Why did you pre-purchase Path of Fire?
I was excited for Elona and the Mirage. So far, the Mirage has been a huge disappointment.
4 years and 8 months in GW2 and still playing…it’s natural to buy it,i can’t think why not to buy it..
“We are now! We are forever!”
Because no matter what it’s like I know I will like it enough to justify buying it. I have played this franchise for 10 years and even when some things are sucky (such as length of HoT story) I still get a tonne of fun out of it.
Prepurchase for new games is bad and should be avoided at all costs, since you have no rational reason to place your trust in a company. Some games are good, some bad, and every studio has their up and downs.
But expansions in an online game is a bit different. You don’t buy it because you expect the product to be good, but rather buy it because you want to continue playing the game you already have. Not buying is for all practical purposes the same as quitting the game, as the majority of the community that you exist in now will move on to the new content.
PoF can be crap. It can be great. The quality of the expansion will impact my future decision to continue playing the game or not, and in the long run if I will buy the expansion after PoF.
I remember only, back at HoT prepurchase days, I was able to easily prepurchase it, because ANet offered for the prepurchase for those that live in the Eu also SEPA as a payment option, so that they can just draw in the money from my bank account …
I find it very sad, that they don’t provide this option this time again for PoF, but instead only Online Banking, which is not the same as like SEPA…
Howeve,r when it goes for paying Gems in the gemstore, they they offers us to play them with the simple and comfortable international ACCEPTED payment method of SEPA.. so I absolutely don’t understand, why they don’t allow us this tiem again to prepurchase poF with the SEPA method again, just like some years ago with HoT.
@ Gaile: Is this maybe just only an error? If it really is one, can you please ask the responsible people for the onlinstore, that they fix the payment options and offer also SEPA Debit, so that also the people can prepurchase the game from your Onlinestore, which have no credit cards or despise options like paypal/online banking ect.
Because it makes absolutely no difference for me, if I can pay now gems ingame from the gemstore with SEPa, or if if I prepurchase with SEPA a voucher code to download the game…
I also quite not understand, why we can#t also just simply prepurchase PoF directly ingame from the gemstore, just like we are able to buy HoT from the gemstore.
Because basicaly that would be the simpler and quicker solution to my problenm, if anet would just make it possible to prepurchase PoF from the ingame Gemstore, where it is for me already possible to pay simply with SEPA and get my voucher code then sent via ingame mail after having prepurchased PoF.
Because this game is fun, and I already know I want to keep playing it. I only wish that it came with a physical copy
completely forget, what ive written, thenre, i just realized that I was too blind and just haven’t clicked ingame the right button to get to the prepurchase view in the gemstore, where you can buy it with sepa
One reason and one reason only……MOUNTS!!
You ask why? More story, new Elites, new maps, etc. Overall, more content.
If you are playing regularly, I don’t see any reason not to buy it.
if u play gw2 then u have to buy it
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
I play GW2 so I bought it. Got a lot of hours from base game and HoT. Gonna play PoF a lot as well.
I like Guild Wars as a franchise and I will preorder just to get the title ready for when it goes live. That way I can merely enter the Crystal Desert, enjoy the game play, have it crash because every game’s first day does stuff like that, and finally enjoy my journey afterwards!
Given as a gift.
Simple: I want the story (including Living World Season 4).
More Elite Specs are good, too, and mounts are surprisingly fun (assuming all are as well done as the Raptor)), but the story was really the big one for me.
Impulse, because I have no self control or healthy methods of coping with said lack of self control.
I bought the ultimate edition as well :’)
Despite some longstanding issues, I think the game has improved significantly in the last year, especially with Season 3. That being said, PoF’s success will direct whether or not I continue spending money on it.
To support a company that has given me 12 thousand hours of entertainment.

Was away for 2 years, so no hype, didn’t even know it was coming. Found out about it on gaming news sites. Played demo weekend and then bought it.
And this
Open World exploration.
It was always worth it, to me.
For the same reason I would watch a Quentin Tarantino movie without having seen a trailer or knowing what it is about. I don’t need to do that to know that there is a low risk for me to not enjoy it. Or maybe compare it to a book series. Did I buy every volume of the Harry Potter series before I knew what’s in them and before I read any reviews? I sure did, and two volumes cost as much as this expansion. It’s not even a decision I have to contemplate about. The book series Wheel of Time has 14 volumes and each costs about 6 Euros, that’s 84 Euros total. The books are stored in a box somewhere and I’ll probably never touch them again. They gave me a couple of hours of fun each (and parts of them didn’t, just like GW2) and I consider them worth the money.
Even if I stopped playing the game two weeks after the expansion for some reason, I would still consider it money well spent. I’m looking forward to complete old maps with my characters using mounts because moving is just so slow, and when you start exploring, you don’t have the waypoints.
I waited to see Firebrand elite and now I dont think will be prepurchasing expansion cause guardian elite is the worst , well maybe not worst cause of renegade but awfully disagned so far.
when I look at the hours of time spent in this game and had fun there (why else should one stay with the game?) this is little money compared to a person thats walking in a restaurant or sports park to have fun.
and know nothing of the principles that guide my blades.”
For me they deserve the money for the fun I have had in a f2p game and not only that but I know I will enjoy the new land.
Because I like this game and I want new stuff.
I’ve seen a bunch of people who pre-purchased Path of Fire as soon as possible (even before the first demo started), so I wanted to ask why they already bought it.
Because I’m stupid. I never lose hope, no matter how often someone (in this case ANet) disappoints me. Also, a bit of curiosity was involved on where the story is going to lead us (I wanted to see if they will be able to make up past disappointments and the bad writing lately). Thus far, I am not particularly excited, and a part of me regrets having pre-ordered the expansion.

This^
So much of the enjoyment comes from your prior investment in the francise, and the friends who are buzzing around the new maps with you.
Despite my prejudices against pre-orders, I would argue that you should pre-order any MMO expansion that you’ve got a significant connection to because you can get the most out of those first days and weeks. If you wait a couple of months, you’ll miss the excitement and energy of the launch.
On the other hand, if you’re just lukewarm on the franchise, I would suggest holding off until the reviews come in.

I thought to myself if I was going to get anymore entertainment out of $30 then I would get out of PoF.
Even if I hate it it would still take me several days to find out.
Soulbeast has been a disappointment. Overall 2 demos have been rather disappointing for me. So I haven’t thrown any money at PoF yet.
Over the course of 4 years i’ve been playing on and off. I was spending $$$ in regular manner in cash shops whenever i was on long stretch playing. I have probably accumulated thousands worth over the years. I stopped spending recently, completely.
I know $30 is not a lot of money. However, for me, that initial $30 would have been a flood gate on whether i will continue playing and spending on the game.
The end of the road is near, I’m guessing. I’ve been playing less and less. HoT disappointment did a lot of damage on me.

Even if you hated it, you still gain access to new specialization and mount, which is a huge asset if you want to stay competitive.
The new specs aren’t that great. This just isn’t about staying competitive. PoF is about whether to play GW2 anymore.
I haven’t pre-ordered yet.
So far PoF hasn’t offered me anything that has prompted me to throw down money for a pre-order.
More class options. More story (that, fingers crossed, won’t suck). More terrain to explore.
Mounts.
And $50 worth of gems I was going to buy anyway. :P

I’ve enjoyed all the GW1 campaigns and expansion and I’ve enjoyed GW2 and HoT. Judging from my past experiences with anet I have full confidence I’m going to enjoy PoF as well. Plus I’m really looking forward to the firebrand. I enjoyed the elite tomes for guardian and I was sad to see them get removed. Now that they are bringing them back I can’t wait to play the firebrand.
I purchased it because since the day I stepped into Tyria (24.02.2013) I was caught, I fell in love and I haven’t looked back. I brought ultimate as I saw the 4k gems as a future investment as I would be spending that somewhere in the next year on odds & sodds.
I am really looking forward to the new mounts, exploring new areas and learning new specs

But will you wait?
I didn’t buy the ultimate version because I would probably just spend the 4k gems on character slots and storage within a day, instead of spending like 200 per week. I will probably spend 4k within the next half year, but that way it’s spread out. Spending 4k now would not keep me from spending another 4k in those months ^^

Guilty as charged.

Because I played GW1 and GW2 since the beta for a ton of hours but when HoT was announced I thought it was so overpriced so I didn’t bought it. They told it was overpriced cause it included the core game but old players already owned the core game…
Now PoF is sold for a fair price for an expansion and HoT is discounted if bought together. So for 50€ I got both and I can play HoT and LS3 (which I already unlocked for free) while waiting for PoF. I’m also curious about Elona being an old GW1 player… and also: rabbit mount is super super awesome, can’t miss it!

ok ok – I didn’t wait….
those Living Story 1 boxes came out, and I have always been in awe of those shattered wings (I missed them when i started) So i spent 1.5k on those boxes, but I got the wings, after 4 years of wanting
im saving the rest for mount customisation lol
I pre-purchased because:
1) I like GW2.
2) Previous record of the dev in supporting the game and provide steady stream of content is good.
3) The new location seems interesting.
4) 9 new elite specs.
If you like the game and regularly play it, $30 for the amount of content to be provided at lunch + content to be provided through the expansion after is surely a good deal.
While I never preorder new games, I happily buy season passes and prepurchase DLC if I liked the base game enough.
I’ve got over a thousand hours invested in this game. PoF already has way more of what I’m interested in than HoT and it’s cheaper. This was a no-brainer for me.
I know I will play season 4 anyway, so I know I’m going to buy the expac. Since I’m already decided on that, why not get some little extra perks?
So I’m going to prepurchase PoF soon. Since the new product doesn’t seems that great to me (Mounts, pff…), it will only be the standard version.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

I play the game since 2005, no end in sight.
Mounts.
A non-Druid Ranger elite spec. :P
Crystal Desert.
New armor sets and weapons.
I like GW2, so I make sure to have all the content. Haven’t played a bunch of the old content yet (raids etc) but maybe someday I’ll have the time.
Why? Many reasons.
1. Played GW1 since the beginning and still log on occasionally.
2. Played GW2 since beta.
3. Loved the game, lore, mechanics and the whole world of Tyria.
4. No reason to not think I will have as much fun in PoF as I have with all the rest.
5. Crystal Desert
6. Elona
7. Beautiful New Maps
8. GW1 Nostalgia
9. Hydras!!!
10. New content for GW2
Ain’t got it yet but planning to pre-purchase before the date comes, simply because it’s another expansion to the greatest mmo out there.
The quality of the expansion will impact my future decision to continue playing the game or not, and in the long run if I will buy the expansion after PoF.
Ditto.
Because i only play this game x)
Because it gives me a 70th character slot over the 69 max you can normally buy.

Yay! I’m so glad those wings came back for others to enjoy. I’ve been maining the shattered wings since Dragon Bash.
