Why do we promote this behavior? Nevermore IV [Merged]
Youre wasting your time anyway, even if you do the event it doesnt give the item
I agree. I think I just screwed folks up by jumping in on a pre event that has to fail???? May have been BlackChaos above (sorry if it was you and to anyone else that had been waiting). I had no idea about the requirements to make Nevermore (until being chewed out for trying to do an event when they are the daily).
Nothing in a game with multiple player instances should require folks to not play/need to let something fail for people to move forward…especially something that takes so much to achieve. Having to have something fail in an instance would be understandable, when you can limit the number (and who) is there.
Again sorry to anyone I may have screwed over by not having read the fine print for something in the game that is relatively new and was not something I was trying to achieve myself. (Krazy Eighty Eight)
I don’t think I saw you anywhere, but as stated, it’s not anyone’s fault, besides the ones’ that decided this was a good thing to implement for a legendary collection :/
I mean, how SHOULD you know about that? And in the time people try to type something in chat the shaman is usually already dead, heh.
Especially today it will be impossible since there are a lot of people around for the daily – but even if not, it’s absolutely ridiculous, sadly. I kinda enjoyed the rest of the collection(s).
It’s actually a little humorous (in a sad way) as Anet themselves official said they don’t condone this sort of behaviour or want to see it added. And yet here they are implementing it into the mechanic of the game. It doesn’t give you confidence.
I do not understand why the title has to be against other players, who just want to play like intended.
There is a thread on reddit discussing this issue that has a developer response to the effect that they are removing requirements for failed events in these collection progressions.
Take heart, ANET agrees with you.
I did a quick research, couldn’t find it. Can you link?

They’ve actually answered your question.

We really tried to make sure to not include events that require failing. If there are instances of this happening, I would love to hear about it so I can investigate how to change it.
The reason you missed it is because it was posted on the defacto official Guild Wars 2 forum. Not this side forum where they don’t post answers to important issues you raise.
ANet may give it to you.
Thanks for the link to the dev tracker. Many people reference this, but they seldom link it.
re: There is a thread on reddit discussing this issue… ~ …Take heart, ANET agrees with you. – why are they responding on Reddit instead of the offical forums?(Why?) Here’s a link to a player-made thread with that info:

re: told that this collection item is working as intended… ~ …and if I was unhappy I should voice my opinions in the forums. So here I am. – But they aren’t responding on the forums, they’re responding on Reddit.(Why?)
re: Oh, was also told I should try playing at a later hour when there are fewer people on the map. – This is a solution?!? Why has Anet not learned from their past mistakes? Why do they keep fail-gating things?
The dev tracker is on Reddit?
The dev tracker is on Reddit?
There are 2 dev trackers. This forum has one and reddit has one.
ANet may give it to you.
We’ve been heard

“Fix issues that encourage toxic play or interactions. No collectible should be gated behind failed events, or mechanics that make you upset that another player is playing a specific way. Unfortunately these things take longer to fix and test around the fixes (don’t want to break something else on accident), so the turn around will be slower”
This is all that I need to hear. As long as this doesn’t take like 4 months to fix I’m glad to see and now I can just be patient and work on other things
Thanks all for this discussion, I think this pretty much closes the arguement… unless it doesn’t get fixed :P
Thank you for the link to both dev trackers.
