We need more difficult instanced content 1-5 man, but we’ll keep getting zerg fest content

More like you need to find a game that suit your needs better, not every game can be every thing to everyone.

Wildstar tried to cater to the loud hard core players and found out within a few weeks that hardcore actually do not care for challenging content they just want the content that provides the best loot. the truth is the future is not with the “I m leet crowd”.

I mean you can keep fighting against reality but hard content is just a Fancy code word for best loot.

World of Warcraft has content that appeals to a broad spectrum of players. Well if you enjoy running around a static route with an invincible zerg where you can basically get carried good for you. You’re just a hamster on a treadmill

Thats such a poor mentality. There is definitely a community in this game that would enjoy more large organized content. People do it in PVE and in WvW. Yet you have to somehow insult them by saying something like that lol.

Why can’t they just make two or the overflow for the popular maps where everything is ‘hard mode’ sound like the easiest thing to do.

Basically people these days feel that they are entitled to everything

Yes, for example there are people that think they are entitled to exclusive rewards or content aimed only at the small minority they are part of.
Funny how that argument works both ways, right?

Actions, not words.

if you could stop forcing difficult on players, that would be great.

you already have 3 whole new areas, dungeons, fractures and world bosses…..all new.
do you see new dungeons that are not so difficult, new areas that are made for lower levels/difficulty……no?…….my point exactly.

New dungeons? where?

TA Aetherpath. It’s nobody’s problem if people asking for difficult content don’t do that dungeon. Sorudo hit the nail on the head.

Ahh, I thought he was talking about something new, not something that came out over a year ago…

it’s still new-er then from launch, my point is simply that i would like to see new areas and dungeons for the ppl who just don’t enjoy dungeons as they are now.
i like dungeons in GW because they still have normal enemies to fight, some things need some puzzling to get through a door.
in GW2 you’re bombarded with veteran enemies and higher, it’s pretty much a straight path through overpowered hordes of enemies that do nothing more then keep you busy.

what’s wrong with having a small dungeon that is more made for the casual group of players, a dungeon that just exists to have a side adventure without the hassle of overpowered enemies.
also, is it so much the end of the world to have lvl 30+ area’s, is it really so much a death sentence to increase the world’s size for the lower level characters?
max level isn’t the only thing in the world you know, they can already get everywhere but in the mean time lower level characters need to constantly play the same old world as it is from release.

i don’t mind seeing difficult stuff added but lately Anet is exclusively thinking of the hardcore crowd, making casuals feel like they don’t belong anymore.

Except it doesn’t, because it requires effort in the first place to be a part of said minority. People are not born with computer games skills.

The marionette event was difficult and often failed if not coordinated properly. Similarly was Teq.

The issue with both events is that they require a med-large amount of players. What ANet is still struggling with I think is to balance the scaling of events.

If they one day can make a boss that can be defeated by one person, but as more people join the harder it gets, then they have solved this issue. It is not easy mind, but I believe they can work it out.

Right now their biggest problem is scaling it as more people join the actual fight and not the vicinity. I suggest maybe they look into limiting the amount of damage a boss takes per sec or per min, when being attacked until the event has scaled properly.

Ex.:
→ Event starts → 1 player attacks boss → the event is adjusted for 1 player → that one player does reasonable damage to boss, and would complete within 10 min (with skill).
→ 5 players join → boss has damage ceiling buff and doesn’t take more damage than 2 players can deal at the same time → Event starts to morph to allow for up to 10 players (boss deals more damage, minions start to form etc.)
→ 5 minutes later 10 more join → boss is now halfway down ceiling buff is currently adjusted for 10 players → Event morphs to allow for more players (boss begins using special attacks, starts to move more, targets single players with insta-downs, etc.)

It is doable and I believe ANet has a lot of the groundwork done to do something in this vein.

What I want to see from ANet is more versatility in such events. I want to singlehandedly be able to defeat Teq. if necessary (by necessary I mean when nobody else cares to defeat it, but I sorely want the ascended skin or an achievement, or when a group of five are the only ones there to do the job). It should by all means be harder and maybe a bit more longwinded for a smaller group or a single player, but not impossible as it currently is.

Look at many champions for example they are quite doable in a small group, singlehandedly it takes a lot more time, but it isn’t impossible. They are no match for champ trains however and that could be fixed.

wildstar didnt fail because of its hardcore endgame content.

the problems are:
- you cant really do anything outside of raids.
- DS 40 roster boss is too strong.
- DS had/has alot of buggy fights and guilds need to re-progress nearly every week.

Beside the bugs in 3. that all sound to me exactly what is called hard endgame content.
Especially 2. is what people here always shout for .. hard .. harder .. unbeatable.
In EQ2 it was “normal” that mostly just one guild per server beat the hardest raid before the next level cap.

1. Raiders so often have postet that they are not even interestet in other content than raids and thats why they need raid equip and other people not. Of course its not the
fact that they only want that to farm easier content so much faster than others .. no .. never ..

3. reprogress every week .. also hardcore players are always unhappy when there is
no progress .. so sound great for me ..

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

you love to take things completely out of context and you dont even know what “hard endgame content” is.

LOL. seriously….
google Roster Boss and try to understand what it means.
let me give you a hint: http://www.dict.cc/?s=roster
Roster Boss isnt a difficult raid boss.

Of course its not the
fact that they only want that to farm easier content so much faster than others .. no .. never ..

forcing your opinion on others doesnt make you look any smarter.
and your opinion is not a fact

3. reprogress every week .. also hardcore players are always unhappy when there is

you want to kill challenging stuff and not beta test for months. stop turning things around. thank you

Could we perhaps have some more ‘easy’ content first, before we start thinking about the ‘hard’ stuff?

The latest living story episode had what was basically a level 40 boss transplanted to a level 80 instance, and while I found it fun, it was somehow ‘too hard’ for players with the benefit of 40 levels’ worth of extra skill development. The same enemy appeared in a previous level 80 instance as what was closer to a level 30 boss, if that. And in level 60 instances, you’ll sometimes see bosses that don’t make the cut for level 10 bosses.

It shouldn’t be easy to get to level 80 without also getting at least somewhere skills-wise. Yet we’re very limited in PvE content — particularly fresh content — that actually provides players with what should be a skills-appropriate challenge.

That’s something that needs to be fixed before we start worrying about hard content. And it needs to be fixed at all levels, and under-skilled players need to be encouraged to go back to it. Otherwise, they’d effectively be letting players play around in puddles for 80 hours and then suddenly throwing them into the deep end.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m trying to imagine what a true raid-quality boss fight in GW2 might actually look like and how glorious it would be.

Do you want challenge for the sake of challenge or challenge for the sake of more effort more reward?

lol it doesn’t. People who want content that requires organization and skill are not entitled. They are only asking for that content, and in doing so will receive the rewards for it. No one is asking for special rewards just for themself. Its the people who can’t do the content or don’t want to put in the effort to receive the reward, and then go on to complain about not having something handed to them. They are the truly toxic ones of gaming.

I can’t speak for others but for me its more the challenge than the reward. I mean look at teq and the wurm when they were released. People were racing to get the world first. Ye the rewards weren’t too great for teq, a bit better for the wurm but still not amazing.

Rewards relative to the challenge will ultimately determine the contents longevity though from what ive seen. Look at teq, its completed even regularly by some pug groups if they have some sort of direction. The rewards fit for something that is difficult but doesn’t take a super coordinated guild group, days to do. The wurm on the other hand is different. I mean if you are a guild group that can consistently kill the wurm, like some do, then its worth it. For pugs or people who could take days and tons of coordination to do it, there is no point. If, however, the wurm was something that guilds consistently struggled to kill, even after this long, then the rewards wouldn’t be worth it at all.

I think that some content was hard content, but the community fool proofed it with how to complete the events making them easier, and then casuals complained it was to difficult and caused it to get slowly easier.

Not to mention the elitists out there who max out completely and make the game itself a cakewalk for them.

I’d like to get Teq like bosses, which actual mechanics but not so easy.
