Why do you display a certain title?

I change mine quite often, it depends on my mood. The one I display most often, though, is Chosen…for personal reasons.
I display Golden. It wasn’t that I worked super hard for it or anything, I got lucky on the TP and made about 1/2 of the 200g in one good investment, but it shows me that it’s good to take risks.
Before that I used Master Carver because I figured it worked well with a D/D thief and I enjoyed looking for all of those pumpkins

On my Ranger I use ‘Avenger of the Dispossessed’ because it sounds cool and fits him. On my Guardian I display Golden because her armor is all gold and it works. On my Necro I just leave it blank.
I display “God living among mere mortals” on all of my characters.
Simply because it is the only true prestigious title, it shows you have mastered GW1 completely, and you’re not just another chump.
I usually measure people’s experience and how reliable they are in the game by their achievement points (90% accurate), but whoever wears the GWAMM title so far didn’t disappoint me in a party.
Note: If they ever make a title for the legendary track, I’ll wear that instead / as well.
I haven’t really got any worth using yet. In GWEN they had some great titles, the “Destroyer” titles all sounded great, even the lowliest of the bunch. I ran “Destroyer of Nightmares” for ages on my Warrior because … well, how cool is that?
None of the new titles I’ve seen have really jumped out at me and made me want to chase them down. I have a couple, but nothing special. Next time I’m in a huge event like the Karka thing I’ll probably throw up my “Combat Medic” title just so people know Imma coming to save em, but that’s about it.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
I displayed Been There, Done That when there weren’t many other people with it (first two weeks after release).
I also showed Distinction In Applied Jumping for a short period.
But in general, I think they’re unnecessary screen clutter and try to leave them turned off out of consideration for others.
I think a more interesting implementation would be portrait right-click functionality, where you could bring up a player’s achievements and earned titles (no gear, obviously).
Kinda like a short biography.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Combat Healer or Master Carver.
I feel there’s a real lack of titles in GW2 so far. I use Golden on my thief, and Master carver on my warrior.
Golden because he’s a thief, and he has gold? I don’t know. And Master Carver because I use a chainsaw and there aren’t any titles like Mutilator or Slaughterer
(edited by Henge.3907)
I display Golden on my Mesmer, because it makes her a bit more fabulous. Other than that, I don’t really care enough to choose a title. Most of them don’t sound particularly cool, anyway.
If I had GWAMM, I’d display it, but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) I only got to 30/50 in GW1.
Ranger – Golden
because it’s my main
Elementalist – Combat Healer
go figure
Thief – Avenger of the Dispossesed
for irony
Mesmer – Dungeon Master
because it’s an asuran imp
I don’t display any title, to appear as un-threatening as possible in a WvW environment.
However if you forced me to it would probably be ‘Dungeon Master’ because that was a pain in the behind to get.
I use whatever I like the sound of most or am most proud of getting.
In GW1 I always had Legendary Cartographer on my main (unless I changed it for one that gave you a bonus) because it was one of most time consuming to get but also one which I enjoyed the most.
In GW2 I’m currently using Avenger of the Dispossessed because it’s my newest one, but I’ll probably go back to Distinction in Applied Jumping soon because it sounds fun and I enjoyed SAB.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
The only reason I would use a title at all is to show something prestigious or at least something that displays that I’ve put time and effort in to the game. Stuff like Golden, Dungeon Master, Been There Done That etc. although none of those are really that special. A few more wins and I’ll have Champion Shadow, so I’ll just use that. I rarely see those kinds of PvP titles in PvE, so it might be refreshing.
Resident Thief
Combat Healer or Master Carver.
That is a very good explanation.
I use “Flameseeker” on my charr most of the time because he weilds “The Flameseeker Prophecies”.
I refuse to use titles like “God Mere Amongst Mortals” because they don’t fit to my characters
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Master Carver, because I have a d/d thief and an axe/focus necro.
No title, out of courtesy to other players.
Dungeon Master is the only pve worthy title in my opinion.
There should be new titles for every 10 levels in FotM.
I use “Been There. Done That.” title becouse… hmmm…. well, becouse Ive been there and done that.
WvW Commander of Blacktide.

I either pick titles that I’m proud of achieving, or titles that fit the character.
It’s been mentioned before, but I have a dagger necro wearing the Master Carver title as well. In the same vein, Avenger of the Dispossessed fits with my warrior’s background. Distinction in Applied Jumping for my asura engie, because asura like to show off their superiority and I like doing jumping puzzles with them. My two sylvari both wear the HoM Traveler title because I like wandering with them.
I do agree with the sentiment that GW1 titles felt like they were worth more. I never thought I could get the titles though, so I didn’t get into titles until shortly before GW2 and I never completed GWAMM. I’m hoping they’ll revamp/upgrade the GW2 title system eventually.
Sanctum of Rall
There are too many GWAMM around so i wont display that one I think.
I only have access to three, including the latest one Avenger of the Dispossessed. That’s the only one I use and its on my warrior. I always felt as I was levelling him up that he was wandering the earth like Caine from Kungkitten doing good… (cant remember th exact quote) so it seemed fitting he should have it.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Distinction in Applied Jumping, because jumping puzzles are ace, and I heart SAB.

Different characters I have use different titles.
I use the GWAMM title on my more conceited characters, but other characters use other titles. Like my Sylvari ranger uses traveler….because that’s what he is. Some of my characters are more jocular and wear titles for fun.
I wear GWAMM on my ele, which is my main GW2 character, and my GW1 namesake. I got GWAMM on her in GW1, why not show it on the namesake in GW2?
Does it bother me that other people wear it? Nope. I got GWAMM before it was fashionable to do so. ~.^
On my other characters…I haven’t really browsed through what I have, so they’re all blank for the time being. Eventually I’ll find/have one to fit each. No rush though, I gots all the time in the world…
I usually display what sounds good for my toon. My necro is always sporting “Emissary of the Mad King” while my flamethrower wielding engie shows “Flameseeker” and Guardian displays “Avenger of the Dispossessed.”
They all fit a theme that goes with their style.
No title, out of courtesy to other players.
And if you wanted to be extra courteous you’d show it because I like to see what titles people have.
The titles i display are the ones that were a nightmare to get because i was a sap and did them, so i should show everyone how silly i was to do them..
On my main, I display Dungeon Master, because she has a Legendary, so I want to show I actually am experienced in the dungeons, so people wouldn’t think “Oh, I bet he just grinded/TP for that Legendary and has no skill”.
On my alt, I used to use Golden, to show that even if this char doesn’t look so good, I have money and my other char must have something cool (:P). Now I’m using Champion Slayer on him, because he has now some expensive gear, so I like to show that I have played some TPvP too. Champion Slayer will eventually become Champion Illusionist (still need quite many wins).
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I don’t display any title.
Combat Healer because I pull off clutch stealth revives.
Combat Healer – Nurse in real life. Even in a medical based guild the Sons of Hippocrates (Hippocrates is the father of medicine).
I use either Combat Healer or Volunteer because those are the only two titles I have and I’m unlikely to get any others except for possibly Master Craftsman.
Emissary of the mad king because I had the most fun getting that one.
I don’t display a title. I think they’re lame, especially since there are so few titles that you see a bunch of people using the same ones.
Because it is the only one I have?
Kidding, I actualy have two…but I don’t like “volunteer”

Pain Killer [pK] | Blacktide EU | PVE: Corruptionmancer | PVP: Support Wellmancer
‘Avenger of the Dispossessed’ or ’Combat Medic’ because as a Guardian I feel they fit rather well.
Emissary of the Mad King on my main, nothing specific on my others.
The Halloween events were my first experience with GW2, and they were awesome. There were bad times – ANet was so bad at communication back then, it’s amazing how much they’ve improved. And there were good times – the community really pulled together to help lower-level characters do stuff in higher-level zones. No event since has been as awe-inspiring as Halloween. I wear the title as a badge for my main, because it was her formative experience in GW2.
Not sure what titles to use for my other characters. I’ll probably stick Golden on the thief once I get it ( I mainly use her for playing the TP). Avenger of the Dispossessed may go on my warrior, not sure yet.
Golden because i’m a rich bookah

Guild Warrior, since I’m the only active warrior in the guild and I have the guild emblem on various armor/weapons
Closer to the Stars; because I’m from GW1 and because it reminds me of Suikoden.
God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals
Because I had the most fun ever in any game earning that.
Combat Healer because I bring those Healing Springs and drake blasts.
i like my Distinction in Applied Jumping on my main. it either impresses people when i flawlessly run the lazers in CoE, or else it gets a huge laugh when i fail the lazers repeatedly. o_o
Nothing, titles are meaningless.
I used to think DM was a good title, and then they nerfed Simin making any noob able to get it.

None. On purpose. My black widow is my gw1 reference. And my pact weapon shows i finished my personal story. My 4000 plus achievement points show Im an active player.
If they make a title for having finished the personal story with all 8 professions then ill display that. That is my personal goal.
I like the title “Emissary of the Mad King”… it is the first holiday event after GW2 was launched. The title sort of puts you into a veteran status.
I swap my title arounds (i.e: “dungeon master” when I’m running dungeons, “master crafter” when I’m crafting, etc…)
My little brother, however, just keeps his “Champion of the Gods” up. His explanation is that GWAMM is only a few max titles tracks, Champion is actually 50 HOM points.
Nothing, titles are meaningless.
I used to think DM was a good title, and then they nerfed Simin making any noob able to get it.
Don’t they remind you of the times when you ran through all those dungeons – the sense of accomplishment?! Do you only wear titles to impress?
