OMG…. flags on our backs seem like we are school kids supporting an event

capes on the other hand makes us mother father gentlemen.

Aye in favour?

Disagree.

Guild Flags are fine! Capes are way overused…

They probably took the path of least resistance to avoid fixing all the clipping that capes would cause. I don’t, however, believe that this means we will never see capes in the game. It is kind of cool that now with the Naga Fang and one of these banners, you can look like a samurai. But yeah, i’d like some real capes too, not entirely happy about this decision.

Why the heck do everyone assume that if they don’t introduce a feature is because they have a problem with it’s implementation?

They probably don’t want Capes because that’s what every game used in the past. It’s so repetitive…

“You shall not wear capes” → Here. Take a flag instead! …….. Intended

Because Lost Shores…

Because of them admitting to boss encounters being stale, one dimensional, and that they were working on fixing them..

Because the personal story had middle-school play cut-scenes and F&F has proper, yet wonky and most likely rushed real scenes…

There are tons of things that somewhat indicate ArenaNet seems to take the path of least resistance more often than not.

This decision screams compromise.

I’m going to go with clipping, too, but I also have to agree with LH; after all, they could have made half capes with fewer problems. But the flags are a really nifty idea, (and I’m wondering if not something they were making for the Chinese market, too) and do the same thing with more style.

I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.

Yes i agree in that points. They do tend to work for the easy and fast solutions and sometimes they are not the best ones, but still, that don’t mean that if they don’t want to add capes is because of the clipping issues.

If they said: “We will add capes, so here are the flags” i would agree with you, but they didn’t. They say: “There will be flags”. That don’t mean they aren’t capable of making capes. They prefer not to (whatever the reason). Completely different things!

They went with banners as something different and it is what samurais used to have so i like the idea they stick out more as well.

No capes! We aren’t a bunch of cheesy superheros. I’d much rather see something like full armor covering/replacing cloaks. Much more fitting a guild game.

I like guild flags. Reminders me of sashimono poles.

Also with a cape it’s hard to see the guild crest. This way the enemy knows for sure what guild you’re in from a side view.
