Anet has hinted already that the 3rd living story picks up where we left Glint’s egg.
Are we to conclude that because Kralkatorrik killed Glint and the story picks up where the egg was left, that we are going after him?
If he’s aware of the situation will he be the one coming after us?

Second scenario regardless of the fact that we are going back to the egg, maybe Primordius, his minions have been harassing the The Dominion of Winds and other places since day one 42 months ago.

My third would be Jormag his minions are also active.

My last choice is Bubbles because we never heard from him or her.

Please discuss which dragon will be next and why you think so?

There was a picture in the HoT website (can’t find it now) that showed a hydra surfing into the new lions arch on a huge wave. Could be artistic licence or the direction the game is going. The lack of work on underwater combat sort of limits this though.

I used to lean more towards primordus or kralk being the next, but right now im pretty sure its going to be the deep sea dragon

If you go to the drill in lions arch bay you will glow green now, this is new, and if you go to the top of the lighthouse it makes really wierd noises, different than the normal buzz it had and it also glows with a green tint now instead of just blue like it used to be, there was concept art along with heart of thorns that seems to depict some kind of hydra attacking what is presumed to be lions arch

All together i think they plan to do the deep sea dragon next or at least introduce him so that all 6 dragons are no longer as mysterious and they can expand more on how they all fit into the big picture together and they can start picking up the pace in the story’s narrative

i’d like it to be jormag, but i’d expect it to be Kralkatorrik for a couple of reasons:

1. the crystal desert seems like an obvious choice for the next expansion location
(and thats where kralkatorrik is)
2. HOT SPOILER—-glint’s egg played a big part this expansion and glint was Kralkatorrik’s champion.

I think it will be Kralkatorrik for all the reasons already given and because Trahearne mentioned during Season 2 that until Mordremoth woke up and proved to be the biggest immediate threat the Pact had been planning to go after Kralk.

I kind of suspect some kind of suprise attack on multiple fronts, like maybe we persue kralkatorik and just as we are starting to close in on him the deep sea dragon attacks lions arch and possibly other attacks from the dragons elsewhere cause a major catastrophe where we end up biting off more than we can chew

please not another dragon.
In GW1 they didn’t need a single dragon to have an awesome game.
Arena Net should go back to the roots.

But i already make a prediction here for the case it is a dragon:

-Different groups will be informed of a dangerous dragon
- The groups don’t work together.
- you make them work together.
-Defeat of Dragon
……….. rinse and repeat for the next dragon

i am so sick and tired of that.

Yup, my guess is that we’ll need to face multiple dragons at once next.

Zhaitan was nice, but everything went as planned and the pact killed him.
Mordremoth was stronger. He defeated the pact, but was killed by a small (elite)group.
It’s obvious that the same plan can’t work again. That would be boring. So the next danger must be impossible to overcome in this small group. ANet could make the next dragon stronger, more intelligent, whatever, but that is a concept that doesn’t work for all releases to come. The only thing that can beat one big evil dragon are two big evil dragons.

Primordus is currently fighting the dwarves and Kralkatorrix is fighting Palava Joku. Only Jormag and S… are not being detained by huge armies, so it’s likely that they’ll come at us next. My guess is that we’ll start a campaign against Jormag and in the middle of it our backline gets overrun by sea-creatures.

In terms of development this game has already lasted longer than GW1.

Prophecies was released in April 2005, Eye of the North was released in August 2007, just under 2.5 years later and at that point they had decided they couldn’t do what they wanted with the engine and were planning to make GW2.

GW2 is almost 3.5 years old and they’ve just announced their plans for the next few months and hinted at another expansion later on.

You must be playing a different game to me. The story of HoT was not what you said, nor was the story of the Core game. It sounds more like the story of Eye of the North. Also how would you do a story? You kind of need a big bad in an fantasy RPG. Or what would the story be about? How you helped a farmer kill a giant worm that was going to eat his cow? No it wont be that, the worm is the big bad. You help a farmer milk a cow and sow some crops?

That is true, but many feel in terms of quality, so far GW2 has underperformed in comparison to GW1, yes I know they where standalone campaigns, but still. The comparison is and will be made between the two.

There was a picture in the HoT website (can’t find it now) that showed a hydra surfing into the new lions arch on a huge wave. Could be artistic licence or the direction the game is going. The lack of work on underwater combat sort of limits this though.

Well if they are working the underwater combat which personally I find nothing wrong with and a lot of fun. What do I know the fussy picky majority left the oceans and thanks to them Anet left it out completely out of any future content for now which made Maguma looking a bit dry and ridiculous.

Well we also know that, Kralkatorrik= Crystal Desert Expansion. Opening the way to Elona eventually perhaps with the same expansion kill Palawa Joko for a second time thanks to Anet’s lack of imagination by bringing enemies a second time after they had already died.

Primordious= Dominion of Winds and underworld expansion. With the introduction of a new race the Tengu.

Jormag would lead us to the Far Shiverpeaks and to more Norn and Kodan cities and who knows what else.

Going after Bubbles of course would lead us all the way south to Cantha and it’s mysteries after 250 years of silence.

Kralkatorrik and Primordous seem to be the two they’ve continually hinted towards lately.

Kralk – The whole situation with Glint’s egg, Glint being obviously related to Kralk. Rytlock saying he’d like to go after Kralk next. I guess the Shatterer buff too, but I’m not sure that’s a hint so much as simply them getting around to fixing a battle that’s been in long need of it, and there doesn’t actually seem to be any lore behind the changes.

Primordous – Heavily researched by the Rata Novans, and Taimi is now hanging out there learning as much as she can from their research.

This is true, and leads me to suspect that Seadra the Seadragon will be killed off by some kind of superweapon that will also kill Primordus at the end.

Before then, I really expect to see more activity from all the remaining dragons, causing us to have to chase around and put out fires (so to speak) for a while.

If I was writing it, I’d have some general unrest problems start popping up, causing us to rebuild the Pact with a new mission of keeping everything safe while smaller forces make tactical strikes against the dragons themselves. Then, I’d go after Jormag next, as Kralk starts to fall silent for a bit.

With half the dragons dead, then we turn to Kralk when people start to get visions of horrible battles going on in the Crystal Desert. And when we get there… the Branded don’t attack. The visions were coming from Kralk himself, who gained more sentience due to the attacks and deaths of Snaff and Glint. Now he’s in a desperate battle against Jako, who’s trying to absorb his powers and become some new dragon/god. Worse, Kralk reveals (and it’s soon confirmed) that if we lose one more dragon, the world will spiral out of control as magic starts to run rampant. In the end, we’re forced to kill Kralk as Jako absorbs his power, destroying them both.

This finally leads to a desperate rush to destroy the last two dragons so we can use some new theories that have been worked up to try and replace them with artifically created bloodstones or something else to contain the overwhelming levels of magic loose in the world.

We will use glints kid to mentally abuse kralkatorrik into submission, and use him to fight of either Jormag or Primordus. Both Dragons involved in the fight will be beaten into such a weakend state and forced to go hibernate, in doing so their energy will seep into the ley-lines stirring Bubbles/Steve into existence. During the time of his migration we will venture forward into toward Cantha and find Kuunavang. Rytlock will talk to Kuunavang using Shiro and persuade him to join us.

It will culminate in a pokemon style fight to the death. Leading to most of the magical energy in the world in disarray. This will allow the ancient races to recover their power and energy (and in the case of the jotuns, intelligence). However, all this magic will also attract Lazarus the Dire as he seeks to condemn all the generations from here till the end of time. This will ultimately force Livia out of hiding and we will have a so you think you can Mance special with the judges being Logan, Anise and Zojja.

But what they don’t know is this is all according to Mr.Sparkles plan of dominating the world and killing off all meatbags.

This is how I would do the dragons/expansions

next would be Kalk

Then Jormag AND Bubbles

Then open up Cantha with a non dragon big bad. Some sort of Terracotta themed army Emperor thing maybe

Then Big Bad Primordus

Then you do Elona with the Lich Fellow

After that if the game is still going strong you go back to the beginning and maybe do a restoration of Arah with the return of the Gods.

Assuming they do Xpac, living story, Xpac, living story, release pattern that gives you just over another decade of Guild Wars 2

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there will never be an MMORPG called “Guild Wars 3”.

Why? Because it would be the ultimate “split the playerbase” moment. Also, anyone jumping to GW3 would have most of their work and advancement in GW2 tossed out the window. They’d get a few trophies or skins, at best, just like GW players get in GW2. The difference is that if GW3 is the same kind of game as GW2, then they have even less reason to make the jump.

It would likely be more profitable to replace part or all of GW2’s program, and keep all the players in the same MMO. And if there ever is a GW3, expect it to be something entirely different than the kind of game GW2 is.

The game has all but abandoned underwater play – you can rule out Bubbles.

The servers will go dark before the do the work required to rebuild Hoelbrak in a way that makes sense if we were to do battle with Jormag.

That leave Primordius and Kralkatoric, both of which are well positioned as enemies we can trounce without wrecking the existing content. Fighting Kralkatoric would mean more edits and changes in existing content than Primordius, but I also think Charr are more popular than Asura, so they’ll probably put us up against the crystal dragon first despite the costs.

Since we got the jungle dragon out of the way the logical conclusion next is a snow dragon. We dealt with poison frog people whose skin itself generates strong poison and the biggest threat in an arctic area is the temperature itself, which is mitigated by simply wearing a sweatshirt and a heavy coat and gloves.

The Wiki says Jormag is gradually making his way south so maybe he’s in The Crystal Desert so we’ll see snow scorpions (assuming he corrupted much of the area to an arctic biome)? Arctic regions typically don’t have any dangerous creatures except for polar bears whereas deserts have scorpions, snakes, gila monsters, poisonous spiders and all sorts of stuff.

I would say it is likely Kralkatorrik, Glints egg, Hidden Arcana, Shatterer buff and the general fan desire to see the Crystal Desert make it the best bet.

As the Great Destroyer was the first hint of Dragons I would say they would probably save Primordius till the last.

Personally, based on the information we know I’m expecting it to be something like a one-two punch of Jormag and Bubbles. From the Quarterly update they talk about LWS 3 and how the heroes investigate a strange disturbance in the North, and Bubbles is long overdue to make an appearance.

I have a feeling we’ll end up screwing everything up going too deep North, inciting Jormag’s wrath and then while we’re dealing with the aftermath and taking on Jormag, Bubbles goes and drowns Lion’s Arch. Bonus points if it’s a 3 or 4-way pincer attack between the remaining elder dragons. It does seem possible given a few of the lines in the quarterly update about how the dragons react and Glint’s egg hatching.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it does end up being at least a 3-way cluster between a Bubbles surprise attack, us encountering Jormag, and Glint’s hatchling being a servant to Kralkatorrik.

I’d kind of like to go after Bubbles next personally. I can see the underwater gripe that some have though. Granted, they could get around that though, just by having Bubbles rise from the depths.

But, assorted hints already point us in other directions. Hell, considering what happens in HoT, we could be heading for Jormag next. I could see a tie in there, and that would ok too.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Personally, based on the information we know I’m expecting it to be something like a one-two punch of Jormag and Bubbles.

I think with Jormag and Kralk since the Wiki says that Jormag is making his way south so he might be in the Crystal Desert now:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jormag

Since its awakening, Jormag has steadily pushed south.

This should be enough time for him to be in the Crystal Desert or maybe even Elona.

As far as we know, Jormag is still north of Frostgorge Sound. We have never spotted any of his minions south of the Shiverpeaks, his lieutenant has only traveled as far south as Frostgorge, and the Brand hasn’t been frozen, which is presumably what would happen if Jormag were to pass through it. Plus, in the Quarterly update, they say strange disturbances to the North – this suggests either Jormag is still in the north or some other unknown threat is in the north.

You forget that if all dragons are dead, then the world is boned because of all the abominations created and feeding on the energy left by them, do you want a million of Gorseval against you?

Its… almost like… they would need… a whole new game to address that… like a number that follows 2…

I don’t agree with that. I think you would be right if we were talking right now but if we are looking down the line. A decade might be a little extreme, but even 6 years from now the game will have been live for nearly 10 years. The engine will be EXTREMELY outdated by then and assuming GW is still a money making entity I think the excitement generated by the next chapter would be significant. I think a good idea would be to go even further with what you mentioned. Give the player a lot of carry over from the GW2. If someone sank 10000 hours into GW2, had everything “unlocked” and was a cornerstone of the community they should build a far more robust “Hall of Monuments” (Maybe a hall heroes? Where are my Medievil fans?!?) and dish out oodles of rewards to the folks that played.

I think the bottom line here is that if the GW IP is still making them money and has a solid player base there will be a GW3,4,5,6,7 and so on

There was a picture in the HoT website (can’t find it now) that showed a hydra surfing into the new lions arch on a huge wave. Could be artistic licence or the direction the game is going. The lack of work on underwater combat sort of limits this though.

Yes there could be disturbances up there but the clues could lead us further south. He could have gone east to the Blood Legion Homelands then south circumventing any of the game’s playable areas.

He could still be north but the Wiki said he was already in the process of going south. Arctic is also a less dangerous biome than a jungle assuming you’re dressed heavily enough. The jungle is the best biome due to it having lots of water and a good temperature, but due to how awesome the real estate is the stronger creatures pushed the weaker ones farther north, so you have what polar and grisly bears descended from being pushed out of the jungle from what lions descended from. The jungle having the most dangerous life therefore pushed out lesser lifeforms. Humans are also originally jungle creatures but due to an urge to explore went north to the desert then east and northwest from there but unlucky for them Europe was in an ice age. Yeah I watched some of Cosmos.

How about this?

The death of two elder dragons has caused a rift between the world and the underworld, causing the river of souls to leak into Tyria (and creating Gorseval, etc). The dragons served an essential purpose and now we start seeing the consequences — a rift to the Domain of Anguish opens up and demons start coming in, as they’ve been waiting for the buildup of magic that the dragons have been preventing.

So, now we have to fight the forces of Abaddon, who are trying to put the dragons to sleep, and we are left conflicted as to whether we want to do that or wake them up again. In the process, we awaken the 6 human gods, who are linked to the 6 dragons (in some way that the expansion reveals).

The best line of the expansion will be when Rytlock admits that Scarlet Briar was right all along…

Speaking of underground it’s such a horrible biome that it was the inspiration for Hell, and even then people only saw a taste of what’s down there from volcanoes. So anything that would live down there (impossible in real life around lava) would be very tough and hearty. We conquered the frog people with highly poisonous skin (a poison arrow frog has enough poison in one milligram to kill twenty people) and the jungle itself, so logically in keeping with sequels needing to outdo the previous installment need to up the ante. Arctic and alpine zones have the potential to be more dangerous but the wildlife needs to be there.

No thanks. That would be a horrible story, something I would expect from a really bad B movie, or something on the sci-fi channel.
