So before they open up other continents, which of these zones on the existing map would you most like to see opened up in an expansion or living story update?

Indigo: Isles of Janthir, Janthir Bay
Red: Woodland Cascades
Orange: Far Shiverpeaks
Lime: Bloodlegion Homelands, Blazeridge Mountains
Purple: Magus Falls
Pink: Maguuma Wastes
Sand: Ring of Fire
Lavendar: Scar of Kralkatorrik
Dark Red: Crystal Desert
Blue: Deldrimor Front
Baby Blue: Scavenger’s Causeway, Elon River
Yellow: Sea of Sorrows, Dominion of Winds
Brown: Tarnished Coast
Gray: Orr Remains

Definitely need me some Crystal Desert and/or Maguuma Wastes. I think one of the number one issues in the game right now is that there isn’t quite enough diversity in the landscapes.

Looking forward to Maguuma Wastes and the Crystal Desert the most. Would be interesting to see how much they’ve changed since GW1.

More violence, less violets.

Scar of Kralkatorrik. That would then lead to the crystal desert and Elona.

Or Far Shiverspeaks + Blood Legion Homelands for EotN areas.

Not crystal desert. It’s supposed to be filled with undead and I’ve had enough.

I’d go with Maguma and Ring of Fire. Save Crystal Desert for when an Elona expansion is about to come out and it can lead into the expansion.

Not zhaitan’s zombies (which are mostly human in Orr), though. These are undead from Joko’s horde. They had a lot bigger variety (human, tengu, centaur, giants, etc.)

To be honest ? All of them. It’s an RPG, right ? Normally, you try to expand your universe as time go by if you want an interesting story…

Now, the real thing is: when will we see this ?

Probably never, seeing how Anet devs aren’t working on new stuff (not a new backpack I mean).

Just wait for the next part of Living Story ! It’ll entertain you ! …for a few hours.

My vote is for either Ring of Fire or the areas east of Orr (Orr Remains, Elon River, Crystal Desert).

Lorewise, at the end of the personal story we (aparently) destroy Zaithan, makes sense for the push to continue from there to reclaim nearby lands.

From a gameplay perspective, other areas marked in that map would need some heavy design work to diferentiate themselves from other areas that already exist (jungle, heavy snow and so on), while we don’t have open desert areas or full on volcanic areas in the game (mount maelstrom is close, but it’s only a smaller area within a full map)

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

erm…I HIGHLY doubt that we’ll never see these areas.

The first year, GW2 has been building a HUGE amount of resources. From here on out, they can build upon a solid foundation. And we will see some new areas in the next year (I’m thinking either the Dominion of Winds or the Magumma Wastes is next)

And to give you an idea as to how huge the world is the devs get to play with…the red square represents all of GW2 (not including Mist areas [sPvP and WvW])

There’s that little strip of land between Sparkfly Fen and Mount Maelstrom that needs to be filled with something.

Personally I’ve had a gutfull of Undead after Orr, and I’m not a huge fan of Water combat so I would rather see the maps expand to the North West and cover Magus Falls, Maguuma Wastes, Isles of Janthir and the Woodland Cascades. If Crystal Desert wasn’t full of Undead It would definitely be first choice, and I’d love to see what happened to Sea of Sorrows region but I’m tired of the water combat.

I’m looking at that map, thinking back to GW, and thinking ahead with what GW2 could do with those areas and I’m getting excited. I can’t wait until they openmore of this map up!

Crystal Desert is probably the most popular first choice. I’d love to see some different kinds of enemies there, something harkening back to our GW ascension, and of course Glint story stuff.

Charr Homeland could hold a lot of good potential story stuff that touches on the past. And Kralkatorrik is up there too. Well, he was anyway.

Far Shivers because the norn are a fun race to be around. And Jormag.

The Maguuma Wastes could be pretty epic looking. When I first logged into GW2’s beta and walked into Caledon I was blown away with how gorgeous it looks. I’m thinking they can do Maguuma right.

I think they could bring back the Mursaat in the Maguuma Wastes too <evil grin>

it would be a nice addition but it is “the mordor of the game”… I prefer they add this at the end when there is no more land to add rather than have another empty beach map. I trust their creativity no more and don’t want them to invent new hazardous maps in the future.

Ok so opening up each area will bring up certain directions for the Living Story to take:

Isles of Janthir – researching Mursaat technology?
Woodland Cascades – more on Centaur and their lore
Far Shiverpeaks – take the fight to Jormag
Bloodlegion Homelands – more on Charr lore
Maguuma & Magus – delving deeper into Sylvari and Pale Tree origin and purpose, possible Mordremoth

Scar of Kralkatorrik – way to Crystal Desert, take the fight to Kralkatorrik possibly or whatever is in the remains he left behind

Crystal Desert – oh man lots of history here; old ruins of ancient civilization, undead, Forgotten? Tomb of Primeval Kings, Ascension, Glint’s doorway, road to Elona…

Deldrimor Front – more on Dwarves, their lore and their keeps
Orr Remains – is Zhaitan really dead? more on Arah, ruins of the old city of the gods
Dominion of the Winds – more on Tengu, lore and possible new playable race?

You forgot Giants . They use to roam the Crystal Desert so one could easily see several giants in a Crystal Desert mapfor GW2 perhaps even with events . You also had the Hydra, Enchanted and various Scarabs to deal with too. Who knows given the shift in the Elon we may see somme foes more native to Elona there too either way i hope its the ext area to open .
