Dear Arena Net, dear developers, dear community,
I come here to you in search of answers to my grief and sorrow as I do not believe that the matching up system and ranking is working as intended.
Since the start of the Competitive Ranked sPvP I have met very few victories but a plethora of losses, on a daily basis. In the beginning I have been placed in the Gold 1 bracket and now, somehow, I went so low as to Silver 1. This caused me much frustration and grief as all the losses to which I was witness, were not my fault as a player. Contrary, every match I managed to get at least one top stat, from kills to revives to offense.
In every match that I am a combatant and lost, I have seen everything from lack of direction, structure and a modicum of strategy, which means that I am either in the wrong bracket OR I am matched up with the wrong kind of competitors. To give you an example:
I play a Mesmer build, taken from the Metabattle site, the Power Shatter Chronomancer, to which I tweaked some aspects, like Scepter instead of Sword for better illusion spawn and blocks. With this character I managed to lose EVERY SINGLE MATCH in which I have participated, and trust me not from the lack of trying. I still got one or two top stats, but to no avail. A loss is a loss. The score in these matches varies wildly from 500 to 100 and something or 500 to 70 something, so on and so forth
I also play a Burn Guardian with enough sustain to keep it going and to my surprise, I had some won matches but mostly I have been met with gruesome losses. Thus I have tried to find any and all reason for these losses, in my person and as such I learned rotations, watched Youtube videos of Tournament plays, listened to Tournament champions and overall I believe I have been a good student and something stuck to me.
But still the win to lose ration is below 50%. To be more precise, as of this moment it is around 46% which indicates that your matching up system not only works poorly, but it does not work at all.
My experience thus far is one of a toxic community, bad competitive players with no strategy whatsoever and considering that this is Ranked I am talking about, the quality of gameplay is in the gutters.
I am now at the 26th lost match and I am closing in very fast to Bronze. I have stopped trying and I play to get some rewards out of it and get my achievements for the Ascension backpack, which as things progress I will either get frustrated and drop this project altogether.
Considering the above and if it is not too much to ask, I want an OFFICIAL ARENANET answer regarding the Ranked competitive play, the way players are matched and why is it possible for a player to accrue 26 (that is TWENTY SIX) consecutive lost matches.
TL;DR – The Ranked system is in the gutters, the players I am matched up fight like headless chickens with no direction or idea to whatever they are doing, and I don’t see the 50-50 win loss ratio which the theory behind postulates.
Can you tell me which account you were playing on when you lost 26 games in a row? Looking at the match history of this account I see the longest losing streak is 11 games, and you’ve also had a win streak of 12 games.
Today we’re opening new official Guild Wars 2 forums! You can read all about our new forums in today’s blog post and you can access them here.
The forums you are viewing here will be locked for posting later today, September 12, 2017, and we plan to retain them in read-only mode through October of 2017. Our new forums will offer a fresh start and will provide a great setting for all the conversations that are sure to come with the launch of Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire and Living World Season 4.
We have created a few essential administrative or introductory threads for the new forums. You’ll also find useful announcement (“sticky”) threads, such as those that gather bug reports or player input or that host player screenshots. You’re welcome to recreate a thread that you first posted here on the new forums, or ask a forum member to do so with a thread that they started.
You may want to pay special attention to our guide to the new forums, a thread that contains tips for getting familiar with the system. You are invited to share your input about the new forums in a feedback thread created expressly for that purpose.
We hope you will join us on the new forums, and we look forward to seeing you there!

The issue of needing to wait a little while to use a two-factor auth code should be resolved. Please let us know if you still have any time-based issues with two-factor auth.
Just in case, I’ll also remind anyone who altered or removed two-factor auth from their GW2 account that if you want to re-enable it, you also have to reset/re-synchronize your mobile app’s code for GW2.

(edited by Raymond Lukes.6305)
Hi all,
Today we hit an internal milestone: we locked down all content and feature development for Path of Fire. We now move the game to our staging servers and start final preparations for launch.
This expansion is all about content, and today’s milestone marks the completion of eighteen months of content creation. It’s been a labor of love for the team. We hope we’ve brought each story chapter, each open-world zone, and each mount up to the level of what you experienced in the demos last month.
Thanks to everyone who joined the demos and the stress tests. We used those tests to inform our final balance tweaks, and to squash some bizarre bugs that we could only reproduce under heavy load, like the one where Raptors would randomly show up in non-demo maps.
We’re in the home stretch. Eleven days to launch! We can’t wait to play Path of Fire with you!
Mo
Well I’ve done 100, but the incentive to do the torture that is 100cm till completion isn’t there. It simply isn’t fun. It’s hilarious that 100cm is actually harder and more frustrating than ANY of the raid bosses. What happened to the stepping stone? Apart from anything else, the entire fractal takes forever. If this is the way fractals will be going in the future, I’ll avoid them.
We aren’t happy with how the length of Shattered Observatory ended up either. It ended up being out of whack with the standard fractal experience for most players. We are taking a lot of things into consideration for the next fractal.
I’m not seeing an issue with this achievement internally. Is it possible that you’re playing around daily reset time? The win tracker for this achievement resets with the daily reset, so that could be what you’re seeing.
I can think of 3 possible reasons.
1) You or your friend are currently dishonored.
2) One of you haven’t met the PvP Rank requirement of rank 20 for participating in ranked matches.
3) You’re in a group with someone from another region (NA vs EU).
I’d never heard of something like this happening either, so I looked up your matches and rating changes to make sure there wasn’t some bug.
I’m not seeing any rating changes during times that correspond with your unranked matches.
Hey guys,
I’m really sorry this fix took so long but there were a lot of factors at work here. I think we’ve finally got bug fix and it should be live for everyone. If you are still having trouble please let us know.
Happen to have the IDs?
Ah, the unlock mechanism is a new one that isn’t picked up by my content reading bits.
Not sure when I’ll have that fixed.
I’m 3D-artis and I want create 3D concept of weapon in Blender, then render image to 2D, and use a PS to match a render picture to template sheet. Is this correct or maybe is too realistic? At last finall result is still a 2D.
No problem with that as long as you submit a digital 2D image in the end. The technique you use to render that is up to you.
I read a few other rule sets of contests from other companies where this sentence appears and it always refers to registration processes for sweepstakes and things like that, to void entries by bots.
That too.
That’s strange. The rules seem to state that the weapons should be completely different. "Any entry submitted by a Contestant must be substantially different (as determined by Sponsors) than any other entry submitted by same Contestant. " Did I misunderstand the quote?
Weapons using a same theme are still different weapons. This line just means that you can’t submit several times the same entry and expect it to be treated as individual entries. In any case, belonging to the sponsors’ team, I can say that weapons belonging to a same theme are okay for us.
I am now also interested in what happens if a person submits 3 entries and becomes a finalist. Does only one entry get chosen for the finals or all 3?
We don’t pick 20 finalists, as in entities. We pick 20 finalists, as in 20 entries.
:( I have a weapon I want to submit, but my zip program doesn’t work. Can I have someone submit it for me?
You should not submit a zip. Zips are considered void by default. Your file should be .JPG or .PNG or .PSD and be light enough to fit the requirements.
I drew by myself weapons in 2D
Then it’s okay. You’re not using a bot or a script to cheat.
So my question is, can I cancel out the newer entry, by adding another “erratum” to the end of the newest (third) file name, essentially making it ‘…erratumerratum’, or should I just give up already? xD
Just write “erratum2”
Still unsure about the limits to particle effects. My design has an on-off aspect, where it is a Bow handle, but when equipped particles fan out to complete the design. Is that considered legendary status particles? I’m worried my submission will be disqualified.
That seems ok, particules wise.
If you download the zip, there is a template with the dwayna weapon concepts and the blue lines are pretty general.
Again, blue lines are a guideline you can take some liberties with.
Mai trin seems overpowered, i can beat chaos observatory nightmare, yet mai trin gives me trouble when you get the cannon part.it seems completely random and i can’t seem to survive.
It might need another nerf to be in line with the others.
The cannons target each player. Just spread out from everyone else and dont run around all crazy. Just step out of the AoEs and only use your dodge when you really need it to get to a safe spot, and it becomes a really easy phase.
Also don’t facetank mai trin’s attack unless you have a condi cleanse, since she stacks crazy bleeding stacks on you. Stay close to her, but try to be behind her when you can.
Just for clarification; Is this change gonna affect outside of sPvP, like in WvW where the pulls/knocks from players into structure have been just as detrimental?
Yeah, all player used knockback and pulls anywhere will be affected.
Monster knockback and pulls are not being changed for now.
I gotta applaud anyone who can figure out the mechanics in the clusterkitten that is fractal 100. The first fellow’s alright, but the second boss just has way too much going on at once.
Even on normal mode, she’s actually a fair bit harder than many raid encounters.
Viirastra has 2 core mechanics:
1. Stand in the bubble when you have the skull
2. Bounce the marble on your head (only 1 person needed, backup helpful)If you do these two mechanics correctly, the rest of the fight is pretty easy. Failing these two mechanics quickly snowballs the fight to failure.
There are also two minor mechanics:
1. Don’t stand in the AoEs (You can jump over many of them)
2. Kill the big clones, then drag the little ones to the boss.Doing these two mechanics reduces the damage pressure to almost nothing.
Theres a bit more to the fight, but this is the core that will allow you to succeed in non CM.
If you are failing the marble, try lower tiers. The marble pattern is significantly easier. Also note that when the marble bounces on your head, it refreshes your SAS. Your SAS is OP and you should use it to move around.
Edit: If your group is learning, try having everyone do the marble at once. There is no time pressure on non CM, and doing the marble gives you lots of aegis and invulnerability so you can stay alive.
Out of curiosity, was is the thought behind the marble mechanic? To me, it didn’t feel an organic part of the fractal itself, more a random mechanic added, because more mechanics were felt to be needed.
I think that is what set this apart for me – the mechanics didn’t gel with what was going on around. Much of the other fractals work a) because they are short bursts and b) because the mechanics are organic to the environment. This felt too random or out of place if that makes sense.
Viirastra is innocent and playful, and literally thinks she is playing a game with the players, so marbles made thematic sense. Plus, the marble mechanic combines perfectly with the SAS skill, which brings the joy of movement in this fight to an entirely new level.
Idk if id describe Viirastra like that in the cm version. Yes the marble feels like im playing a game with her. She throws me the ball and its my job to keep it bouncing and sent it back to her. But shes innocent and she doesnt know that ball is a ball of suffering and death. /shrug
I was describing Viirastra, not Artsariiv.

We will be adding a new currency that is similar to Proof of Heroics that will allow you to buy new sigils, runes, recipes, and hero points from PoF.
Awesome, thank you!
One more question, will these be available in skirmish chests, like proofs of heroics?
There will be a new skirmish chest with the new currency in them.
Will that new chest replace the old ones in a retroactive manner?
All skirmish chests earned before PoF launch will contain Proof of Heroics. All skirmish chests earned after will have the new currency.

Thank you for this information.
After PoF releases, will Proof of Heroics still be available to buy HoT sigils, runes, recipes, and hero points at the current exchange rates?
There are players with many thousands of unspent Proofs of Heroics and there will be new HoT purchasers that would like to buy HoT goods and hero points…
I have many characters that I have not bothered to spent Proof of Heroics on and that have not gained their HoT skills. Should I consider spending them now or after PoF releases..
If past experiences teaches me anything, it’s likely that this system will change a lot more than we are currently being told.

We’re actually working on adjusting how the /stuck command works in PvP maps now. It won’t be an instant death, but it will work much more reliably. Also, should provide some better feedback when used.
Additionally, we have a change we’re putting in for player used knockbacks & pulls that should greatly reduce the frequency this happens. It’s been going through testing now and if all goes well, will go out in the next few weeks.

I contact you since my son has not gotten any response from Tech support. he reported his account to be hijacked on 9/2/2017. Ticket 6577319 and 6581001. He has changed his password but there is a block that has been placed on his account. He is unable to post here on the forums. He also worried about seeing emails about someone spending over $250 in Gems on his account. Please get in contact with him and responded to his ticket.

As the first post in this thread explains, there is a delay in responding to tickets. We’re sorry for this situation and I am sure Support will respond to your son as quickly as possible.
He seems to have created two tickets. Duplicate tickets will slow down the process of getting help. Please tell him not to create any more tickets.

What’s the point of the 90sec dc countdown when the entire team loses rating anyway?
Could gw2 pvp in 2017 be any more depressing?
I took a look at this match and the longest disconnect was a player who disconnected about 70 seconds before the match ended.
Dont forget the dozens of adds that spawn and make your life a living hell
Those adds have like 12k health and do very little damage. Just AoE them and they poof.
Hey folks, be sure to give the latest build we just dropped a try.

Because that is also when we are at work
Huh, that’s super strange. Not sure why it’s broken, will have to look into that.
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/titles?ids=all is returning “all ids are invalid” for you? It’s returning all the title data without error for me.
most ppl are done at 17:00, they are not home till 18:00 at least.
first you ppl do it when ppl go to bed and then do it at the time ppl are not even home, good timing Anet -_-
We conduct stress tests when the developers are able to participate. This is not a preview, this is a test with a purpose. We’re fully aware that not everyone will be able to participate, and we’re sorry. But asking the dev team to time-shift to work during night-time hours for a stress test would be counterproductive.
We thank those who choose to and are able to participate and we look forward to seeing everyone on September 22nd when we launch the game!
I will be at work. But that is ok. I can wait for the PoF release.
Thanks for being so understanding. The game will be better for everyone with the help of those who are able to participate, and I appreciate your positive attitude!

Hello,
i submitted a Ticket (#6566466) 8 days ago and got still no answer.
i forgot my guild wars 1 password and need a new one…can you help?
What we see in the history is that you’re creating a ticket and then closing it as no longer needing help, then opening a new one. This happened four times in seven days, and it will not expedite service but in fact will slow it.
Please allow a ticket to remain open until it has been resolved.

As you will note, I have updated the informational post after the stress test announcement to let everyone know that Elite Specializations will not be changed for this stress test.
Please keep in mind the objective of the stress test is not to preview or test skills or specializations, and that you will be performing a very valuable service if you care to join us during the stress test.

I have inquired about whether we are including updated elite specs. I do not anticipate that we will be posting a changelog for a stress test. I will update when I know more.

Yay!
Nice timing for UK too.
Even better, now! We moved it up by two hours, so the test will start at 17:00 or 5:00 PM BST!
I would like to request a 4 hour stress test to accommodate more people from different time zones and areas around the world ?
We changed the time to better accommodate a larger number of players, but two hours is optimal for the developers.
Info from previous test, which should still apply:
- The test will likely run about two hours
- Your feedback would be welcome in this thread
- If you run into a bug, use /bug and fill out a report
- Demo characters will be wiped in preparation for launch
- If you see an existing demo character on your account, it would be helpful if you would please delete it or at least play on a new demo character
Thanks again!
It would be great to be able to test any changes on the elite specs as well. Ofc, that should be complemented with a brief changelog.

make it 3 hours and you got a deal.

We will be conducting a brief stress test for Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire on Thursday, September 7th, beginning at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (17:00 GMT). Apparently, the support has the time to close tickets but not to answer them.
I am beginning to wonder what is going on…
Yes, when you submit a duplicate ticket — as you did — they will close it. And that is one thing that ultimately creates a delay in the system: for you, and for others waiting for help.
As we have said many times: If you wish to or need to update your ticket, or if you are seeking an update, please respond to your existing ticket and do not create a new one.
yeah I’ve had a ticket in for 2 weeks and now that I’ve gotten a response FINALLY, the GM has decided to “request more info” from me and ignore my ticket for EVEN LONGER. I sent the information that he/she requested over a day ago and now i’m back to waiting AGAIN? I don’t understand this one bit. Perhaps if you open a ticket and pretend you’re going to try and resolve it, you should, rather than just ignoring it..
You asked for an adjustment that required you to respond after you had performed certain functions. According to the record, you did those things and have been helped with, in my opinion, a generous outcome in your favor.
In addition, your delay may also have been caused because you submitted a duplicate ticket. But ultimately, it appears you were helped. If you believe differently, please update your existing ticket to discuss with CS.
So it’s been 5 full days since I submitted a support ticket, 5 days I’ve been unable to play a game that I shelled out $105 for; so should I just request a refund through Paypal or are we going to start seeing a response to these aforementioned tickets?
I see that your account was compromised and that Customer Support was able to help you both retrieve the account and secure it. Welcome back to the game.
FOLKS — I’m not going to go through this thread and review every post and check every ticket — I simply do not have the time or the tools to do that. However, as you can see, progress is being made, and we will help everyone to the best of our ability as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.
