Greetings all !
First time GW player here and after reading up on previews etc.. I thought i’d give GW2 a go !
Astonishing, lively world above & under water. its the most beatiful mmo i ever played hands down. I had fun the first few levels as it was fresh, but since i reached lvl 20 it kind of feels like i’ve seen it all and am bored already , wich is no doubt very fast … .
Dynamic quests instead of npc handing quests. hmm interesting no doubt but in a zone there are 4 or 5 npc’s who dont give you a quest by clicking on it, no you just magically have the quest if you walk around in the area. thats handy but not really dynamic in my opinion. they are still there and its not because i dont need to click on them personally that the feeling is different then when it just appears in your event log.
So far i’v been having events like : defend these 2 cows or persons from point A to B.
defend a little fort from 5 or more waves of enemies. gather in a field some stuff while killing something. to me these kind of quests look like repetitive dailies and im not even at endgame where those dailies mostly occur.
Also, yay another gold medal … for what? for those 50 coppers? or that 1 silver ? Karma points where i can get some gear who doesnt appeal to me at all ? its not gear based this game and i’m fine with that but whats the point in getting some gear then anyway? they could of just levelled my gear alongside my level of character and be done with it. I dont have the feeling of wow this is my character, wow look how shiny I look. not a single moment i have been in this situation and im lvl 29 now.
Crafting looked interesting, trying to figure out schematics for crafting pieces until i see that the trading post is nothing more then a sell to vendor window wich gives you maybe 5 % profit over the vendor. So why spend time on it ? for fun ? sure, but how long does that last ya ?
The Trading post in general is not something i can make money with. I anonomously sell goods to people and i cant even choose the price since i have to go with the previous 10 000 other people selling that price. If wood cost 3 copper for the vendor and 60 % of the players sell it at 4 copper then i have to go with those 4 copper guys altough i wanted 6 copper for it. Trying to sell something at a higher price is not gonna happen , plus you lose the fee for you putting the item on the trading post.
So becoming rich in this game is non existent i think, or maybe in a far far future. Sorry I like to becoming rich in mmo’s, my playstyle is based on it, shame this game doesnt support it appearantly.
the fighting overall … I can say its the first game my eyes are hurting from fighting in events. If i didnt know any better, it could of been called epileptic wars. Whats the fun or point in this , really ? Luckily i see some numbers so i know im doing damage, cause i cant even see what i’m doing if i’m in an event with 10-20-30 pple bashing on some enemies or boss in a close area. fighting alone is oke visually, but unless its a harder mob i can just be standing there and press 1-2-3-4-5 and be done with it. if there are multiple ones , i may have to dodge or heal myself up , so thats a little bit more exciting but still not enough.
Meanwhile i go from zone to zone just running around, exploring without finding any nice chests ( i found 1 or 2) going into caves to kill new monsters i havent seen before dropping the same loot but nothing special !
I’ve done some WvW and oke the castle defense is nice, but I have done this in Darkfall online before and it just felt more fun there, and I cant be motivated to keep doing this here, mass battles and running from castle to castle. dont get me wrong, its not that bad or not fun at all, but not for constantly playing it.
So yeah, these were me 2(00) cents, I want to like it, but I dunno, maybe its not for me? am i doing it wrong? are my conclusions wrong ? plz enlighten me cause i dont know it anymore.
thx for reading my wall of text !
