled that they released it, but I am now very disappointed that I can’t have the cleric stat.

As a support staff Elementalist i agree with many of you guys, there’s something just wrong with Ascended gear. Why give “zerker” people even more damage, and don’t give us a way to counter it? Seems like Anet wants WvW fights to last no more than 30 secs, just mindless spike damage and no support builds to avoid being bursted down to the ground. I am a WvW player and i really can’t understand how they want us to play, i love to keep my guildies alive a little longer against bigger numbers, but again it seems like Anet just want everyone to join the brainless zerg. I really hope A DEV COULD SHOW UP AND ANSWER THIS, because apparently we can’t find a good reason to leave cleric gear out of ascended.

Yeah ascended items seems a backstep to me, yeah have higher numbers but the lack of diversity is huge, not only we cant customize the “jewel stats” but there only a few option, the major one bersekers with diferent “jewel stats”, the only customize is the infusion they are only +4 to X stat.

The good thing about GW is have a lot of gear costumization like the exotic gear but now we have nothing , grab berseker or bye bye, another proof that show that the Ascended gear was a rush, right now is items are a joke.

What will be next ? Ascended armor, lack of stats again, and throw the awesome runes to garbage ?

Because when – if – they release CURRENT stats absent in ascended, they`ll be “the best”, “saviors” etc and the current stats are going to be set in stone forever after because we WON the right to have them.

The issue isn’t that they’re “better.” The issue is that their stat combinations are the anchor point for a lot of our favorite builds—and not because they’re meta or overpowered builds, but because we simply enjoy them and they work. And now we’re being forced out of our builds if we want to use the higher tier of gear.

I let my original threads die because I figured there was no way Anet would “forget” it in the next ascended item patch.

Not letting this thread die. Anet’s “forgetfulness” has moved from being forgivable bumbling to malicious negligence.

If you’re terrified of option shock or RNG rage where people open vendors and see too many items to dig through or there are too many items in the loot tables that people only have a tiny chance of getting what they want then modify the system to compensate.

Ascended should’ve been a quality tier that could’ve been given to any exotic item via mystic forge. That way exotics retained value and all stat sets were available. We’d also completely avoid the insane quantity of named items.

I have written too many posts, and bug reports to this have simply been ignored. Now that ascended amulets have been released as well, why is there still NO healing ascended gear? You’re STILL missing cleric’s, givers, apothecary’s, and magi’s. Why advertise that you would release amulets for every single type of player yet fail to include even ONE of those item combos…this is getting ridiculous. Why am I being punished for wanting to make a support character? Were these item sets forgotten or completely abandoned? If they are the latter, then why do they still exist in the form of exotic/rare/masterwork armor pieces?

EDIT: Additional missing sets include Rampager’s, Carrion, and Knights’s,

Every bit that toughness and healing power increases pushes classes like ranger and guardian closer to the “unkillable” state. Or what I like to refer to as “The Warden Problem.” (This is a LOTRO reference so if you get it you can skip the next paragraph).

Wait, wait…

I understand what you mean when it comes to guardian; in fact, I’ve already had a situation where, in a 1v1, a guardian was completely unkillable… but since when is Ranger unkillable by any definition? It’s really only guardians who make the most out of HP, and I think that’s more a problem with the class than a problem with HP itself…

Also, to everyone who’s trying to argue that this omission of healing power is a deliberate design choice: armor with healing power absolutely does exist. Traits with healing power absolutely do exist. Exotic jewelry with healing power exists, and it’s only slightly worse than Ascended jewelry. There isn’t any good reason for ANet to want the Cleric’s prefix gone, and if they do, why does it still exist in everything else in the game?

To preemptively address a retort I anticipate: If Ascended jewelry isn’t that much better than exotic, why do people have basis to complain over not having the stat combo they want on their Ascended gear? Why not just stay at exotic? Two reasons: Ascended gear is a potential point of pride, and Ascended gear is better, though marginally. Ascended gear takes time and effort to get – I remember when I got my first ascended ring that matched a stat set I wanted, I was really happy. It meant my efforts in Fractals had paid off for my character. To anyone defending ANet in this topic: imagine how you would feel if you reached this point and there were no Ascended items with anything close to the stats you wanted. Imagine you had to stick to exotic. Most of you would feel kind of cheated, especially if you put a lot of time and effort into Fractals to get the stuff. That marginal difference is important to players and has a marked psychological effect.

Healing Ascended gear needs to happen, and while they’re at it, they really should add the other missing prefixes as well.

You dont have to trash your entire build.

Traits can be mixed and matched to suit your own playstyle, the way you like it.

The way ANet likes it FIXED

So its perfectly fine for them to buff damage outputs via power and crit damage but when we want to increase our ability to negate this effect its seen as unbalanced? If I recall, healing power still scales pretty terribly compared to all other stats.

Play the game for the way it’s ment to be played.
DO you have a Healer/support class in Call of Duty?

What if I want a gun that heals people? SO when someone gets shot, I can heal my team with my gun?

No… You. You are Not a healer in GW2 because that role doesnt transulate in GW2’s combat system.

Other games like WoW use the Tank/Healer/DPS roles which makes it 100% fine since that’s the core design of the game’s mechanics is to work with those 3 roles, But GW2 is designed with Damage/Control/Support in mind where all classes must use to Solo effectivly and coordinate with team effeciantly. It’s a new kind of combat system.

By adding a healer type class or stats that makes certain class valid for Healers, will destory the game design and that’s when people start asking for Healers Elementalist or Guardian healers/tanks…. No thanks -_-

So clear that patch after patch, they are pushing us on a support role only, by cutting down self healing and offensive tools.

and just to be clear, not only the lack of ascended cleric gear is hurting us, but also the lack of ascended knight, that is our main stats gear.

Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs.
It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill"

Updated the list to include Shaman’s as yet another armor piece missing. Why has there still been no response from this…people may argue that you definitely do not need ascended items to be competitive but how is it in any way fair that glass cannons with berserkers get to have stat increases (and their stat increases are multiplicative since they’re not only receiving extra power and precision but also INCREASED CRITICAL DAMAGE) whereas supports/carrion/knights/rampagers get shoehorned into remaining one tier level of gear below everyone else? This is totally unacceptable. I did NOT do the fractal dailies twenty times to just have them sit in my bank account…I WANT to be rewarded (just like everyone else).

Because this game isn’t about Tank/Healer/DPS roles.
This game’s combat system is based on Damage/Control/Support.

Being a Support character isn’t encouraged exactly.
You’d only be gimping yourself if you only focus on 1 /3.

In GW2, You need to know how play with your team properly by dealing “Damage” while coordinating “Control” and Supporting each other in the party.

I play all 8 classes and I can tell you that you want to fully focus on knowing how to take advantage of your class and it’s capabilities for combat to be as useful as possible in your team.

An Elementalist who focuses on Water Attunment for support isnt useful compaired to an Elementalist who helps the team by coordinating “Control” and “Support” while contributing “Damage”.

Your playstyle is based on Weapons + Utility Choices with costumizable traits/stats but the combat system is still Damage/Control/Support.
(Those are Not roles but Mechanics)

This has no bearing at all on gear. One can do all of those things effectively with any gear. Let the player choose whatever stat combo they want (for instance, healing emphasis gear doesn’t mean that all the character will do is heal, and that makes no sense either way.)

There are no roles and nothing else, but playing smart. No one is arguing against what you said anyway, because gear is not related to your concept of combat system (I.E. those who want healing Ascended gear DO NOT want to play “a Healer role”, but rather emphasize Healing Power, much like any other player would want to emphasize Toughness, Power, Condition Damage, etc.)

IMHO, the lack of these much needed Ascended gear stat combos have little to do with how “they want” you to play the game, and more with Ascended gear being an infant, work-in-progress mechanic.

I also don’t think it’s fair, but believe the answer to be that Berserker’s is single-handedly, as far as I know, the most popular stat combo, and for that reason the one that got implemented first. Why didn’t they implement other popular combos, such as Knights, is weird, but inexplicable-I assume they will do so in the future, because otherwise it wouldn’t make sense, just as it doesn’t right now.

We really don’t have any evidence that they are not implementing the standard nomenclature sets in the future, though. At least, I haven’t read any official remark to that effect, so while I understand the disappointment-and clearly, it makes no sense-let’s just wait and see (AND not spend too much on needless Ascended gear with the “wrong” stats for our builds.)

I DON’T want to be forced to play another spec or build because the gear prevents me from focusing on what I find the most fun…

Quoted for truth. This is the first time I’ve actually felt like ArenaNet is deviating far enough out of the bounds of their “your playstlye” philosophy to actually be considered, well…for lack of a better term, full of it. First time I’ve actually been irritated with them since they over-buffed Dervish later in Guild Wars.

Funny thing, or maybe really mad irony.

- Our class is pushed into the healing\supportive role patch after patch. (dont get me wrong, i dont like this role, but i respect your wish to play it)
- Our classe have no ascended gear to fulfill that role.

Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs.
It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill"

Chiming in my support for this thread and a desire to here from the dev’s on the issue as well. There have been a number of gear choices I simply do not understand in this game, most notably the ones mentioned here in this thread with ascended gear.

If there is some plan, some reasoning as to why ascended gear continues to be added while skipping specific stat setups, that we as players enjoy, I would like to hear why.

I am also tired of the argument that we are meant to fill multiple roles, there should be no heal role, etc. I do not tell you how to build your character, play your character, or work as a team, so shove off and let me make my own decisions on what I am going to wear. There is a variety of gear in the game for a reason. We all have individual preferences on how we like to play and gear ourselves. Ascended gear is not expanding our gear choices, it is narrowing it, and we have never been told why.

Maybe we should push for the removal of power/precision/crit gear and it will get more attention?

Oh hey NIM You just took the words out of my mouth, most notably your third paragraph. I find it especially conniving how they stated they released over 30 amulets to account for every playstyle…when in reality it’s only 10 different stat combinations and 3 different infusion slots per combo. There’s a plethora of combos that are still missing and I’m convinced that the list I have is not final.

+1 to this
+1 to wanting dev response.

I ain’t gonna go switching my gear around for the treadmill a net, but a lack of options means lack of builds.
Developers simply don’t forget “stats”….

Have the devs reponded in any way to this, on any forum out there? Why would they do this? I understand Anet is busy, but to exclude entire stat sets like this and not give any reason and ignore previous posts regarding this issue…….What’s up Anet?
